G7 leaders participated in an economic roundtable on Monday in Canada.
Transcript
00:00To integrate those countries that had been behind the iron curtain of communism and to accelerate the flow of capital and trade to the developing world.
00:12Twenty-three years ago, the G7 met here in Kananaskis, we were just talking about, and that was when the world was still reeling from the aftershocks of 9-11, another turning point in history.
00:24And amongst the many decisions taken were control of the spread of weapons, of mass destruction, something we'll be coming back to.
00:34So as I said, we're meeting at one of those hinge moments, those turning points in history.
00:39The world's more divided and dangerous.
00:41Hostile states and terrorists have expanded their capabilities in the Greek, threatening global security in our local communities.
00:48Global commerce, energy systems, even intelligence, are all being rewired.
00:55En tant que membre du G7, nous avons la possibilité de fasciner le monde du monde, du monde d'ouceur, du prospère, du juste et du libre.
01:06Mais le G7 doit s'adapter, doit arriver à ses fins.
01:11Nostalgia isn't the strategy.
01:15We have to change with the times and to build a better world.
01:19And some of you, such as you, Mr. President, have anticipated these massive changes and are taking bold measures to address them.
01:27All of us around this table are reinforcing our militaries and security services for the new world.
01:34But we all know that there could be no security without economic prosperity, and no prosperity without resilience.
01:43And in a world where shocks flow across the border, that resilience comes from cooperation.
01:48Cooperation starts around this table.
01:52Cooperation that can lead to the new era of prosperity.
01:56Energy security, critical mailings, artificial intelligence, quantum, combating human smuggling.
02:02And French national depression.
02:05So we will have open, frank discussions over the course of the next two days.
02:10We might not agree on absolutely every issue.
02:13But where we will cooperate, we will make an enormous difference for our citizens and for the world.
02:22And bring the next era of prosperity and I hope to benefit from our research.
02:27And back to cela, merci beaucoup, les membres de l'Idea.
02:33Thank you, colleagues.
02:34We have some work to do, which we'll begin in a moment.
