Amazon’s autonomous vehicle subsidiary Zoox will begin testing its self-driving vehicles in Atlanta this summer, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Tuesday. The move adds to growing activity in the region. Alphabet's Waymo launched a limited rollout with Uber in Atlanta this week, following Lyft's announced partnership with May Mobility last fall. Zoox also plans to begin offering public rides in San Francisco and Las Vegas, with a major production expansion scheduled for 2026. Co-founder Jesse Levinson said a new facility in California’s Bay Area will support the ramp-up beyond the current Fremont site. The expansion comes as the Trump administration pushes to ease self-driving regulations amid rising competition from China’s BYD.
