00:00The
01:00I'm Michael Cole, along with Kevin Kelly, and we're going to recap a wild week of the World Wrestling Federation, including the brutal street fight at Madison Square Garden for the Royal Rumble.
01:11And Kevin, an interesting matchup here to kick us off. Once again, it's Mentor against Pupil. The big boss man set to take on Prince Albert.
01:21The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Making it right in the lane from Cobb County, Georgia, weighing in at 305 pounds, the big boss man.
01:35The boss man against Prince Albert certainly promised to be a brutal affair, but I don't think anything could match up what happened at the Royal Rumble Michael between Triple H and Cactus Jack.
01:45Sure, Triple H is still the World Wrestling Federation champion, but he has absorbed a career-changing amount of punishment.
01:52I don't think Triple H will ever be the same.
01:55And also at the Royal Rumble, which you saw exclusively here on Channel 4 last week, the Royal Rumble match itself.
02:02Controversy swirling around the winner, The Rock, the people's champ. The big show claims The Rock's beat touches the floor first.
02:09Boston, Massachusetts, weighing in at 347 pounds, three, over.
02:16And the big show might have a legitimate beat. The big show says that he has evidence. He has proof that The Rock's two feet did indeed touch the floor.
02:25And that search for evidence continues. But until then, the big show has kind of aligned himself now, Michael, interestingly enough, with Triple H.
02:32And the one thread that those two men hold is very interesting.
02:35Yeah, hatred of The Rock, number one. But number two, the big show showing Triple H some fuzzy photographs from the Royal Rumble match yesterday on SmackDown.
02:43Triple H said, bring me some eyewitnesses. The bottom line is that the big show can prove that The Rock's feet actually did touch the floor, Kevin.
02:49Triple H is going to give the big show the opportunity to meet The Rock. The winner of that will meet Triple H at WrestleMania.
02:55But for now, it's The Rock heading to WrestleMania in April.
02:57And for now, Triple H is glad to have the big show on his side. And as we saw yesterday on SmackDown, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley are not shy about using that seven-foot monster.
03:08Yeah, you know, I like to call this, uh, this little reunion between the big show and Triple H an alliance of convenience.
03:15It helps Triple H because it allows the McMahon-Helmsley era to be stronger than ever.
03:19And it's also going to help the big show because eventually he may get a shot at The Rock.
03:23Well, one of the great stories told at the Royal Rumble is Bossman's opening up with some right hands on his former pupil was, of course, the debut of Taz.
03:31The New World Wrestling Federation Superstar stopped the undefeated streak of Kurt Angle.
03:35Kurt Angle will appear here in the hour.
03:37Kurt Angle feels, Michael, that his undefeated streak is still intact.
03:41Yeah, because he believes Taz used an illegal chokehold at the Royal Rumble.
03:44We'll talk all about that in a little bit as you see Prince Albert with the power heading on the way out to Bossman.
03:49You know, Bossman was one of these superstars who looked exceptional in the Royal Rumble match.
03:55He was in perhaps the longest of any superstars.
03:57I'll tell you, out of all the history of the Royal Rumble match, I think that this one was the most competitive ever.
04:03What a heat we have in store for you this week.
04:06Oh, wait a minute.
04:06Axel likes and the headbangers right out in front of us.
04:09Prince Albert tossed over the top rope by the big Bossman.
04:12It's the Acolytes and Headbangers in action later in the hour.
04:17Plus a look at the new restaurant, WWF New York in New York City.
04:22And look at Bossman celebrating.
04:26Right out here in front of us now, Michael.
04:28Look out now.
04:29Prince Albert went into the announce table.
04:31Face first and the hands of the Bossman.
04:34Oh, get him out of here.
04:37Bossman with the right hands of Prince Albert.
04:39We got a front-wheel row seat and Prince Albert getting a face-beaten.
04:44That big Bossman's in control of his former buddy, Prince Albert.
04:50I think the Bossman sees a lot of himself in Prince Albert.
04:53That's why the two of them paired up in the first place.
04:55But whether it was ego, who knows what the problems were, but it led to a split between the two in this contest here on heat.
05:01Speaking of ego's problems, what the hell is wrong with the Dudley Blues?
05:06Wow.
05:07You know, those two men are absolutely defensive.
05:08They're sociopaths, Michael.
05:10What they did to Terry was unspeakable.
05:12Yeah, Terry suffered whiplash, severe emotional trauma, head, neck, and back injuries.
05:17Miraculously, no broken bones.
05:18After Bubba Ray Dudley on Raw this past week, powerbombed Terry through a table for the sole reason that he was upset.
05:27The Hardy Boys beat he and Devon at the Royal Rumble in the first ever tag team table match.
05:31Well, we'll have to see how that impacts the spirit of the Hardy Boys.
05:35What a boot by Bossman.
05:37Cover now.
05:38There's two.
05:38And Prince Albert just gets the shoulder up.
05:40Michael, many say that Terry was the heart and soul behind the Hardy Boys.
05:44Their spiritual sister.
05:45They had a very close bond.
05:46Later on in the hour, Jonathan Coachman will sit down and talk to the Hardy Boys.
05:50And I've got to wonder if the Hardy Boys, while not suffering any physical trauma, maybe their emotional spirit is broken.
05:57And I've got to wonder if Coachman's going to be falling into the garbage cans this week on heat.
06:01Oh, man.
06:02That guy's a walking disaster.
06:03What a boot to the face by Bossman.
06:05Follows it up with a clothesline to the sternum now.
06:08And Prince Albert, look at that.
06:09Bossman just walked into that sidewalk slam by Prince Albert.
06:13Tremendous strike by the 350-pounder.
06:16Not too many physical specimens on this planet quite like Prince Albert, but he's here in the World Wrestling Federation.
06:21He's one of the huge physical superstars that you folks are beginning to see week after week here on heat.
06:27And you're seeing just how competitive the field is here in the World Wrestling Federation.
06:31Oh, man.
06:32Prince Albert exchanging blows.
06:34For those of you in Channel 4 just joining us, welcome to the World Wrestling Federation.
06:37Welcome to the unique brand of sports entertainment.
06:41What a kick by Prince Albert.
06:42And Prince Albert, who learned his craft, in part thanks to the big Bossman, is taking it out on his former teacher.
06:50Bossman is on track, Michael.
06:52He cannot educate himself from his predicament.
06:54Don't do this, Prince Albert.
06:56Referee Jack Doe trying to prevent him.
06:58And Jack Doe pops across the ramp.
07:00That's going to cost him.
07:01Welcome back to the WWF, Mr. Doe.
07:03Oh, man.
07:04This isn't good.
07:09That's going to cause a disqualification of Prince Albert.
07:14The World Dispatchers all the way to disqualification.
07:17The Big Bossman.
07:19Now, Prince Albert, I don't think he even cared if he won or lost, Kevin.
07:27Deceived to want to extract some vengeance.
07:30Wear out some of that frustration he's been feeling towards the Big Bossman.
07:33Wait a minute, Michael.
07:34Hey, Baldo.
07:37Baldo.
07:38Yeah, I'm talking to you.
07:40Now you're making me proud, boy.
07:44What was that all about?
07:46Oh, it's Baldo.
07:47So, Kevin, Prince Albert using the Big Bossman's knife deck against him.
07:51Welcome to Heat here on Channel 4.
07:52Michael Cole and Kevin Kelly at ringside.
07:54We've got a great show in store for you this afternoon.
07:56We certainly do.
07:57Not only did we just see the student battle the teacher, but a little later on,
08:01we'll see the Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle in action.
08:03And also, the coach is very busy, Michael.
08:05That's right.
08:06Coach is going to have an exclusive interview with the Hardy Boys.
08:10The Rock's back at WWF New York to autograph copies of his new best-selling book
08:14for the millions and millions of the Greatlands adoring fans.
08:18The Rock is signing his book right now as he speaks.
08:21It's the number one book in the country at record time, The Rock says.
08:25It's a testament to the millions and the millions of The Rock's fans.
08:28The Rock says he appreciates that, no doubt, if you smell what The Rock is looking at.
08:33You smell it.
08:34And check out the WWF Divas.
08:36Very same place the next day.
08:38Woo!
08:40And here's the scene at WWF New York yesterday
08:46with a host of WWF superstars on hand for a charity function.
08:50Go, go, go, go, go.
08:55Go, go, go.
08:58Go, go, go.
08:59Go, go, go.
09:01Go, go, go.
09:02Go, go, go.
09:03Go, go.
09:04Go, go, go.
09:06Go, go, go.
09:08Go, go, go.
09:10Go, go, go.
09:12Go, go, go, go.
09:14Go, go, go.
09:16Go, go, go.
09:18Go, go, go, go, go.
09:20Go, go, go, go.
09:22Go, go, go.
09:24And welcome to Radio with Attitude.
09:27This is Radio WWF.
09:29I'm Michael Cole.
09:29And we welcome you to the World Wrestling Federation.
09:32What?
09:33Brad John Road Dogger going at it in the studio.
09:35Brody, look out.
09:36Oh, no.
09:38Brother, I can't wait till you come back.
09:39We're going to light the world up.
09:41Believe me, I'd like to punch you right in your damn mouth so hard.
09:44This is Radio WWF.
09:45What is the strategy to win this Royal Rumble matchup?
09:48Don't get thrown over the top rope.
09:50This is Radio WWF.
09:52If you can survive me, there's not going to be a whole lot less for you in February.
09:56I will beat Cactus Jack worse than anybody.
10:00I don't care if it's in the States, in Japan.
10:03I will beat him worse than he has ever been beaten in his entire life.
10:09Royal Rumble weekend was wild in New York City.
10:12World Wrestling Federation superstars taking over the Big Apple.
10:15Right now, an exclusive interview.
10:17Jonathan Coachman sitting down with the high-flying risk takers, the Hardy Boys.
10:22Guys, thank you very much right here at Channel 4 Heat.
10:24We've got a new section here for you every week.
10:27We're going to be introducing you to different superstars and things you may not normally see
10:31on World Wrestling Federation television.
10:33And I'm joined this week, of course, by a dynamic duo, the High Flyers, the Hardy Boys.
10:37And, guys, I've got to ask you about what happened last week on Raw, what the Dudley Boys did to Terry.
10:41How are you guys doing mentally?
10:43Well, you know, we're all right.
10:45In case you didn't see Monday, Terry was put through a table by the Dudley Boys.
10:50And she's banged and bruised, but she's definitely not beaten.
10:54You know, Terry is one of the toughest women I know.
10:56Terry will be back in the corner of Matt and Jeff Hardy before it's all said and done.
10:59If you can believe that.
11:00And, you know, Terry's pretty messed up right now, but it's really messed up what the Dudley
11:04Boys did to her and their payback.
11:06It's on its way.
11:07We'll get to the Dudley Boys in just a second, but a lot of people over in the UK that may
11:11not be as familiar with you guys.
11:13We've got a lot of new fans over there.
11:14Kind of tell us where you guys are from and your backgrounds a little bit.
11:18I'm Matt Hardy, personally, and I'm from Canberra, North Carolina.
11:22I'm 25 years old.
11:24I've been wrestling since the end of 93, start of 94.
11:27And, you know, Jeff and I were basically two of the first people to ever do backyard wrestling.
11:31You know, we had our own trampoline and we cut down four trees and put garden hose with
11:37wire around them and we basically emulated wrestling that we saw on TV and we taught ourselves
11:40how to wrestle, you know, by that.
11:42And I'm Matt's brother, Jeff Hardy, I'm the younger, I'm 22 years old here in the World
11:48Wrestling Federation and it's just good to know that we are the WWF's youngest tag team
11:54champions ever.
11:55Now, of course, you guys, as you mentioned in the ring, it appears when I watch you and
12:01I know when the fans over in the UK watch that you guys seem like you're most at home
12:04when you are in the ring in the arena.
12:06Absolutely so.
12:07I mean, that's, you know, the whole while we've grown up, since we were, you know, nine
12:11and 12, we've been in the ring, we've been wrestling in one way, shape or form.
12:15And to be in the WWF is just the greatest accomplishment of all time and at such an early age, you know,
12:21we first broke in here, Jeff was 16, I was 19 when we wrestled our first matches, we were
12:26underneath the contract at ages 20 and 23.
12:29You know, and already, we've been the youngest tag team champions in history, we were part
12:33of the greatest ladder match in history and 99 was really a breakthrough year for us and
12:372000 was going to be even better.
12:39We'll talk about the most memorable moment.
12:42You mentioned the ladder match and I've seen it and a lot of people over in the UK have
12:46seen it as well.
12:46Is that your most memorable moment that you've had up to this point?
12:49By far.
12:50Yeah, by far.
12:51But I would have to say the Centon Bomb has done a lot for me here in the World Wrestling
12:55Federation or what I like to refer to as the Swanton Bomb.
13:00I started doing it off the top rope to the ring, now I'm doing it to the floor, I've done
13:03it off the stage, done it off the cage and last week I caught myself doing it
13:08off the balcony of Madison Square Garden, so it's created a lot of memories for me already.
13:14You know, when we look back at our career, you know, it was really great that we were
13:16the world tag team champions for, you know, for a matter of four or five weeks, but you
13:21have to say that the shining highlight of our career has been that ladder match because
13:24that's where we really turned the corner in our career and we kind of moved up to the
13:27next level.
13:29And we do it with Christian Edge, there's not two better guys I would have wanted to do it
13:32within the ring, and as long as we wrestle, I'm sure Matt Jeff Hardy will be remembered
13:36for that ladder match.
13:37Spectacular.
13:38Oh, it was fantastic.
13:39And you talk about some of the tag teams you've gone up against, you know, this past week
13:43you went up against the New Age Outlaws, Edge and Christian, but right now the guys you
13:47have to be looking out for will have to be the Dudley Boys.
13:50Absolutely.
13:51Well, the Dudley Boys and the Hardys have big issues now.
13:55You know, we go up to the table match at Royal Rumble where we defeated the Dudley Boys,
13:59and then the next night they come off, they say they respect us, but, you know, they turn
14:03that around, they come out, they beat us up, we both got 3D'd, and then they put Terry
14:07through a table.
14:08So, it's pretty much a fresh issue, and the Dudley Boys definitely have a receipt coming.
14:13And to really kick things off with the table match, I have no idea what's coming next,
14:18but I'm sure it's going to be insane and just out of control.
14:22You know, when you talk about the Dudley Boys, they are from extreme championship wrestling,
14:26you know, and they are extreme, and Jeff and I work that style as well.
14:29So, when we get together, there's definitely some battles that are going to take place.
14:32You know, the fact is, we're going to take care of the Dudleys, and then our big goal
14:35for the year 2000 is to become the World Tag Team Champions again.
14:38Well, there's no doubt in my mind that you guys can get it done.
14:40Always spectacular in the ring, guys.
14:42I appreciate it.
14:43Thanks, man.
14:43Of course, Matt and Jeff Hardy, the Hardy Boys.
14:46I am the coach, Jonathan Coachman.
14:47Both of these guys, their first trip, they're coming over to London Earl's Court on May 6th,
14:52so you'll want to get out and see them for now.
14:55That's it for right here on Heat Channel 4.
14:59Still to come on Heat, the Headbangers are in action against Farouk and Bradshaw.
15:04The Acolytes, and then on the ignition, it's from Carl T. Boston following his surgery
15:08in San Antonio, Texas.
15:09But coming up next, the man who thinks he's still undefeated, the Olympian.
15:14Turn Angle in action.
15:15Along with Kevin Kelly, you know, the World Wrestling Federation debuted its new entertainment
15:26complex right in the heart of Times Square in New York City.
15:30Jonathan Coach mid-file this report.
15:32Members of the media from around the world have gathered here on Times Square to check out the opening of WWF New York.
15:53And as the saying goes, there goes the neighborhood.
15:58Finally, the most electrifying sight in Times Square has come,
16:02and there it is, WWF New York.
16:04And of course, there's no better way to kick it off than with the Rock.
16:07Rockies! Rockies! Rockies! Rockies! Rockies!
16:10I like this about New York.
16:12New York knows how to throw a party.
16:16Look at all those people out there.
16:18They're here for one thing, and that's to see the two of us.
16:20Hands over.
16:21Right now.
16:23The WWF owns New York City.
16:26How would you describe WWF New York?
16:36It's phenomenal.
16:37There's an energy that is coursing through here like no place I've ever been.
16:45I would describe it as a Jericho-holic's euphoria and ambrosia.
16:52WF New York is the absolute best place in New York City.
16:59I've been to Times Square a thousand times over and over and over again.
17:03I come to this place, I see the dance floor, I hear the music, taste the food.
17:10WF New York is the place to be.
17:12When you come to New York City, it's the absolute place you need to come to.
17:19Well, it's the place Sugar Ray comes to.
17:21The popular band playing all their big hits in front of thousands of fans.
17:25Every morning there's a halo from the corner of my cup.
17:29It's for Popeye's dad.
17:32Sugar Ray's one hell of a band.
17:33Got a hell of a following.
17:35Good to have him here in WWF New York, so you did a pretty good job tonight.
17:39Ladies and gentlemen, they're in the rock!
17:41You know what?
17:41I came here tonight to do a rock and roll show, and I got rock and rolled all over.
17:44I think the people really like the band.
17:53I think they like the athletes a lot more, because I think the people wanted to see all
17:58of us come here.
17:59And the fans get to see the WWF superstars perform with Sugar Ray.
18:03It all starts with Terry.
18:05I believe in passion, and I felt passion welling up from the bottom of my toes to the top of
18:16my head, and I said, I need to be there.
18:19And then I motioned for my boys, and they came up, and you know, the rest of the WWF came
18:25up, and I think we all had a good time.
18:26All right, look at all my friends on stage.
18:29I didn't know I had so many good friends.
18:31Man, Sugar Ray, I always liked that song.
18:33I just want to fly.
18:36Give it up right.
18:38But I had to get up there, man.
18:39Give some of that.
18:41Big boss is in the house.
18:43Woo!
18:44I'm blown away.
18:45There's a lot of performers out here tonight.
18:46Just want to fly.
18:49And if Sugar Ray says goodbye, we're just saying hello to this brand new state-of-the-art
18:52complex.
18:53If anybody knows how to party, it's the WWF.
18:55And we proved it tonight to the ultimate party in New York City, and it's going to
19:00be the ultimate entertainment complex in New York City.
19:03This is the only place that every single person can come here and indeed smell what
19:09the rock is crooked.
19:12I'll tell you, that is some complex in New York City, WWF New York.
19:17If you're ever over here, folks, you might want to take a visit.
19:20A lot of history in WWF New York.
19:22The only contested the scale for a football.
19:25Making its way to the record in New York City, Pennsylvania.
19:28Weighing in at 237 pounds.
19:31Is the only Olympic gold medalist in grace?
19:34A World Wrestling Federation ring.
19:36And the most celebrated real athlete in the history of the WWF, Kurt Angle.
19:42So, Kevin, is Kurt Angle undefeated or is it he?
19:46The record books say no, but if Kurt Angle's fine, the answer is yes.
19:51It all happened at the Royal Rumble.
19:53It was Taz versus Kurt Angle.
19:55Taz choked Kurt Angle out.
19:57Kurt never tapped out, but he was out cold.
19:59And Angle believes Taz used an illegal chokehold.
20:01As all of you know, I am still undefeated here in the World Wrestling Federation.
20:10And there is one man that I compare myself to.
20:16His name is Cal Ripken.
20:19Great shortstop.
20:20Oh, yeah.
20:21Oh, yeah.
20:22That's baseball.
20:23Well, he's a major leaguer and holds the Iron Man record.
20:25The number one thing, if Mr. Ripken had a little more intensity, integrity, and intelligence,
20:34his streak would still be alive today.
20:39It would.
20:40It would.
20:41Lee, Kurt Angle's talking about Cal Ripken's streak for most consecutive baseball games.
20:46And his opponent, he weighs in at 304 pounds.
20:51Midian!
20:51Well, Kurt Angle's going to look to change his streak,
20:54which is currently a losing streak here against Midian here on Heat.
20:58You know, Taz made quite an impression, Michael, in the World Wrestling Federation.
21:02And I think Kurt Angle has to be looking over his shoulder.
21:04A guy like Taz doesn't care about wins and losses.
21:08He's going to care about opportunities.
21:09He's going to strike when the time is right.
21:11Taz, an overachiever from the streets of Brooklyn, New York.
21:14And the mainstream posse he had to knock down yesterday.
21:17Found out first hand.
21:19And Taz is a tough one.
21:20What about Kurt Angle?
21:21You know, he talks about integrity, Kevin,
21:23but yet he attacks from behind.
21:26Ambushed Taz on SmackDown yesterday.
21:28Well, of course, Kurt Angle should be concerned more with deeds and not words.
21:32But you look at Midian attacking Kurt Angle from behind.
21:34I think Midian might feel that Kurt Angle is a little bit vulnerable.
21:38Might feel that his psyche is a little bit fragile here.
21:40Midian's a veteran.
21:41Knows exactly what he's doing in there.
21:43Cover by Midian.
21:43Hooking the leg on Kurt Angle.
21:45And a kick out after a count of one.
21:47You know, talk about fragile.
21:48I hope the headbangers aren't fragile,
21:49because they're on a collision course with the Acolytes for later on.
21:53Indeed.
21:53We know that the headbangers pride themselves on freedom of expression.
21:57The Acolytes pretty much go through things expressionless.
22:00And that only expression they deal out is pain.
22:03Midian, oh, right across the sternum of Kurt Angle.
22:05Another cover of the Olympic champion.
22:08Midian looking good in the kick out after two.
22:10Well, you know, it's great to hear the Hardy boys just a few moments ago.
22:13Jonathan Coachman doing a great job as always.
22:14And, of course, you know, the Hardy boys might be down mentally right now,
22:18but they're not out.
22:19And I think, like they said, the Dudley boys are going to have their day.
22:22The Hardy boys will look to get revenge for Terry.
22:25Belly to belly from Kurt Angle on Midian.
22:27And later on in the program, we're going to have an update on the condition of Stone Cold Steve Austin,
22:33who underwent major surgery last week.
22:36Repaired a problem in his back.
22:40And coming up next, we'll take you back to the Royal Rumble.
22:43We'll look back at some of the great moments from the Intercontinental Championship triple threat match, Michael,
22:48that has Y2J now in charge.
22:51Kurt Angle with a big knockdown.
22:53And, you know, Angle better worry more about this matchup than his little celebrations in the ring
22:56or it's going to cost him.
23:00Midian backs into the corner.
23:01The former Olympic gold medalist in the 1996 Olympics represented the USA.
23:06Kurt Angle in control of Midian.
23:09Back to basics there for Kurt Angle.
23:13But again, the celebration.
23:17A little lack of focus, perhaps, with Kurt.
23:19And it cost him.
23:19You can't make mistakes with a veteran like Midian.
23:23Midian whipped into the ropes by Kurt Angle.
23:25Kicks the midsection.
23:27Look out now.
23:28Oh, man.
23:28Here we go.
23:29Here's the cover.
23:30Kurt Angle hooks the leg.
23:31There's two.
23:32And he got it.
23:33This one's over.
23:34Kurt Angle picks up the win over Midian.
23:37Kurt Angle!
23:41You're not undefeated, Kurt.
23:42You have one loss here in the World Wrestling Federation.
23:45And it's to a man named Taz.
23:47I'll tell you, Kurt Angle believes he's undefeated.
23:50Believes Taz used an illegal maneuver at the Royal Rumble.
23:54But speaking of the Royal Rumble, what a matchup.
23:56Triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship.
24:00That's right, Michael.
24:01It was for the undisputed Intercontinental Championship.
24:04China and Chris Jericho had entered this contest as co-champions.
24:07The both would relinquish their grasp of the gold and battle Hardcore Holly in a triple threat match.
24:13And indeed was triple threat.
24:14All three superstars tangling together at different times.
24:18But when all was said and done, it looked for a while as if China was going to walk away with the gold.
24:23Hardcore Holly gave it his all.
24:25The battle carried all over Madison Square Garden.
24:28Aerial artistry displayed.
24:30But when the final three count was told, it would be Chris Jericho.
24:34Y2J would have his hand raised in victory and would be declared the Intercontinental Champion.
24:39It was Chris Jericho knocking the ninth wonder of the world, China, over after China used Jericho's signature finish.
24:46The walls of Jericho.
24:47Jericho covered China, picked up the victory.
24:50He's now the Intercontinental Champ.
24:52And of course, the main event of the evening, Kevin.
24:54The Royal Rumble match.
24:5530 superstars involved.
24:57The winner to get a first class ticket to the main event at WrestleMania.
25:01All the superstars were involved, but it wasn't without controversy.
25:05Well, of course, it did boil down eventually to the final two men in the ring being The Rock and The Big Show.
25:11Remember, The Rock had called the entire field.
25:13Called them 29 jabronis.
25:15The Big Show was the only man to stand up to The Great One and say that indeed it would be he that goes to WrestleMania.
25:22But as the two battled throughout the ring, remember, it's an over-the-top battle royal.
25:26The Big Show took The Rock to school.
25:29And it was at this moment that The Big Show felt he won.
25:32Although The Rock was able to pull himself back in and was declared the winner.
25:36But to this date, Michael, controversy still broils as The Big Show felt he should have been declared the winner.
25:43The People's Champ, The Rock, picks up the victory in the Royal Rumble match and he's heading to WrestleMania.
25:49But this past week, The Rock took over MTV in New York City.
25:53Today, The Rock says he's taken over.
25:56And The Rock says he's going to lay it to smack it down on TRL and give the people the videos they want to see.
26:02If you smell what The Rock is cooking, it's TRL.
26:06Well, The Rock was here at MTV today in Times Square hosting Total Request Live.
26:10For one hour, it was a fantastic time.
26:13There were millions and millions of The Rock fans watching live and thousands and thousands of The Rock fans out there in Times Square.
26:18It was 10 a.m. this morning, so, you know, naturally, as always, The Rock appreciates The Rock.
26:22The People's Champion appreciates The People's Champion.
26:24Put your hands together and don't make it some noise for The People's Champion.
26:28Straight out of Miami, Florida, I give you The Rock!
26:32Well, they chose The Rock because The Rock is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment.
26:50The Rock has got that crossover appeal.
26:52He brings literally millions and millions of The Rock's fans to the table.
26:55The Rock's got a full plate, but he could always make room.
26:57Finally, it's The Rock who's coming back to the world!
27:04Well, after The Rock's performance, they're probably going to ask The Rock back right now to replace Carson Taylor,
27:08but The Rock's schedule's just too busy.
27:10Ready, ready, ready?
27:10Five, four, three, two, one.
27:14Well, cue, correct, beta?
27:15Ready.
27:16What's your question?
27:17I was wondering what music you're going to listen to to get pumped up for the Royal Rumble.
27:21Well, The Rock says this, Jessica.
27:22This Sunday, Royal Rumble live on pay-per-view right here in New York City.
27:26The Rock says this, he's going to listen to some Jay-Z, some DMX, some Dub-C.
27:37And, of course, no doubt, Dr. Trey.
27:40And this Sunday, The Rock guarantees to lay the smackdown on all their candy.
27:45The Rock would rate his performance on a scale of 1 to 10.
27:49The Rock's being a little humble, probably 82.
27:51Now, Curtis here with the news right now.
27:53And The Rock will tell you what's news.
27:54This is The Rock hosting TRL.
27:56I love that you're referring to yourself in the third person.
27:58I wish I could do that.
27:58Thank you for not hurting me.
28:00To sum up the experience The Rock had here at MTV hosting Total Request Live.
28:04It was, again, first-class production all the way.
28:07I would definitely love to do it again.
28:08And, you know, just to be here and, you know, with the energy that the audience had here.
28:14And The Rock says this, the people's VJs counting down your top 10 requests for the millions
28:18millions of Rock's fans.
28:22Now, right now, we've got someone on the phone.
28:24What's your name?
28:25My name is God.
28:25It doesn't matter what your name is.
28:28Simply electrifying and definitely MTV and Total Request Live smelled what The Rock was cooking.
28:33Coming up next here on Heat on Channel 4, the headbangers may get their heads banged as
28:40they take on Farouk and Bradshaw, the acolytes.
28:43Plus, Stone Cold Steve Austin underwent major surgery.
28:47We'll have an update to hear from the Texas Rattlesnake himself.
28:50Coming up next.
28:50Welcome back to Heat on Channel 4.
29:19Michael Cole along with Kevin Kelly in just a few minutes.
29:22Great action between the headbangers and the acolytes.
29:25But first, an update on the condition of Stone Cold Steve Austin, who underwent major surgery
29:30last week.
29:32Stone Cold Steve Austin had his surgery this morning.
29:35I'm happy to report to you that everything went very smoothly.
29:39He's, as you well know, a very healthy young man.
29:44He's well-muscled and has a very solid bone.
29:47What we're looking for is solid bone healing.
29:50We want that bone to heal solidly.
29:52Once the bone heals solidly, it's stronger than the disc that was there before.
29:55And that takes several months.
29:56It's at least three months more commonly, six to 12 months in that ballpark.
30:00But once the bone's solid, then there are no specific restrictions.
30:03Last night, Stone Cold Steve Austin joined us live on Radio WWF on Westwood One.
30:11It was his first interview since the surgery was conducted this past Monday.
30:15And we asked the Texas rattlesnake how he was feeling.
30:17I've got this damn collar on my neck.
30:20And, you know, the collar don't bother me so much.
30:23And only when I go to sleep and when I try to drink a damn beer, because I can't tilt my head back right.
30:27So I've got to drink all my beer through a straw right now.
30:30But other than that, I feel pretty damn good.
30:31Right now, I've got a few months waiting period while that bone fuses together and it heals up solid.
30:36And then I think then I'll really weigh out my future and kind of go by then.
30:41There's nothing like being in front of 20,000 people or more in an arena with a Triple H or a rock or an undertaker and being the main event and fighting for that belt.
30:51I mean, to me, that's what the business is all about.
30:55Believe me, you ain't seen the last of Stone Cold Steve Austin yet.
30:57I will be 100% kicking ass because that's the only way I know how to be in that ring.
31:02So I can't be toned down.
31:04If I can't go all out, then I can't do it at all.
31:06What a week it's been for The Rock.
31:08First, he won the Royal Rumble match to get a first-class ticket to WrestleMania.
31:11Then on Raw this past week, he was forced into a handicap match against Triple H and the Big Show.
31:16But Rikishi came down to actually team with The Rock.
31:19And then on SmackDown, Triple H tried to divide and conquer this new alliance, forcing The Rock to take on Rikishi one-on-one.
31:27What an ovation for the People's Champ, The Rock.
31:31But King, he's going to have his hands full against a well-over 400-pound Rikishi here tonight.
31:38He weighs in at 424 pounds.
31:43Rikishi.
31:43You know, King, Rock, and Rikishi were forced to go one-on-one in this matchup tonight by Triple H and Stephanie.
31:52Well, they were partners last week, but, you know, to be honest with you, Rock didn't know that he and Rikishi were going to be partners last week.
31:58Rikishi just showed up, I guess, sort out of the goodness of his heart to be Rock's partner.
32:02Yeah, we believed it was going to be Rock versus Triple H and the Big Show in a handicap match.
32:06And Rikishi came down to lend a hand to The Rock.
32:09But tonight, they go one-on-one against one another as Triple H and Stephanie hope to divide and conquer this alliance that was formed on Raw.
32:18You've got to admit, that's a brilliant strategy from the, well, from the Stephanie McMahon and the McMahon-Helftley era.
32:26Divide and conquer.
32:27I mean, drive that wedge in there.
32:28Make sure that these guys never, ever are able to form a tag team.
32:33Well, Triple H and Stephanie want to make sure that no other alliance, no other union becomes as powerful as the McMahon-Helftley era.
32:42Like a Rumpasaurus.
32:44And Rock and Rikishi staring at each other across the ring.
32:47Look at the intensity in the eyes of Rikishi.
32:52Well, I don't think Rikishi is intimidated at all by The Rock's reputation.
32:55And Rikishi knows if he, oh, if he were to sit with that on The Rock's face, what a reputation he'd make for himself.
33:01And in no way is The Rock intimidated by the well over 400-pound Rikishi Fatu.
33:06And Rikishi's right with the right hand.
33:08Rock's rocked it.
33:08Here we go.
33:09People's champ The Rock against Rikishi.
33:11One-on-one here on SmackDown.
33:13And Rikishi with a lot of power behind those right hands.
33:16A lot of power, a lot of weight.
33:17Rikishi whipped off the rope.
33:18Boom!
33:19With a close line.
33:20That's the big man on his feet.
33:21Look at how quick Rikishi's up.
33:23Look at this.
33:23Up again.
33:24Rock with the right hand.
33:26Reversal by Rikishi.
33:27Rock into the ropes.
33:29Rikishi misses to the right.
33:30And look at this.
33:31Come on!
33:31It's Rock by Rikishi.
33:33Think about over 400 pounds crashing into your rib as your back hits the mat.
33:38That could bust you all up inside.
33:41But that's nothing compared to what that rear end sitting on your face could do to you.
33:44Oh, man!
33:45Rikishi.
33:46Rikishi shot to the face of The Rock, the people's champ.
33:52Wobbling.
33:53Oh.
33:53And another one.
33:55The Rock on his way to WrestleMania at this point to face the champion.
33:58But the Big Show believes that he actually won the Royal Rumble match.
34:02And he's trying to prove it to Triple H and Stephanie.
34:04Well, he had proof.
34:05Oh, this is what I'm talking about.
34:06Uh-oh.
34:07Look out.
34:08Look out.
34:08It's right.
34:09Oh!
34:09Who's out of the way?
34:10The kick is to The Rock.
34:12Help him in this matchup.
34:13Oh, look at that.
34:14Oh!
34:15How'd he do that?
34:16Buster.
34:16Hook to the leg.
34:17Cover.
34:18And a kick out by Rikishi after two.
34:20Tremendous strength by the Brahma Bull.
34:24Well, I'm going to tell you, the reaction from the crowd is just a little different because,
34:30I mean, these are two of the most popular guys.
34:32Certainly, The Rock and the Rikishis become one of the most popular guys in the WWF.
34:36And now they're being forced to fight each other here tonight.
34:38Yeah, being forced by Triple H and Stephanie to fight each other.
34:41Triple H and Stephanie, along with DX King,
34:44they don't want any other alliance to get as strong as they are.
34:48They don't want any other challenge from any other union here in the WWF.
34:51Brilliant.
34:52Well, it was a good move.
34:53Wait a minute, Rock.
34:55Give me a break now.
34:56Rock going for Rikishi.
34:57Rikishi counters into a suplex.
35:00I told you.
35:02The smaller Rock's back,
35:04taking the majority of the blow as Rikishi rolls into the cover,
35:09and Rock kicks out after two.
35:10I know you've got to be impressed with Rikishi.
35:12He's hanging with The Rock.
35:13I am impressed with Rikishi.
35:14Can you imagine a win for Rikishi here?
35:16What that would do to elevate his career,
35:19if he could knock off the Prama ball?
35:22Well, I'll tell you,
35:23we all saw right here on SmackDown.
35:25Oh, Samoan drop of his own.
35:27Rock with a Samoan drop of his own.
35:29Cover.
35:30Hooks the leg.
35:31And somehow Rikishi gets his shoulder up.
35:33We all saw Rikishi take Triple H to the left.
35:36He almost beat Triple H for the WWF title here on SmackDown not long ago.
35:40Plus, I think that's one reason Triple H doesn't want his kind of build up a big head of steel,
35:44especially if you get aligned with The Rock.
35:46Yeah, and Rikishi could have run the Royal Rumble match as well.
35:49It took six men, six superstars,
35:52to eliminate Rikishi Sunday night in the Royal Rumble match.
35:55He's so agile for his big, you know, his big body.
36:00And his strength and his power.
36:01I mean, he just, he's worn The Rock there with one shot.
36:04You don't see many people do that.
36:05Oh, Rock kick to the mid.
36:06This is a class Rikishi with a DDT.
36:09But Rikishi popped right back up.
36:11What a hard hit!
36:12And a kick to the face.
36:13Did you see the way Rikishi popped up from that DDP?
36:17Oh, man!
36:18And then delivered the shot to the face.
36:20Uh-oh, wait a minute.
36:20I think, I think I know what's on Rikishi's mind here.
36:23And Rock is, is in trouble.
36:26Oh, look.
36:27What is Rikishi going to do here?
36:32Rock to his feet.
36:34He's letting the Rock it up for some reason.
36:36Oh, no!
36:36He's not going to try this.
36:38He's not going to try that spit-out pile driver, King.
36:40Rock counters.
36:42Rock bottom!
36:43Rock bottom!
36:44Rock bottom!
36:45Wait a minute!
36:47He couldn't do it.
36:48The weight was too much.
36:49I think Rock's leg came out.
36:50I think Rock, you're right, King.
36:52That was well over 400 pounds.
36:54The Rock trying to rock bottom Rikishi.
36:57And both men are down.
36:59Trying to lift that 400-pounder up over his head.
37:02Took so much out of the Rock.
37:04I've got to say, that wasn't a smart move on the front of the Rock.
37:07This guy, Rikishi, had already taken a lot out of Rock.
37:10Didn't try to do that move.
37:12While Rikishi trying to make it to his feet.
37:15The Rock coming alive as well.
37:17I see Rock's got a huge ego.
37:18The same ego that he used to call all these guys.
37:21And Rock's going to try it.
37:22Not again.
37:23No, he didn't.
37:23He got it.
37:24Now he got it.
37:25Rock bottom.
37:26Rock bottom on Rikishi.
37:27Telling the world to the Rock.
37:29Do the rock bottom to Rikishi.
37:31Well, see?
37:31That didn't show you.
37:32You never tell the Rock you can't do something.
37:34And get it done.
37:35To his feet again.
37:36Another right hand.
37:37Rikishi in trouble.
37:39Backing up the Rikishi in the corner.
37:42Uh-oh.
37:43And SmackDown only for good measure.
37:45The big man's down.
37:47Do you think they got a room big enough for Rikishi in the SmackDown Hotel?
37:50Oh!
37:52Rikishi into the turnbuckle.
37:55And look at the strength.
37:56Oh, there you go!
37:56And Rock into the referee.
37:58The referee's down.
37:59Belly to belly by Rikishi.
38:01Oh, Hefner's out.
38:02The referee's been knocked down.
38:04He got squashed.
38:05And Rikishi.
38:06Oh, no, King.
38:08And now, now the Rock's going to get squashed.
38:11Oh!
38:11Rikishi's staring at the people's champ.
38:16And he's dragging the Rock to the corner.
38:19He can't do this.
38:20He's not going to do this, King.
38:22Sure he can do it.
38:23We saw Rikishi do it to China on SmackDown last week.
38:27But now he's going to do it to the Rock.
38:28You're fixing to see gravity rear his ugly head here.
38:31This is well over 400 pounds.
38:34And speaking of my head, what is Rock's face going to look like
38:38after that massive, bulbous, 424 pounds
38:43from the second round?
38:45Right into the chest of the Rock.
38:49He's got the Rock.
38:50Rikishi has this one won, but wait a minute.
38:54The Big Show.
38:55The Big Show in the race.
38:57And he just knocked Rikishi for a loop.
39:00He was thinking,
39:00And Big Show swinging to the Rock, King.
39:03Now you're mine.
39:04The Big Show came for the Rock.
39:05Wait a minute.
39:08The Big Show screaming to the Rock.
39:09Now you're mine.
39:11Well, I'll tell you something.
39:12This is what the Big Show has wanted ever since the Royal Rumble.
39:15He wanted another shot at the Rock.
39:17Look at that.
39:17Joke slam.
39:18Joke slam.
39:19And here's Triple A.
39:21The game in the ring.
39:24The champion.
39:25The WF champion.
39:26The WF champion.
39:26The WF.
39:27Pedigree Rikishi.
39:29A pedigree to Rikishi.
39:31A joke slam to the Rock.
39:32And the assault continues.
39:34And here comes Stephanie.
39:34Triple H is white.
39:36Stephanie McMahon helps leave with the championship belt.
39:39Watches on as Triple H and Big Show continue the carnage on the Rock.
39:44And Rikishi.
39:45It has been too cool.
39:47What is this?
39:48Rikishi's running, buddy.
39:50Too cool into the ring.
39:51And Big Show and Triple H hammering away to Grandmaster Sensei.
39:55And Scotty Dua.
39:57These guys are getting destroyed.
39:59This new alliance to the Big Show.
40:02Leaving carnage in the ring.
40:05Oh, no.
40:07A pedigree to Scotty Duhati.
40:10And Triple H is calling for a double-choke slam at Too Cool.
40:14Double-choke slam.
40:16Too Cool.
40:17The Rock.
40:18Oh, my gosh.
40:19Rikishi left lane at the hand of the Big Show and Triple H.
40:23Destruction.
40:36I'll tell you, the Big Show and Triple H, that alliance is scary.
40:41It definitely is, Michael.
40:42The following tag team's got just its schedule for windfall.
40:46Making their way to the rain.
40:47A combined weight on 490 pounds.
40:51Watch and pressure.
40:53The Hitchbanger.
40:55We called it earlier an alliance of convenience.
40:58It certainly was very convenient, very prosperous for the McMahon-Helmsley era to have the Big Show on their side.
41:04Can you imagine what it would be like for Triple H and all of DX to be able to rely on the Big Show at a moment's notice?
41:12To be able to call on a seven-foot monster like that.
41:16Hey, Kevin, it looks like the Headbangers have been in the Jonathan Coachman collection.
41:19Wow.
41:20Picked out a couple of beauties there, Thrasher.
41:22Nicely done.
41:24You know, the last few weeks, we've been hearing some really rude, nasty, and derogatory comments.
41:32Like weirdos and freaks and other stuff like that.
41:38To all of you, I say this.
41:40Hey, thanks for noticing.
41:44And then there's been other people coming up to us and going,
41:47Headbangers, why the face paint?
41:50Why the skirt?
41:51Why the cones?
41:53Why?
41:54Because we can.
41:56And it's some embarrassing crap getting the crap kicked out of you by a couple of guys wearing skirts and cones.
42:05So, Acolytes, we think you suck.
42:08So, come down here and find out exactly how embarrassing it is.
42:13Oh, no. I don't believe that you've done this.
42:15That is wise.
42:16Why in the world did you make Farouk and Bradshaw any more angry than they are?
42:20Zero opponent at a combined weight of 578 pounds, Bradshaw and Farouk, the Acolytes.
42:29Looked like Farouk was just making sure that he heard what he heard.
42:32Say, Bradshaw, can you say what I think he said?
42:34Bradshaw said, yep.
42:36Well, the Headbangers better take out their life insurance policy.
42:38Masha and Thrasher try to cut off Farouk and Bradshaw on the path.
42:42Here we go for what will not be a quote-unquote wrestling match.
42:47The Acolytes have made their legacy known here in the World Wrestling Federation
42:51on this exact form of brutality.
42:54This is what they love to do.
42:56Farouk hammering away on Thrasher, the two legal men in the ring.
42:58This match underway.
43:00Thrasher off the ropes.
43:01Thrasher misses right hand.
43:02Nice standing dropkick by Thrasher up underneath the chin.
43:05Great to hear that Stone Cold Steve Austin surgery went so well.
43:08Absolutely.
43:09And Stone Cold's mental state is very strong.
43:11And I think the Rattlesnake's future is very bright.
43:14What a slam by Farouk.
43:16Calls for the boot.
43:17Face first.
43:19Into that big size 14 that Bradshaw wears.
43:21I tell you, you've got to give it up to the Acolytes.
43:23Their contest with the Outlaws at the Royal Rumble.
43:26It was a war.
43:27X-Pac helped play the difference in allowing the Outlaws to keep the gold.
43:31The Acolytes aren't done pursuing the tag team champions, though.
43:34Speaking of X-Pac, what in the world is wrong with that guy?
43:37Well, very shameful actions by X-Pac.
43:40You saw them yesterday on SmackDown.
43:42And of course, now X-Pac has Tory by his side.
43:45And I feel so badly for Kane.
43:47His heart absolutely broken by his former best friend.
43:50And now his former first girlfriend.
43:52You know, who's more shameful at all than X-Pac or Tory?
43:56A little bit of a couple, of course.
43:58And X-Pac, I think, is the instigator in all this.
44:01He's the one that probably went after Tory.
44:03I mean, she's never been all that mentally stable, either.
44:07Watch on the ropes.
44:08He walked right into Bradshaw.
44:09Look out.
44:10Fall away slam by Bradshaw.
44:14You know, Kane has been heartbroken.
44:15Stabbed in the back yet again.
44:17Uh-oh.
44:17Abandoned again.
44:20Oh, no.
44:21Farouk.
44:22How about this?
44:22I want a good look at this.
44:23No.
44:24Oh, damn.
44:25That's a good look, all right.
44:27Thanks, Mr. Farouk.
44:30What are you thanking him for?
44:31See, I'm taking the opposite approach of the headbangers.
44:35You say, mister.
44:36You say, please.
44:37You say, thank you.
44:38You maybe leave the area with your head still intact.
44:41Yeah, maybe.
44:41Maybe.
44:42There's no promises.
44:43Cover by Bradshaw and Moss.
44:44There's two.
44:45And a kick out by Moss.
44:46Hey, come on, man.
44:47You know, I think if I was in a match against the Acolytes,
44:49I'd probably just go in and lay down and let them cover me.
44:51Oh, and I'm sure they would just do that, Michael.
44:54I can just see that.
44:55You and Coachman and the tag team against the Acolytes.
44:57Oh, man.
44:58Big knockdown by Bradshaw and Farouk.
45:01Coachman's big buddies with the Acolytes, too.
45:03Wait a minute.
45:04Look at this.
45:04Look at this.
45:05The strength.
45:07There's a cover and a kick out after two.
45:08Doing a one-arm push-up across the man's chest.
45:12Oh, no.
45:12Rolls him over.
45:13Small package.
45:13Could be an up-stit to kick out after two.
45:16And Farouk didn't take too kindly.
45:18Tomas almost pulling the quick one.
45:20Here's a cover.
45:21There's two.
45:21And again, Moss gets the shoulder up.
45:23Way as tough as the Acolytes are,
45:24you've got to give it up for their athletic prowess.
45:26You saw Farouk quick as a cack back on his feet.
45:29And at first to the attack, Spinebuster.
45:31Here's a cover again by Farouk.
45:33Folks, this one is over.
45:35The Acolytes pick up the win over the Headbangers.
45:39Here are your winners, the Acolytes.
