00:00The box office numbers are in, and no surprise, moviegoers chose family-friendly movies for Father's Day weekend.
00:08How to Train Your Dragon from Universal Pictures notched the top spot, raking in nearly $84 million at the box office,
00:15better than estimates of about $70 million.
00:17That was the franchise's best domestic opening weekend.
00:21Meanwhile, Disney's live-action remake of Lilo and Stitch was dethroned to number two
00:26after holding the number one spot for the previous three consecutive weekends.
00:30That brought in another $15.5 million domestically, for a grand total of over $858 million globally since it's released.
00:40Domestically, it's the second-highest-grossing film of 2025.
00:44Both movies were well-received.
00:45How to Train Your Dragon has an audience score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes,
00:50whereas Lilo and Stitch has an audience rating of 93%.
