00:00i mean it seems extraordinary on the face of it that angela rayner said that this vote is going
00:05to go ahead on tuesday given given the scale i mean they will lose well at the moment they think
00:12they won't lose they think that uh the rebellion might melt away and some insiders are saying that
00:17actually perhaps the speaker might not select this amendment and therefore it won't be an issue
00:21however i think that's probably unlikely i think they will um try very hard over the weekend as
00:27chris was just saying to try and find some way to climb down slightly but i've been speaking to
00:33rebels this morning and they're saying actually there's nothing the government could give us now
00:37that will make us back down so you're right we're looking for a massive showdown next week
00:41yes because kitty a couple of hours ago you put out a piece in your paper um suggesting that sources are
00:47telling you that it's not going to go ahead that they're going to pull the bill so it's all over
00:52the place at the moment well that that was the speculation this morning absolutely that that
00:58members of the government uh uh were speculating that the bill could be pulled as early as today
01:03and the reason for that was is that lucy power who's the leader of the house of commons has to stand up
01:08tomorrow at the business statement and say this is the this is what's happening next week and so
01:14mps were saying well this has got to be pulled by this evening basically um there's been a flurry of
01:19sort of reaction across white hall and in number 10 this morning saying you know messages flying
01:25backwards and forwards saying we have no plans to do this but it's a sign of how how widespread these
01:30rumors were that angela rayner had to stand up at uh deputy prime minister's questions and insist
01:36that um that um that the uh the bill will go ahead next tuesday
