00:00Our unique offender rate remains stable. What that's telling us
00:03is that there's many of the same people committing additional offences
00:08that are driving our crime rate. That is why
00:11the government has introduced the toughest bail laws in the country
00:15and we are seeing in our bail statistics, our remand statistics
00:19that some 100% of youth offenders
00:23have been remanded in the first three months. We've seen a 100%
00:27change but you can't improve on that. That's a demonstration
00:31that our new tough bail laws are working. We've seen a 100% increase in youth
00:36offenders that have been remanded, that have had their bail revoked
00:40and that are in custody. We've also seen a 31% increase in adults
00:45who have been remanded, who have had their bail revoked,
00:48who have been put into custody since our new
00:52bail laws have been in force. We'll start to see
00:56those tougher bail laws have an effect on some of our crime
01:01statistics and crime indicators in future quarters.
