We went out into Manchester to ask people on the street about the places and meals that they would be eyeing up if they knew that it was going to be their last meal ever.
00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Kuchenbets and today I'm out on the streets of Manchester asking people about food.
00:06Now particularly one of the things that's gone sort of viral on social media over the last year or so is this idea of last meals.
00:13And what you would have. We're going to be asking people for a Manchester centric last meal.
00:18We're going to give them the option if they can start as main desserts if they want.
00:21If there's just a main course that sticks in their mind particularly strongly, well then how on earth could we try and take that away from them?
00:29It's a very tough question to be honest. There's a lot of brilliant restaurants and bars here in Manchester with some awesome food and drink servings.
00:36So let's go out and see what people have to say.
00:39I think Don Giovanni was one of my go-tos for Italian. That was good.
00:44Oh, I like the flat iron steak, like the flat iron steak.
00:47But sometimes they have like special like wagyu ones and last time I was there for my birthday there was a wagyu one and that was gorgeous.
00:53And it all comes like pre-cut for you and you get a little like beef popcorn and stuff.
00:57It's really nice. That's really cute.
01:00I'm going to go with, I mean my main is going to be from New Wave Ramen.
01:07They do an amazing, like a lamb ramen thing which is really spicy and I really like that.
01:13I'm not really a dessert person so I'm probably going to skip that.
01:17Like drinks, any of the Guinness bars?
01:19I would drink that's actually anywhere.
01:20I'd just go to the castle for a cozy pint, I think. That would be nice, yeah.
01:23A Guinness, yeah, that would be really nice, yeah. I'd go for a Guinness at the castle.
01:28I mean, I think there's like, there's chain ones that, like Wagyu Mammon's and stuff like that, that have nice sars.
01:34But yeah, because the Korean chicken at Wagyu Mammon's is nice for a salsa, the little crispy Korean chicken.
01:40But mainly we just went to, what was it called?
01:42Ezra and Jill?
01:44Ezra and Jill, yeah.
01:45Yeah, we've just been there, yeah. I had the Poke Bowl, which is really, really nice.
01:48I'd probably pick that because that was really lovely.
01:50The starters are probably my favourite thing.
01:54But, oh, do you know what? I get something, I get like a nibbly thing from Bundabust probably.
02:00It's a winner, it always, it's always decent, it always delivers.
02:03I'll go for, oh, I don't know, it's not really a starter, but I go for aquafries, I'm always in the mood for those.
02:08There's a really nice place in Worsley called Coal and Cotton, which is really nice and that's got really nice food and drinks, lovely beer garden as well.
02:15That's really, really nice and that's literally Worsley, obviously, outskirts of great Manchester, so that's very nice.
02:21I'd save any of your food anywhere now in this weather with a beer garden.
02:24Now, every now and again on Manchester World, we ask a question where I think, well, I kind of want to answer it.
02:28So even though you didn't ask, here we go.
02:31Starter-wise, I'm going to skip.
02:32I'm not usually a starter man, I don't have enough money.
02:35Main course, Rita's Reign in the Piccadilly Gardens food market thing, their mixed fusion box is just brilliant.
02:42Oh, curry goat, jollof rice, rice and peas and some jerk chicken too, it's brilliant.
02:48And for dessert, I'd be crazy not to go with one of the many pastries that Factory Coffee has down there.
02:54It's a brilliant range of things and definitely worth giving a try to.
