Alphabet Inc.'s Waymo announced the expansion of its autonomous taxi service into new areas across California, according to a post on X. The rollout includes parts of the Bay Area and the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Inglewood and Silverlake. The announcement follows a temporary service halt in Downtown LA after anti-ICE protests led to vandalism and damage to multiple Waymo vehicles. Despite the disruption, Waymo continues to lead in the U.S. Robotaxi market and recently surpassed 10 million paid autonomous rides. Rival Tesla is set to launch its own Robotaxi service in Austin on June 22, highlighting growing competition in the space.
