Step-by-Step Guide to Wudu (Ablution): Intention (Niyyah):
Make the intention in your heart that you are performing wudu for the sake of Allah to purify yourself for prayer.
It is not necessary to say it aloud.
Say Bismillah:
Say "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah) before starting.
Wash Hands (3 times):
Wash both hands up to the wrists, starting with the right hand, then the left.
Make sure water reaches between the fingers.
Rinse the Mouth (3 times):
Take water into your right hand and rinse your mouth well each time.
Rinse the Nose (3 times):
Sniff water into your nostrils with the right hand and blow it out with the left hand.
Wash the Face (3 times):
Wash your face from the hairline to the chin and from ear to ear.
Wash the Arms (3 times):
Wash the right arm including the elbow, then the left arm, making sure water covers the whole area.
Wipe the Head (Masah – once):
Wet your hands and wipe over your head from front to back and back to front.
This is done only once.
Wipe the Ears (once):
With the same wet hands, use your index fingers to wipe the inside of the ears and thumbs for the back.
Wash the Feet (3 times):
Wash the right foot including the ankle, then the left.
Make sure to wash between the toes.
Dua After Wudu (Supplication): “Ashhadu an la ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluhu.” (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, He is alone, no partner has He. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.)
Important Notes: Wudu must be performed in the correct order.
If any part is missed, the wudu is incomplete.
Clean water must be used.
Wudu breaks if you: use the bathroom, sleep lying down, pass gas, or lose consciousness.
