00:00And the UK Foreign Secretary today, David Lammy, is meeting his US counterpart, Marco Rubio.
00:06Amid speculation, US involvement could require the use of UK controlled bases in the Chagos
00:14Islands. Could the UK possibly be dragged into this conflict indirectly?
00:19Well, I think the agenda is not just whether the UK would facilitate possible US military
00:28operations. It's also important for the UK to coordinate with the US if any diplomatic
00:37initiative is to have a chance. Because ultimately, the UK or even European partners, if they do sit
00:43down with the Iranians, they can hear what the Iranians are prepared to do. But ultimately,
00:52they have to feed that back to the US. So I think that yes, the UK has to talk about what the
00:59options are for and what they're prepared to do in terms of facilitating US operations. But I think
01:05they would be far happier getting out the message and that they also want to coordinate diplomatically
01:10with the US.
