Malinsgate Police Station in Telford is gearing up for it's big Open Police event which promises to be a huge family event.
Transcript
00:00We're here at Mallingsgate Police Station and introduce yourself sir.
00:03My name is Rich Jones, I'm the Town Centre Sergeant for West Mercy Police based at Mallingsgate Police Station.
00:07And who's your friends?
00:08This is Pila and PCSR Amy who is Pila's Handler.
00:13Cool, and is Pila behaving?
00:16Yes he is, he's nodding.
00:20Here boy!
00:21Pila's our new addition and he's joining us for our Open Day which is taking place this Sunday, so the 22nd of June.
00:27It also ties in with the 40th anniversary of Mallingsgate Police Station opening, so we're tying that in with the Ruby Anniversary, hence why Pila's playing with some balloons as you can see at the moment.
00:37Awesome.
00:38We're really looking forward to the event because obviously the weather's great, so we're inviting all the community to come down.
00:42It's a good time for us to be able to engage with our community but also people to be able to see behind the badge.
00:48It's a neighbourhood policing week for us as well, so we let officers see their community and obviously people in the community meet with the officers that work locally with them.
00:57We have over 30 of our partner agencies as well that are going to take place, so we've got the fire brigade there doing an RTC demonstration, so chopping the car up.
01:05We've got some of our police dogs that will also be on show, the ambulance service will be there.
01:10We've also got food vendors and various other partners, Telfer Tigers and our basketball team from North Telfer are coming down to show some of their skills.
01:22So again, it's anything really interactive and great for family and it's free.
01:26Awesome work, and it's just on the car park next to the police station.
01:30Yeah, this year it's all on Blue Willow, which is the big town centre car park next to the police station.
01:35So there's nothing happening on our police premises, it's on the premises right next door.
01:39So obviously we ask everybody to park in car parks around the town centre and then obviously visit us at the car park.
01:45Awesome. And Peelus Handler, PCSOA mate, we've been told not to leave dogs in hot cars.
01:54How's he going to manage with the heat on the weekend? Are you going to keep him well hydrated?
01:59Yeah, lots of water, lots of treats and lots of rest breaks as well.
02:05Great stuff. Well done Peelus. Shake a paw, shake a paw.
02:07Good boy. Good boy. Cheers guys.
