00:00just moments away here Jason obviously is getting the final instructions from
00:05the referee in charge its referee Kazuko Nakamura from Japan and we as Adam said
00:14are set to go you see the tail of the tape the age factor in favor of Sims 3
00:19but Sims 3 has got a lot of miles under the tank a lot of fights and a lot of
00:23wars in the 25 years he's been with us round one underway here from Tokyo Japan
00:31Aaron out of the Southpaw the pink and black Sims 3 with the black and gold
00:39fighting out of the Orthodox stance almost sounds cliche at this point but it
00:47does need to be said every time you get Southpaw versus Orthodox it's the battle
00:50of the front foot whoever's front foot is on the outside sets them up for their
00:57power shots from their backhand we have to watch that very closely to see who's
01:05going to be leading the dance here simply trying to establish the jab Aronetta not
01:11really stepping forward with his jab pine at the moment but Sims 3 a little more
01:18convicted with his punches shot slipped by Sims 3 the busy of the two here early on but we are in our opening moments
01:30double jab by Sims 3 Aronetta pairing them easily Aronetta not opening up at all Sims 3 popping the jab now and then we haven't seen anything other than the jab out of either of these fighters as of yet
01:36both guys are aware kind of the potential to come back that could come back from the other fighter and given the the power that both men carry you know nobody wants to get caught with anything while you're still in the feeling
02:06not quite expecting at this point in the fight very conservative start from both
02:13right hand to the body missing by Sims 3 Aronetta yet to really throw a power shot with the left or the right as they speak one to the body by Aronetta lands softly
02:26Sims 3 answering back again filling out process well underway here in the opening round
02:33straight left missing by Sims 3 to the body
02:39you know like we had mentioned before everything for Aronetta is to set up that left hand
02:44doesn't always just throw it blindly usually it's with a combination but
02:49when it finds its target it's deadly right left combination partially landed by Sims 3
02:57Aronetta blocking that and the follow-up jab by Sims 3 as well
03:02again nothing but jabs here in the opening round jab to the body and up top by Sims 3
03:1115 seconds left in the first stanza one marked ever so slightly by the slightly enhanced work rate of Sims 3 through three minutes
03:32you know the trainer Julius Irving Junko that's his name seriously Dr. J Julius Irving Junko giving instructions to Aronetta
03:49and for Aronetta you know staying calm like that in the first rounds and in these early rounds and not really allowing Sims 3 to fight the style that he likes
04:01where it's just you know for the lack of a better term a firefight and just kind of swinging wild
04:06it's he's shown in the past especially with that fight against Ibuki where he kind of got a little frustrated
04:11and started taking some risks that he probably shouldn't have taken and opened himself up far too much
04:16and was getting caught with you know clean counters and also just combinations just not
04:21not bringing his hands back properly to where they needed to be after entering exchanges
04:25and so for Aronetta he might be just trying to draw out Sims 3 a little bit
04:29and once he opens up he'll be able to find a home for that big left
04:32and Sims 3 is showing more movement and jabs than we've seen out of him in the past
04:35in that opening round that could have thrown Aronetta for a loop as well
04:38expecting more of a stationary harder throwing target in front of him
04:42again we are round 2 of the IBF light flyweight world title between Christian Aronetta in the black and pink
04:53and Sanong Sook Sims 3 in the black and gold Jason Abelson and Adam Hunt here with you from Tokyo Japan as we await the much anticipated main event between Brian Norman Jr. and Jin Sasaki until then it's Aronetta and Sims 3 for the junior flyweight world title
05:00Jab right hand by Sims 3 and Aronetta looks a little befuddled by the fact he's seeing a lot of movement and not necessarily a stationary target out of Sims 3
05:07Sims 3 mixing it up to the body to the head and really owning whatever action there has been through the first four minutes of this fight it's been virtually all Sims 3 heads coming together there
05:14Nothing opening up as far as cuts we could tell from this angle
05:35Nothing opening up as far as cuts, we can tell from this angle.
05:40Sure, very responsible start here from Simseri, you've seen a couple of shots to the body
05:47as well trying to invest early, gets a little nod of the head from Araneta there and usually
05:54when they nod and they say oh good one or oh that didn't hurt, if they react to it at
05:59all it usually found the target and hurt.
06:00Best punch of the fight, just landed by Simseri, Araneta answers back with his best
06:04moment but here comes Simseri and it's beginning to heat up in the second half of round two.
06:09Araneta missing with the left up top, Simseri with a jab landing and the action picking up
06:16here in the second.
06:18I tell you the power of Simseri is really starting to be on display here in the second round when
06:23he sits down on these shots he's getting a reaction from Araneta and that's usually not
06:27a good sign.
06:28No, absolutely, and it's you know it's blood flowing from the nose or from the upper
06:34eyebrow of Simseri, you see that blood trickling down from a cut between the eyes, good left
06:43hand by Araneta.
06:45Araneta and he missed a big one earlier in the round because there was no setup but there
06:49there's two times now where he's had the left hand follow a jab and it's found the target and
06:53that's you know been his game plan for most of his career is setting up the left hand not just
06:58throwing it blind and big left right by Simseri.
07:02Good move up by Simseri as well.
07:12Good shot off top by Simseri, another right hand
07:17by Simseri.
07:17Araneta to the body, Simseri to the head.
07:25A double right hand by Simseri at the bell and that is not a small cut on the brow
07:31of Slungsuk Simseri.
07:32Right above the eye too.
07:37Cut man Masiata Moto, Moto Ishii is going to have his work cut out for him in the corner
07:43of Slungsuk Simseri.
07:44He really had that one two going throughout that round and we see another angle of it right there.
07:51Right hand straight down the pipe following the jab and there a bit of a bit of a hook in the arm
07:57there not quite as straight as the other so he's changing it up going to the body as well we saw
08:03that a few times and for Simseri the activity certainly seems to be there especially an uptick
08:10from round one getting some of those power shots going but that cut on the eye is concerning
08:16Jason it's right above the eye and could potentially go down into the eye.
08:23That's that stuff that gets fights called so we'll have to keep an eye.
08:27Cut man Masiata.
08:28No pun intended on it.
08:28Yeah Masahiro Moto Ishiu the cut man for Simseri doing a good job between rounds.
08:34Round three underway here from Tokyo Japan.
08:39Christian Araneta in the black and pink.
08:42Sanong Sung Simseri in the black and gold.
08:52Good body work by Simseri but that right hand over the top landing by Simseri.
08:56Araneta trying to go to the body before but look at Simseri close the gap and throw.
09:00I think he's getting more confident as this goes on.
09:03Which could be falling into the trap of Araneta.
09:05Good left his best punch of the fight by Araneta.
09:11Simseri though shakes it off and answers back as well.
09:17Simseri is definitely having the most success when he's throwing in pairs or throwing in bunches.
09:23Although he did rent right hand there.
09:24Sinking left hook to the body by Simseri.
09:27Right hand in close by Simseri.
09:29Araneta backing up and not replying.
09:35The pressure and power on display from Nungsook Simseri here so far through two and a half rounds.
09:43Absolutely.
09:43I think it has Araneta puzzled a little bit.
09:45Maybe he wasn't quite expecting the pop to be coming from Simseri that he's been feeling through these first three rounds.
09:50I think the movement and the power has got him a little flustered.
09:57Right hand blocked by Araneta.
10:00Counter left thrown by Araneta but misses.
10:05And that's that big left hand and it's a fight ender.
10:09Yeah but it's landed maybe once or twice in this fight.
10:13Body work by Simseri.
10:16Throwing more and more confidently with both hands is the tie fighter.
10:21Araneta with a straight left that missed.
10:23Araneta can't get too close to Simseri because as soon as he gets inside Simseri fires away.
10:42Good left by Araneta.
10:44Right hand up top by Simseri.
10:46Counter left by Araneta.
10:48Really starting to see guys open up here.
10:52Left right left combination by Simseri.
10:54Big left by Araneta.
10:58And that could have been the trap he was laying.
11:00Simseri very confident throwing combinations and then ba-bam.
11:03Araneta with the left hand.
11:04And that caused that hand to touch.
11:08Simseri went down.
11:10No doubt about it.
11:11Love touched after that shot.
11:13And here comes the pressure by Araneta.
11:15Right left right.
11:17Body work by Araneta.
11:18Big combinations for both men.
11:20Right hand by Simseri.
11:22Left by Araneta.
11:23Right by Araneta.
11:24Wow.
11:26What an end to that round.
11:28Terrific action from both men.
11:33To end the third.
11:37Just caught in mid combination.
11:38And that is as clean of a left hand as you can land.
11:42Christian Araneta.
11:44On the butt.
11:46And before that Araneta was throwing the hands with confidence.
11:50Landing.
11:50But that one shot changed the tenor of this fight.
11:54And why wouldn't it?
11:56That was a bomb.
11:59And the chin on Simseri.
12:00To just have a glove touch after a shot like that.
12:04Yeah.
12:05Is impressive as well.
12:06And the way that he ended the round as well.
12:08You know they were trading big shots to end that round.
12:12And Simseri seemed to have shaken out the cobwebs.
12:14At least to the best of his ability.
12:16And a cut on the left eye of Araneta.
12:21Looks a little wider than the cut over the left eye of Simseri.
12:24But terrific action from both men in the third.
12:31Round four underway.
12:32Jason Abelson.
12:33Adam Hunt here with you.
12:34Courtesy of Top Rank.
12:35We are at the Oda City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
12:39Christian Araneta.
12:41And Thunksuk.
12:42Simseri for the vacant IBF junior flyweight world title.
12:46Looks like the referee just wanted a little closer look at that cut over the left eye of Simseri.
12:51But it gives the all clear and we're back underway.
12:57And man that third round was as advertised for these two.
13:00Big shots from both men.
13:04Big exchanges to end the round as well.
13:06And that vaunted power by Araneta showing up in one punch variety with that big left
13:12that dropped Simseri near the end of the third.
13:22Let's see if Simseri takes a more cautious approach this round.
13:25Because he was opening up with combinations when he got caught with by that left.
13:30By Araneta.
13:32He was for sure.
13:33And he's had success with you know a two or a three punch combination.
13:36He kind of got caught in the middle of about a six or a seven punch combination there where
13:40Araneta was really able to find the spot and of course score that knockdown.
13:44And earlier in the fight and even in that round when he's going two or three shots at a time it
13:48seems to kind of have a better effect because he's able to get himself covered back up.
13:53And any response from Araneta is usually blocked with the gloves or if he can back out of range.
13:59So if he can stay away from those long extended combinations where nothing is landing perfectly
14:05flush he might be able to stay out of the way that big left hand.
14:09And for Araneta I mean you have to be looking to hit that counter left again.
14:13If you can find it once you can find it again.
14:18Simseri trying to get close, dig to the body.
14:21Araneta really good at creating space for himself.
14:24Not getting too close.
14:27But when he does get in that power is on display.
14:32Simseri missing with the right hand.
14:36Araneta a very disciplined fighter.
14:43Hands up maintaining space.
14:47Simseri left right combination up top.
14:51Araneta not answering.
14:53Left to the body just missed by Araneta.
14:55Simseri tries to counter up top.
15:06I think Simseri is a little tepid with that.
15:08He knows that power of Araneta is there and he had Araneta against the ropes.
15:12Took a step in and then stepped back out.
15:14Cautious not to get caught by that Araneta power.
15:20So you see a lot of shorter combinations as well during that round.
15:23No long extended attacks from the Simseri side.
15:28Knowing what that left hand is now capable of.
15:32Take a look at some of the action here.
15:42Araneta again being very responsible.
15:43Ducks that right hand from Simseri.
15:47Ducks back out of the way rather.
15:48That's kind of been his mantra especially in fight week.
15:53You know he had mentioned that patience he believes would be a big part.
16:01If he is going to be successful here tonight.
16:03And we saw it already.
16:04Waited for that big shot.
16:06Put him down with the left.
16:07And seems to kind of just be buying his time.
16:09It almost seems like just looking for a place.
16:12Looking for a good time to land that big left hand again.
16:18And his cut man.
16:20Jerry Castaverde.
16:21Working on that cut over the left eye.
16:25Of Christian Araneta.
16:27As they get together for round five here from Tokyo Japan.
16:32Great work from both cut men.
16:34Those are two big gashes over the eyes.
16:36And doesn't seem to be playing too much of a factor so far.
16:48Trang Suk Simseri in the black and gold.
16:49Christian Araneta in the orange, pink, and black.
16:54For the IBF.
17:02Late flyweight world title.
17:04The title vacant.
17:07Not for long.
17:08And for Simseri.
17:09He definitely seems to be a little more cautious on his way in.
17:12We're not seeing those long extended combinations.
17:16And you say that and there he throws one.
17:18Three punch combination there.
17:19Yeah, three punch combination.
17:19I think that's right in the sweet zone.
17:20Yeah, I think it's part of his DNA to throw it.
17:22I mean, I'm sure he's actually fighting himself being this patient.
17:27There's Simseri working the body in the head.
17:30Araneta pairing.
17:32Waiting for that chance to counter.
17:34In the meantime, it's Simseri doing the scoring here in the fifth.
17:46Right hands up top by Simseri.
17:48Araneta stalking him around the ring.
17:52But not throwing.
17:53It's Simseri with the output.
17:57Not landing a lot, but at least he's throwing.
18:00Which could be playing into Araneta's game plan.
18:02We saw that in the third.
18:04Absorb, absorb, and then attack.
18:08But right now, it's Simseri doing the attacking.
18:13And Araneta biding his time.
18:21Jabs by Simseri.
18:22Again, creating the space for himself.
18:24Right hand over the top.
18:26Partially blocked by Araneta.
18:33Jabs by Simseri.
18:35Araneta not.
18:37That movement by Simseri is throwing Araneta.
18:40Araneta needs to have his feet planted to throw these shots.
18:43And that Simseri movement is neutralizing that Araneta power.
18:48Shots have not been coming from Araneta at all.
18:50With this lateral movement, he's just not throwing.
18:53And I think Simseri is realizing that.
18:56That if he stands and throws combinations, he's going to give Araneta a chance to counter.
19:01But if he's moving laterally, Araneta is not getting off.
19:05Big left by Araneta.
19:07Again, it's Simseri standing and taking a picture of his work.
19:11And Araneta answering another big left.
19:15It was.
19:16He caught him on the counter to get this whole thing started.
19:18Simseri went with the right hand of the body and perfectly timed.
19:21It was a left hand over the top for Araneta.
19:26Couldn't work at the end of the round by Araneta.
19:28After I was pontificating over the fact he wasn't getting off when his feet were planted.
19:33Well, he planted and landed at the end of that round.
19:36And that cut over the left eye is getting pretty wide.
19:42And there's that big shot.
19:44Simseri goes to the body.
19:45And Araneta answers with a big left over the top.
19:50Almost reminiscent of what we saw.
19:52Yeah, in the third.
19:53Absolutely.
19:54To get that first knockdown.
19:55But Simseri, at least for the time being, stands tall to the big left hand.
20:01That cut is getting wider and wider over that eye.
20:07Of Christian Araneta.
20:09One bit of confidence, though.
20:10It doesn't seem to be bleeding too much during the rounds and getting into his eye.
20:13Because given the fight that we've seen so far, we don't want to have it end by a doctor stoppage.
20:18Or a technical decision, depending on what actually did catch.
20:23What actually did cause either cut.
20:26Yeomans work by both corners to control their respective cuts from their fighters.
20:33Christian Araneta kicks things off here in the sixth with a great left to the body.
20:38Christian Araneta in the orange-pink with black trim.
20:53Jason Abelson and Adam Hunt here with you from the Oda City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
20:59Thunstuck Simseri, good right hand over the top.
21:01Another good right hand by Simseri.
21:05Araneta doing well, keeping his guard up, blocking most of these.
21:10Simseri, the activity certainly hasn't seemed to dip too much.
21:12It dipped a little bit in the fourth after getting knocked down in the third.
21:15It seemed like he was maybe a little hesitant.
21:17But in the fifth, the activity was there in the sixth.
21:20It certainly seems like it's there for Simseri.
21:25It really is a case of volume over power.
21:27The volume of Simseri versus the thudding power of Araneta so far in this fight.
21:34Of course, the two biggest shots of the entire fight have been left hands from Araneta.
21:39Absolutely.
21:44Simseri seems to be doing all the right things.
21:46Ed, you had mentioned lateral movement, throwing in combinations,
21:48but doesn't seem to be overextending himself too much like what got caught up,
21:52like what got him caught in the third.
21:54And now it's Araneta on the prowl here in the sixth.
21:57Moving forward.
22:00A more aggressive tone.
22:05Left blocked by Simseri.
22:10Simseri to the body and to the head, but pitter-pat
22:13absorbed without much problem.
22:16By Christian Araneta.
22:20Right hook missing by Araneta.
22:22He doesn't throw that right hook often at all.
22:23It really is about that left hand for Christian Araneta.
22:28There's another left hand right on the chin from Araneta.
22:32Legs went a little stiff there from Simseri.
22:34Another left.
22:34Simseri answering back with the right hand.
22:36Big left by Araneta.
22:38You can just have that on a loop.
22:39Big left by Araneta.
22:40Big left by Araneta.
22:41I mean, that is what he throws and lands.
22:48Right hand by Simseri.
22:52He's been able to split the guard a few times there with that one, too.
22:54Yeah, but that guard by Araneta.
22:57If he can catch him.
22:58Yep.
22:58It's always there.
23:00Those hands do not drop at all.
23:01Araneta's defense.
23:04It's not slick, but it is effective.
23:05It's block and counter and land.
23:08The left hand from Christian Araneta.
23:11Keeping his back hand up high, too.
23:13Opens himself up to get that left counter up quickly.
23:21Left hand just misses by Araneta.
23:23He is sitting.
23:23Oh, heads come together again at the end of the sixth.
23:32Good action.
23:33And it's those moments from Araneta that are setting this fight apart.
23:37Moments like that.
23:38That big left catching Simseri numerous times in that round.
23:44Simseri has got a beard on him.
23:46He's absorbing these shots and still coming forward.
23:50You said it.
23:51There's the big left.
23:53And there was two big lefts right after that that Simseri seemed to just eat.
24:00And that's been, you know, kind of his calling card throughout his entire career.
24:0339 fights and has never shied away from standing and trading in any of them.
24:10And the cut over the brow of Sunogsuk Simseri seems to be widening as well.
24:16The heads came together.
24:18And that looks like it might be a second cut on that eye.
24:20Now, round seven.
24:24Round seven about to begin.
24:27We are live from the Oda City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
24:30We await the absolutely incredible main event between Brian Norman and Jin Sasaki in the meantime.
24:37Lots of action to go through between these two gentlemen.
24:42Christian Araneta and Simseri for the IBF light flyweight world title.
24:49It's been a power display so far from Christian Araneta.
25:05Scoring the knockdown in the third and landing the truly meaningful shots so far
25:11through six-plus rounds.
25:15Simseri has his moments as far as dictating pace.
25:19But it's the power moments, in my mind, that have been the difference for Araneta in this fight.
25:24Yeah, for sure.
25:26And he's got 20 knockouts in his career.
25:28Obviously, the eye-catching stat of nine first-round KOs.
25:31But seven of them have come in the second half of the fight.
25:34And so the power obviously doesn't go away for all 12 rounds.
25:37And for a conservative start where he's just buying his time and finding home for his shots,
25:42if he's going to have an uptick in the activity here,
25:45he may just find that shot that finally puts away Simseri.
25:48Yeah, patience and power on display from Christian Araneta.
25:51For sure.
25:51Here tonight.
25:53For Thumbsuk, Simseri, it's a case of just avoiding that power but still scoring.
25:59You can make a case for a couple of rounds just based on the output alone.
26:03And if that's indeed the issue, it's not a hugely one-sided fight on the scorecards.
26:12But he has to be wary.
26:14He can't just pitter-pat and walk around.
26:18He has to sit down on some of these shots to make a difference.
26:23But when he does that, that opens up the opportunity for Araneta.
26:26Exactly.
26:27Yes.
26:28And like you'd mentioned, the high points, of course, have all been Araneta with the big left hands.
26:31But kind of your daily driver for the rest of this fight, for the most part, has been the activity of Simseri.
26:42And I think that'll dictate, you're right, I think that'll dictate the actual pace of this fight.
26:46I think Araneta is very comfortable waiting and waiting and waiting on Simseri.
26:50It's a matter of how does Simseri react to that threat of Araneta's power.
26:56Right and left up top by Simseri.
27:00Good scoring blow and then getting out of the way.
27:05Again, it's Simseri.
27:06Simseri with the punches and the movement.
27:13And Araneta biding his time, pressing forward, missing with a combination up top.
27:18Simseri right hand up the top.
27:19Araneta coming forward.
27:37Tough round to score.
27:38Very.
27:40Do you go with the volume of Simseri or do you go with the fact that Araneta...
27:43Yeah, he didn't throw a lot, but when he does throw, you know it's there.
27:49And the fact that he's got that power is dictating the terms for Simseri.
27:54So how do judges react to this?
27:56Absolutely, because the power advantage clearly lies with Araneta, for sure.
28:01But again, just the activity of Simseri.
28:04He could be stealing these rounds.
28:05It all depends where the judges lie and where their priorities lie for scoring a fight.
28:13And that cut again.
28:17He said it round after round.
28:18But it seems to be worsening over that left eye of Christian Araneta.
28:24As is the case with the cut over the left eye of his counterpart,
28:29amongst the Simseri.
28:31Both men bearing the scars of battle here.
28:35Blue seven rounds.
28:36Round eight set to get underway.
28:38The IBF light flyweight world title up for grabs.
28:41Christian Araneta in the pink, orange, and black trim.
28:45Thumsuk Simseri in the black and gold.
28:48Jason Abelson and Adam Hunt here with you live from Tokyo, Japan.
28:54Of course, the main event.
28:55Brian Norman Jr., Jin Sasaki still to come.
28:59In the meantime, Araneta and Simseri putting on a show.
29:12Like I mentioned, with Araneta having seemingly the power advantage,
29:17and he seems to be just waiting and waiting for his chances to land his left hands on the counter.
29:21But I don't think he needs to.
29:23I don't think he needs to wait for his openings.
29:25I think regardless of where this fight goes,
29:28Simseri is going to have pressure and going to have activity.
29:31And so if you're not returning with, you know, combinations of your own that you're initiating,
29:37you're just kind of waiting and you're playing his game.
29:40And I don't think that needs to be the case for him.
29:42He's got that powerful left hand that has put him down already once in this fight.
29:46I think if he throws some combinations and really looks to set that left hand up.
29:50Yeah, I think he's waiting for Simseri to help him set up that left hand.
29:56For sure.
29:56And I don't think he needs to, especially with, you know, we don't know what the judges are seeing
30:00and where their priorities are lying.
30:02You know, with the activity of Simseri, he could just be stealing rounds
30:06that Araneta thinks he has won because he has the power advantage.
30:11Oh, good point.
30:13He's nearly coming together again.
30:15This happened a couple times in this fight.
30:22Both men kind of playing a waiting game.
30:25Simseri being cautious, Araneta being patient.
30:33There's a disciplined defense from Araneta.
30:36Chin tucked.
30:38Great footwork getting out of the way.
30:40And Simseri just headhunting here.
30:46Hasn't gone to the body whatsoever.
30:49This fighter, very sparingly anyway, left jab by Simseri up top.
30:54Right hand by Simseri.
30:55That's been his best punch for the last few rounds.
30:58That right hand that just landed.
31:03Well, you mentioned he hasn't quite gone to the body as much with that right hand.
31:06And it might be because he's been caught a few times on the counter lefts when he goes
31:10to the body with his right hand.
31:12And that might be kind of playing in the decision making.
31:21Jab, jab, left from Araneta.
31:25That right hand has been almost non-existent from the Philippine fighter.
31:29Occasionally he paws a jab with it.
31:31But it is all about waiting for that left to unload.
31:37Right hand by Simseri.
31:39Good round from the Thai fighter again.
31:43Doing that much more than Araneta in that round.
31:47And maybe the Thai fighter putting that one in the bank as far as rounds go.
31:54Yeah, like you mentioned, we've said it sounds like a broken record at this point,
31:57but tough rounds to score.
31:59Yeah, they really are.
32:08But you can make a case.
32:09When Araneta is not throwing, the threat of power is not enough to win a round.
32:15You have to actually display that power, or at least the willingness to use it.
32:19And a lot of these rounds, it's Simseri that's doing the throwing.
32:22Now it's fairly sparingly, and there's not a lot of pop on it.
32:27But when there's no return, to your point exactly, it's difficult to kind of chalk
32:36that up as a round for yourself when you're getting outthrown and outlanded,
32:42despite maybe you not thinking there's too much damage coming to you.
32:46If you're not answering enough, or with enough power and enough force,
32:53you're going to give rounds away.
32:54In a championship fight like this, you can't afford to do that in any round.
32:58Exactly.
32:58And I wonder when the instructions to Araneta include something like,
33:03start throwing.
33:04You know, go forward and press the pace.
33:09We're seeing more of his jab this round.
33:12You can kind of tell what happens the first 30 seconds of a round,
33:14on what the fighter's been told between rounds.
33:18Araneta coming forward more in these,
33:22the first 40 seconds of this round than he has previously.
33:25There's that little double right hand from Simseri.
33:27He's found it a few times.
33:29Looks like he almost went forward again there.
33:33This jab, jab, left.
33:35With Araneta kind of backing straight up when he throws combinations,
33:38he's kind of finding that if he goes over the top with the right hand,
33:41and it's open again a second time.
33:48Simseri.
33:51Again on his back foot.
33:52You don't see that too often.
33:53You didn't see it that too often in the past out of Simseri.
33:56This reluctance to throw, but that left-handed power from Araneta,
34:03I think has caused some tactics to shift in the Simseri camp.
34:08I know for Simseri, if it's not broke, don't fix it almost at this point.
34:18He's throwing these two three-punch combinations.
34:21He's making sure that his right hand comes back up
34:24and watches for those big lefts from Araneta,
34:26and he's just kind of slowly but surely chipped away.
34:28And in this ninth round, despite the knockdown early on,
34:33this fight is very much in the air if it goes to the cards.
34:36I said it before.
34:38The lateral movement is deterring Araneta from planting and throwing.
34:43Last time I said that, he actually landed a left.
34:45But I think that theory bearing out with what we're seeing,
34:52is just Araneta is not letting go with those shots.
35:01And you can see...
35:02A combination thrown by Araneta, but it's only when Simseri is not moving.
35:05And you can see it.
35:06There is just that little extra turn.
35:08There's a little more zip on those shots than what we're seeing from Simseri,
35:11but just not enough activity.
35:17And again, Araneta is being a little more aggressive with that jab.
35:22And that jab is just so inconsequential,
35:25as far as a weapon goes for Araneta.
35:28But he hasn't thrown that big right-hand counter by Simseri.
35:33That's his best punch in quite some time.
35:35A bit of a wobble from Araneta.
35:36A left hand by Simseri.
35:39And heads came together there at the end of the round.
35:42But good work by Simseri at the end of that round.
35:46And, yeah, another cut has opened up.
35:50This time over the other eye of Araneta.
35:55Both fighters throwing and landing to end the round.
36:00And there the heads come together.
36:01There's the head clash.
36:03It's not good.
36:03We saw it there before the replay started.
36:05Gash over the right eye.
36:08Both men landing at the end of rounds.
36:13There's that left gash.
36:14Gash over the left eye that we've seen from the earlier rounds.
36:17And hasn't quite been bleeding too much,
36:20which is obviously due to the expert corner work.
36:23And hopefully they can work their magic over.
36:25Oof.
36:28Hopefully they can work their magic on the cut that's now over the right eyes
36:31due to that clash of heads.
36:33Yeah, you see it.
36:35Araneta's cut man, Jerry Castroverde.
36:37Really earning his money tonight.
36:42Both fighters cut men doing a good job to step the damage.
36:47The fairly obvious cuts that their charges have suffered.
36:52Round 10 of 12 underway.
36:53It's been close so far between Christian Araneta
36:58and Trunksuk Simsri in a battle for the junior flyweight world title.
37:06We're in the Oda City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
37:11Awaiting our main event between Brian Norman Jr. and Jin Sasaki.
37:14Jason Abelson and Adam Hunt here with you.
37:17Hope you're enjoying this great show by top rank.
37:23And the intriguing battle we've seen so far between these two fighters.
37:26In that last round, we saw Simsri double up on that right hand.
37:31He would throw a left and then a right and then a right right after it.
37:33And we'll see if Araneta maybe is able to clock that
37:37and comes back with a left of his own.
37:40Good work for both men there.
37:43I think Simsri did well at the end of that last round landing with power.
37:47When he does that, he opens himself to the counter left
37:50from Araneta, but it's a chance he has to take at this point.
37:56Pying right hook missing from Araneta.
38:00Left to the body, falling a tad short from Araneta.
38:02Maybe some bruising around the right eye of Araneta.
38:15And the blood leaking from the left eye of Araneta.
38:19In full view there.
38:26Jab up top by Simsri.
38:27Araneta biding his time.
38:37Simsri very deliberately moving to his left to avoid that power.
38:43Out of Araneta's left.
38:44Still not quite the urgency from Araneta despite being on the front foot for most of this.
39:03For most of this round there's still not quite as much activity as.
39:06Well it's the movement of Simsri I think it's causing problems for Araneta.
39:11He's not able to get off when Simsri is moving laterally.
39:16Sure we saw it even from the opening round.
39:19The side to side movement is he can't quite get a read and can't quite line up that big left.
39:24Just missed with one there did Araneta.
39:31Araneta getting a little frustrated I think by the pace of this fight.
39:34For Simsri just another responsible round.
39:42Kind of just activity without opening himself up too much.
39:45He must have learned his lesson from that knockdown in the third round.
39:48Hasn't been too many instances where he's kind of resigned himself to a firefight like we'd seen in the past.
39:55Heads coming together.
39:55Good left to the body by Araneta in that exchange.
39:58There's that left Araneta's big punch of the round.
40:06And the cut over the right eye doesn't seem to be that bad.
40:09It doesn't seem to be bleeding too much.
40:12We haven't seen the referee have any extra attention to it.
40:15Hasn't called in the ringside position to take a look in the middle of rounds which is usually a good sign.
40:20And that cut that opened up early over the eye of Simsri really handled well by his cut man.
40:29Asiyasa Motoishi.
40:32He's done a wonderful job.
40:39Two more rounds to go.
40:4011 of 12 underway here in Tokyo, Japan.
40:44Neither guy can really coast going into these last two rounds.
40:51There's too close to tell on a lot of these rounds.
40:55Obviously there was the third round which was the knockdown for Araneta so that's a 10-8.
40:59But every other round you can kind of make an argument for either guy.
41:04No, difficult fight to score.
41:05A lot of questions are going to be answered here if this does reach the final bell.
41:08And if you're the corner of Araneta you have to be telling him you have to up the pace.
41:14Because these close rounds could be going to Simsri.
41:19And it's only because Araneta is not throwing.
41:23It's not that Simsri is winning these rounds outright.
41:26It's that Araneta is making them close by not throwing.
41:31You never know exactly what goes through a judge's head for a very close round.
41:34But one guy just had slightly more active.
41:37They might side with that.
41:38They might side with you kind of carrying more of the power.
41:41But there's too many unknowns to sit back and rest.
41:47For either guy.
41:49A little uptick in activity here in these last two rounds to really set yourself apart.
41:55Good job by Simsri.
41:56Again, nothing in return from Araneta.
41:59And not much in advance from Simsri either.
42:07Good left of the body by Araneta.
42:13Another left of the body.
42:14It was a very conservative round 10 from Simsri.
42:16There wasn't as much output as we'd seen in previous rounds.
42:21And not a whole lot here in 11 either.
42:23Both guys kind of aware of the power that could come back if they leave themselves open.
42:28And in fact, this is one of the few rounds that you can say that the lack of action has
42:32actually favored Araneta in this round.
42:35He's done slightly more than Simsri in past rounds.
42:37It's been Simsri doing slightly more than Araneta.
42:42Araneta letting his hands go a little more frequently here in the 11th.
42:46Especially that left of the body.
42:49Up top, a right hand by Simsri.
42:53Not landing with full effect though.
42:55And for Araneta here, he has the reach advantage.
42:59He hasn't quite utilized his jab quite enough to keep Simsri at bay.
43:03Especially with that left hand being as effective as it is.
43:06If you have a couple of jabs and have some other shots to really set it up,
43:10I think it could be really effective here.
43:12Especially in the later rounds where Simsri might kind of feel that he's
43:15had the worst of it and been able to get through.
43:17And feels a little, maybe a little bit of safety here in these later rounds.
43:24Simsri.
43:26Good left hand by Simsri.
43:27For the most part, taking this round off.
43:29A key round.
43:32It's been Araneta that's been pushing the pace.
43:36One round to go.
43:4111 interesting rounds in the book.
43:44Between Christian Araneta and Saksimsri.
43:55There you see the Oda City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
43:59We are here live waiting for that main event between Brian Norman Jr. and Jim Sasaki.
44:04I know everybody is.
44:05If you're up at this hour, whether you're in North America or anywhere in the world,
44:10if you're watching this fight and watching this card,
44:13you're waiting with bated breaths for that main event.
44:19For these guys, you can't have any regrets about this 12th round.
44:22Both of them have worked so hard to get to this shot.
44:26Obviously, Araneta came up short against Notchinga.
44:29And has six fights since then and five knockouts to get to this point.
44:32And for Saksimsri, his lone loss came to Yabuki back in 2022.
44:37And he's been fighting for this world title shot ever since.
44:43Can't leave any stone unturned.
44:47Can't leave anything else in the tank here.
44:48Three minutes to go for a world title.
44:50Araneta pie with that jab, but at least he's throwing it now.
45:02Again, both men keeping everything in the holster for a good portion of this fight.
45:09Trying to battle for position and to avoid power.
45:15And it's made for some tough rounds to score.
45:19Jason Abelson and Adam Hunt with you here live from Tokyo.
45:24Araneta pie with the jab, and Saksimsri doing next to nothing so far.
45:39And this 12th round looking a lot like most of the previous 11.
45:43Saksimsri just really unwilling to get any closer than what he is right now.
46:01Almost half the round gone and kind of 50-50 here.
46:05Not a lot from either guy.
46:06And so one big moment could sway the judges and steal you this last round.
46:10And every round is so important when there's 12 of them.
46:13And you get the impression that's really weighing on Saksimsri.
46:16Because he's been countered before in this fight.
46:18And he's right now unwilling to get in and let those hands go.
46:23Knowing he could get countered by Araneta.
46:25Araneta not doing much else either.
46:28Maybe waiting for Saksimsri to come forward to land that counter.
46:31But Araneta is not exactly pressing the pace either.
46:38Final minute here.
46:39One big moment from either guy could really steal this entire round.
46:42Yeah, it's going to be a night of regret for one of these fighters.
46:45Just thinking about the opportunities not taken to come up with this title.
46:53Left hand blocked by Saksimsri.
46:57Heads coming together again.
47:00Araneta really trying to load up on a big left of the body there.
47:05Didn't quite land by the, once they got a little close they clinched up.
47:09Saksimsri just moving to his left constantly, cognizant of that left hand of Araneta.
47:17Jab up top.
47:20Missing from Saksimsri.
47:23Not much coming back from Araneta either.
47:28Jab, jab right by Saksimsri.
47:3110 seconds left.
47:35Right hand up top and underneath by Saksimsri.
47:38And that's the bell to end the 12th.
47:40Those little flurries like that Saksimsri had there at the end of the 12th.
47:47I mean, that could be the difference between this round and not having it.
47:50Well, I have to tell you, there's nothing else to judge that round on other than those
47:55little flurries by Saksimsri.
47:58Because you, in my mind, you can't give Araneta a round like that
48:02for simply having the power and not using it.
48:06There was a few times there in the opening kind of minute, minute and 20 seconds where
48:10Araneta was looking for, to set up that left and had a couple of jabs.
48:15Not a whole lot behind them, but still kind of had that activity.
48:17But towards the end of the round, it was Saksimsri who kind of opened it up a little bit, albeit
48:23a conservative opening.
48:24And how many times at the end of 12 rounds of a world championship fight
48:28does neither fighter celebrate?
48:30Because I don't think either one of them thinks they may have won the fight.
48:32I'm not sure if either of them know who's winning this one.
48:36I'm not sure if either of them are convinced they should have won it, to be honest with you.
48:47That knockdown in the third could be the difference.
48:55It very well could be.
48:56A 10-8 round like that could sway the cards.
49:17not only have.
49:23We will see you in a round of round of round of round of round.
49:27So about this and the start and start drives the field.
49:28So part of the board is to get rid of this place.
49:30We might run out of the round of round of round.
49:33I'm not sure if you have yet.
49:34Don't worry.
49:35So this is the right now.
49:37She's ready.
49:39Don't worry.
49:40Just turn it off.
49:42I'm not sure if you guys better.
49:45I'm not sure if you're ready.
49:46the new IBF light flyweight world champion after 12 I'm gonna say confusing rounds
50:16neither of us knew who the winner was neither of the fighters knew who it was in the end kind of what we had
