00:00So let me bring in first Dave. Dave, you've come from Nottingham today. Can you tell us briefly
00:06what your situation is and why you feel so strongly the law needs to change?
00:11Okay, I've got a cancer called myeloma. I was diagnosed with that four years ago and the
00:16doctors at Nottingham City Hospital brought me back from the brink. They were wonderful
00:21and they continue to look after me. I'm still on chemo but it will break through at some point
00:26and it will kill me. And I have an uncertain, possibly horrible future and if I can't cope
00:33with it anymore, I want the option to end it. I just want the option.
00:39I'm so sorry. Thank you very much for speaking. Okay, let's talk now to Kate. Kate, you've
00:45come from Derby today. Lovely picture of your grandmother Doreen when she was young. Can
00:52you tell us what her experience was? Well, she was terminally ill. She had breast
00:57cancer. She had no quality of life anymore. She basically reached the limits of what she
01:03could endure. She wanted access to assisted dying but obviously that wasn't available
01:08to her. So one night she took matters into her own hands and she took her own life. It
01:14was my dad and I who had to deal with the aftermath of that, part of which involved identifying
01:18her body. It will haunt me for the rest of my life and I will do anything I can to stop
01:24other families going through what we did. Thank you. Thank you so much. So feelings incredibly
01:31strong as you see. It's very difficult for MPs. They are agonising about this. At the first
01:38vote it passed by 55 votes but since then the bill has changed quite fundamentally. It's getting
01:44much tighter. We do not know how this is going to go but we will bring you updates of course
01:50throughout the day.
