00:00Well, how about meeting the new ABBA?
00:03It's what a lot of people are calling Dad Harmony.
00:06It's a new Swedish acapella group that are the biggest TikTok sensation you can imagine.
00:13They are everywhere at the moment, and they join us now.
00:18Really good to see you.
00:19With us we have this morning Thomas, Michael, Sebastian, Peter and Adam.
00:23Not necessarily in that order, but I know we'll say it.
00:25There we go.
00:26Gents, it's really good to see you.
00:28I've got to ask, first and foremost, how did you get started?
00:30How do you even get together and think, this is something we can do?
00:34Yeah, it's actually all of a coincidence, to be honest.
00:37We were friends, but we were at Peter at the bachelor party.
00:43And like 10 p.m. or something, we started to sing.
00:47And I recorded that song, and for some reason I put it out on my TikTok account
00:52with like seven followers or something.
00:54And then it blew up and got like, the first video got 22 million views, I think.
01:01And then we thought like, yeah, we need to continue doing this.
01:06So that's how it all started.
01:08And did you know straight away that this was something special?
01:11Or was it only when you started to pick up all those followers?
01:13I think you've got something like two million followers on TikTok already, haven't you?
01:16That then you were like, no, people like this.
01:18We should keep going.
01:19Yeah, no, we had no idea from the start, of course.
01:23So we said to each other, like, we have to try one more video to see if this was a coincidence
01:29or what's going on.
01:30And then we tried another song, and it was also appreciated.
01:35So we just kept going with it.
01:37But how does it feel then to be going from this online and a growing online sensation
01:43to doing stuff in the flesh, in real life, and actually doing proper concerts?
01:49Yeah, it's, I think for, especially you, Thomas, you haven't been on stage for your, since school.
01:55Yeah.
01:55So, like, our first show was in the Swedish television.
02:00So that was special.
02:01Yeah.
02:02Yeah.
02:02What do your kids make of what you're doing?
02:04Because I think you've got something like 11 children between you, haven't you?
02:07So what, the kids must think their dad is so cool.
02:10Yeah, maybe.
02:11I don't know.
02:12Some of them are quite small.
02:14So I don't think they really get what we're doing.
02:17But they love to sing, and they love to hang out with each other.
02:20So that's great.
02:22And it's quite nice to see on TikTok the children actually get involved in the rehearsals,
02:26don't they?
02:26They'll often be on your laps or just kind of listening in as you're rehearsing together.
02:30It's lovely.
02:31Yeah, it's super nice.
02:32And we usually bring the kids to make it easier for our girlfriends at home.
02:37So we can bring them, and our kids can play when we sing.
02:40And if they want to, they come and join us when we sing and sit on the couch.
02:43Or if they want to go and play, they are somewhere else in the house and playing when we sing.
02:48What is happening next?
02:51I mean, Adela, because you've all got jobs.
02:53You've all got proper, normal jobs.
02:55Yeah.
02:55So is that going to stop now, do you think?
02:58I don't know.
03:00I hope you're not watching, my employer.
03:03We'll see.
03:04We'll see what happens in the future.
03:05The next thing for us here in the UK is coming back in November for a concert the 28th of November.
03:13Oh, great.
03:13And where will that be?
03:15Cadogan.
03:15Cadogan.
03:16Cadogan.
03:16We're not going to criticize you for getting a pronunciation wrong.
03:21Because I can tell you, my Swedish, all I can say is tack.
03:23That is it.
03:24Tack.
03:26How do you feel about the comparisons to ABBA?
03:30That's great, isn't it?
03:31Can Swedish people just sing really well?
03:33Is that a thing?
03:34I don't know.
03:34One Eurovision seven times.
03:36Go on.
03:37Yeah.
03:37Yeah.
03:38It's hard to answer that question.
03:40But it's, of course, yeah.
03:43Well, ABBA is ABBA, so.
03:45Yeah.
03:45I don't know if we have a...
03:47Maybe we have, like, a big song tradition in Sweden.
03:49I don't know about that.
03:50But it feels like we have that.
03:53And ABBA, of course, is...
03:55They were pioneers.
03:57Yeah.
03:57Yeah.
03:57In the area.
03:58And we love them in this country as well.
03:59Oh, we do.
04:00We do.
04:01We do.
04:01Maybe you're going to be pioneers in terms of a cappella.
04:04I mean, it's been around for a very long time.
04:06But to bring it back to a new audience, and a younger audience, is quite something.
04:11Yeah.
04:11Well, let's hope that we are bringing joy to the a cappella world,
04:15with what we're doing.
04:18But, yeah, we're hoping for that.
04:20All right, gents.
04:21We've been impressed by what we heard earlier on.
04:24Should we give everyone a bit of a treat?
04:26Absolutely.
04:26And you're in for a treat.
04:27Sounds good.
04:28Yeah.
04:28In your own time.
04:29Yeah.
04:29In your own time.
04:29You remember me when the west wind moves upon the fields of barley.
04:49You can tell it's sun in its jealous sky, among the fields of barley.
05:01Oh, I never made promises like these.
05:10Oh, and there have been some that are broken.
05:16Oh, but I swear to date you left as we walk in fields.
05:25Oh, brilliant.
05:38Absolutely incredible.
05:39I've got goosebumps.
05:40Beautiful.
05:40Just gorgeous.
05:42Well, look, gents, really good to see you this morning.
05:44And we look forward to seeing you in November.
05:46Yes.
05:47When you're back.
05:47We'll be there, cheering you on.
05:49Really good to see you.
05:50Thank you very much.
