A beloved mom couldn’t believe her eyes when her son who hadn’t been home in three years surprised her with a much-needed truck after her vehicle kept breaking down. Donna Fraser, 66, spent most of her life raising her son Joel, 44, and as a single mom, and so the pair have always shared an incredibly close bond. Money had always been tight, but a couple of years ago Donna was laid off from her long-time job unexpectedly. Living in a rural community, in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, Canada, and without a retirement nest egg, Donna had no choice to start over again and find work. But her 2007 Chevy Sierra, which she had driven for 13 years, was starting to fail her. According to her daughter, Cora, the truck had more than 260,000 miles on the clock; wouldn't start half the time; the windows didn't seal; and the interior was coated in dust from years of traveling down gravel roads where Donna lives. Donna made the decision to sell off some of her assets and enter into a financing agreement for a new vehicle – however when Joel heard about his mother's plan, he had other ideas. The 44-year-old, who Cora said has the kindest heart, had recently sold his quick lube and muffler shop in Canmore, Alberta, and had come in some money. Cora received a message from Joel saying, "Don't let Mom sell anything or buy a truck," which came with a photos of a shiny 2020 RAM truck in red, Donna's favorite color.
