We went out into Manchester to ask people on the street about how well cyclists and drivers share the roads.
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name's Theo Hewson-Betz and today I'm going out onto the streets of Manchester
00:04to ask people about motorists and cyclists on the roads.
00:07We want to know how well people think that they share the road and what could be done to make it safer.
00:12Are you talking about stuff like cycle paths on main roads, doing things like they have in Manchester here, making it much more cycle friendly?
00:19I would say reasonably well, but we don't live in a city where there's probably bigger challenges, I guess.
00:24Yeah, why not? If you're on a bike, I'm going to support you out of the two because it's like, you know, you're less safe on a bicycle than in a car.
00:34The infrastructure's not set up to share, is it? Generally. If you can share it to Europe, it's not the same.
00:41And I've been a cyclist on the roads and it can be terrifying. So, yeah, I'm a pro-cyclist for sure.
00:47I mean, it is the proper cycle lanes. I think we've got one here just now, you know, in the cities. That's where you need it.
00:53Out in the rural areas, you've got to hope that people have got that thought.
