00:11Pekan Police Chief Superintendent Mohammad Zaidi Madzin said the accident involved a

00:15proton weera carrying the family of five and a lorry.

00:19Initial investigations revealed that the driver, 44-year-old Jamal Azizul Samat, was heading

00:25from Kuantan to Segamat, when he is believed to have lost control while overtaking another

00:30vehicle.

00:31The car veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming lorry.

00:36Jamal and his wife, 41-year-old Lizawati Abdullah, died at the scene from serious injuries.

00:43Their bodies were sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, HTAA in Kuantan, for post-mortem

00:49examination.

00:50Their three children, aged 6 to 17, sustained injuries to the head, face and abdomen, and

00:56were taken to HTAA for treatment.

00:59The 31-year-old lorry driver was unharmed, while his two passengers, aged 24 and 37, suffered

01:06minor injuries.

01:08The case is being investigated under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act, 1987,

01:16for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
