oh yeah it is friday baby and we are talking about the management and we're not talking about one
00:14
manager all season no because um it might be news for a lot of wars fans but we've had two
00:18
two two that's two that's not one that's two different managers uh this year mr gary o neil
00:23
and mr vito herrera i think we're gonna be different uh grades for both of them this i
00:27
don't think they're because they've been particularly close let's be honest in terms of their
00:31
overall grade i think we were all even though the wolves finished the season poorly under gary o'neill
00:36
his first season in charge what he did i think was excellent but the way they started this season
00:41
and the amount of losses and took them a long long time to get that first win it was always going to
00:46
be he was always against it gary o'neill i think from the very very start and you can look to certain
00:51
situations not replacing max killman i think being one of those uh why it didn't work out for wolves
00:55
and you saw when they got someone in like i would do uh what change it made however there were a lot
01:01
of mistakes that gary o'neill made and i think that i think we both agree that he will come back
01:04
stronger i think we're both thinking he will make a good manager however he will definitely learn and
01:08
i think assess of some of the some of the band managerial decisions that were made this season
01:13
and you know it probably showed his experience and the only way you can improve is to get more
01:17
experience i think this will be a learning curve for gary o'neill of course sacked after that that awful
01:22
2-1 late defeat against ipswich in december and we saw the turnaround under vito perere in terms of
01:28
gary o'neill uh um look i mean stock was so high really going into pre-season wasn't it um you know
01:34
despite like i say that the fall off which you can understand with no forwards there back in the last
01:38
season but it was a disaster campaign there was some awful awful awful results um i mean too many to
01:45
mention really but like you say that that defeat away at brentford that that loss away everton the defeat to
01:51
home against ipswich you know being three of the many nails in the coffin that saw
01:55
gary o'neill as sacked as manager wolverhamson wanderers yeah it's an e for me i think i have
02:02
to agree you know i don't maybe d-minus at very best but i think that's probably been a little bit
02:07
kind um i think his overall wolves contribution in his time at the club is definitely higher than that
02:12
um i know some fans won't agree but we both think he's a a good coach and someone who will go do well
02:18
elsewhere but purely on this season it just didn't happen now things out of his control
02:22
in terms of recruitment obviously went against him but then he made his own mistakes as well
02:26
i mean set pieces all over the place the set piece coach was in and out within three months
02:31
and that was a mess um i think the decision over the midfielders and the formations was a mess
02:38
playing a back four was a mess and then a lot of the individual performances and results so
02:43
unfortunately um i think that's that is only fair really of the overall performance from gary
02:49
o'neill albeit i do think he's someone that will will come back stronger and do better elsewhere and
02:54
learn from this experience as well and in comes um on the 17th mr vito perera um what a man man the
03:07
myth of legend um turn this side around um i think beyond anyone's wildest dreams really to to
03:13
have wolves some way took them to to where they finish i know even they had a chance to be in
03:17
finishing 12th at one point um but then they finished 16th and there's that little tail off
03:21
towards the end of the season um a couple of um poor runs and that end to the season also in the
03:26
middle where they lost four games albeit against very good opposition uh but overall um look he was
03:31
in with them you know in the voting for manager of the season which just shows how highly he was
03:35
thought of not just internally but externally um magnificent and the way he's turned this
03:40
around the way he's made this team hard to beat some of the results that he got
03:43
um this was um this was a a city and a fan base that were completely torn apart really
03:50
and he's united them pies pints and with with fans i mean everything and everything he's done
03:56
in such a short space of time coming from saudi arabia as this journeyman to someone who is loved
04:00
and adored uh by by everyone really including the media you know i think he's he's just a magnificent
04:07
job and let's hope he gets back this summer because i think he deserves it and i think he will be
04:11
um they know how important he is to this to this football and to this group of players as well by
04:16
the way you need to get a group of players who are going to play for you and he definitely earned
04:20
that respect very very quickly had some difficult decisions to make and he wasn't he didn't mince his
04:25
words big decisions and he got them all right nearly all of them right i think that just showed in
04:30
the way that he the product he produced on the pitch um he deserves a lot of a lot of high
04:35
acknowledgement i think he has got that and i fully expect him to sign a long-term deal
04:39
at wolves going forward whether that be this off season or going into the start of next season i
04:43
think the the hierarchy and the movement at the top of the top of the football club maybe show that
04:48
they are all in on vita perera and and so they should be it's an it's an a plus for me and that's
04:54
that's regardless of some of the some of the defeat it's an a plus because of the change and where
04:59
wolves were i don't think they could have expected much more i'm going to go a um for a couple reasons
05:06
which i'll give but just very quickly before that completely agree on all that from a footballing
05:10
perspective there were lots of excellent performances that six game winning one of course
05:15
sticks out but more than anything bringing the fans and the club back together and that sort of
05:20
restoring that togetherness i thought was massive and the way he did it was was fantastic and he's a
05:25
real character a really interesting person so i think all of those things were massive massive pluses
05:30
i do think you know early january before they brought agba doing a couple of the players in
05:34
there was some there was some difficulty there with results and performances they ended the season
05:39
you know having one draw and three losses in the in the final four a couple of small things that
05:44
maybe take a little bit of the shine off which maybe leads me to do an a rather than a plus but
05:49
i'm also not mad at a plus because without vital prayer and other things i.e some of the players in
05:54
january so the decisions that were made wolves won't be in the premier league so i think that's
06:01
about right and if it doesn't start with an a it's not right because it was uh fantastic to deliver
06:07
i mean what would have been probably european football to to where they were um and one of
06:10
the worst teams in the football league i think that that's fair and look if we'll finish 16th next
06:14
year under vito parade when we're getting an a plus that's for certain they could finish
06:17
finish his 14th he won't be getting an a plus but i think just the job that he did in in
06:21
retrospect to where wolves were that's why i think given yes of course there's
06:24
some some things to improve and that's yeah i guess a plus is you can't improve on that but
06:28
just i think in the situation he came into lee and that's why um i'll give him an a plus but yeah a a
06:33
plus is a magnificent uh story is it is a story of um of what he's done and what he's come up come
06:39
about and you know what he delivered to this football club i want to thank veto i want to thank you
06:43
liam because it's been a long week we are friday and we've gone through and we've had the goalkeepers
06:47
the defenders the midfields the forwards and finished off with the management and we're excited to
06:52
see what is to come um both in pre-season and the season ahead from me from kino have a great weekend
06:58
and take care bye-bye
