Mumbai, June 17, 2025 (ANI): On MHADA issuing a redevelopment tender for Kamathipura in South Mumbai, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC said, "Kamathipura's red-light area is only a small part of this redevelopment plan. If you look at the larger picture, there is Bhendi Bazaar, where the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust is working on 16.5 acres. Kamathipura consists of 15 lanes with 943 cessed buildings, 349 non-cessed buildings, 14 religious places, and 2 BMC-run schools. When we talk about redevelopment, it must be done in an integrated manner under Regulation 339 of the Development Control and Promotion Regulations (DCPR) 2034, which applies across Mumbai. MHADA has taken the decision to redevelop these buildings through cluster redevelopment under this regulation. It is a historic redevelopment effort for the Kamathipura area..."
