00:00So Bristol Sounds is in one form in our lives in its 10th year this year, it's been a really
00:06successful concert series for cross-town concerts on the harbour side, we've had a plethora of
00:10different acts from international to British artists playing over the years and yeah this
00:15is our 10th year and we've got five concerts next week.
00:18Bristol Sounds then, tell me a little bit about what we can expect.
00:22So we've got, personally I think we've done really well with the line-up this year, some
00:25really really strong notable British and international acts, so on the Wednesday we
00:32have Supergrass playing their 30th anniversary of their nominal album which is going to be
00:37an amazing night, I think it's the first time they've played Bristol in a very long time.
00:41The next night we've got Kaiser Chiefs, on the Friday we've got Texas, on the Saturday we've
00:47got a bit of an all-day event with the Vatellis, Cast, Sleeper, Stereo MCs and Goldie Lookin'
00:52Chain and then on the Sunday we end the concert series with Olly Murs.
00:57So Bristol Sounds has become a really iconic part of Bristol's summer calendar,
01:04how have you sustained yourself every year is getting bigger and bigger, tell me a little bit
01:09about that. I'd say it's the one, on one side it's the quality of the artists that we're booking,
01:14you know we're very cautious that we've got to, you know we've got to present some really good
01:17quality acts for the people of Bristol but also the way that we manage the site, the way that people
01:22can enjoy themselves on the site, the way we lay the site out is really key, the messaging that we
01:26get out to people is really really strong so everybody knows what's happening from start to
01:30finish so for my side it's just you know it's a really well-run event is key, you know on one
01:35side and then just the quality of acts that we're able to able to bring to Bristol.
01:39And Bristol Sounds Festival, it isn't just about the sounds as it's not just about the music,
01:43you also collaborate with local businesses, you have amazing food and drinks, tell me a little bit about
01:50that side of the of the collaboration process. Yeah so on one side with the bars and stuff so
01:55we've got a local bar supplier who are based just outside Bristol and we make sure the partner we
01:59lost in grounded brewery because they produce amazing beers and we don't want you know that
02:03festival experience of going and having a bit of a cheaper lager let's say you know yeah you know
02:09you're spending too much money on a lager that you're not going to like having a quality product
02:13having a real great beer and that you know they're really really key to us in terms of being a local
02:18business but also the wider side the production team everybody that works it they're Bristol.
02:22It's a Bristol team but you know we're really strong that we have to be using local suppliers
02:27one from the the green side of it to try and make the event as green as possible but also just
02:30to support the local economy as much as we can. We're very much in a cost of living crisis we're
02:34coming out of Covid for some people things are pretty bleak what do you think a music event
02:39like Bristol Sounds does for the local community? So we try really hard to kind of keep it affordable
02:44including the bar prices and the food prices we talk to the suppliers making sure they're not
02:49pushing it too hard and I think you know for the local economy I think it's just a nice boost it's
02:53a good boost it's a great city centre location you know that people can just come down and have a
02:57have a you know enjoy themselves for the week I think really
