02:30I want to brief you on a serious incident that involved an Air India aircraft a short while ago.
02:36But first and most importantly, I would like to express our deep sorrow about this event.
02:41This is a difficult day for all of us at Air India, and our efforts now are focused entirely on the needs of our passengers, crew members, their families and loved ones.
02:53I know that there are many questions, and at this stage, I will not be able to answer all of them, but I do want to share the information we have at this time.
03:03Air India flight AI-171, operated with a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, travelling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, has been involved in an accident after takeoff.
03:17Flight AI-171 was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board.
03:25Of the passengers, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, there are seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national.
03:38The injured passengers have been taken by local authorities to the nearest hospitals, and we are actively working with the authorities on all emergency response efforts.
03:49Our special team of caregivers from Air India is on their way to Ahmedabad to provide additional support.
03:56The investigations will take time, but anything we can do now, we are doing.
04:03We know that many people are concerned for the welfare of their loved ones.

05:28I am totally shaken by the incident that has happened today near Ahmedabad airport.
05:49This is a very tragic and horrific.
05:54Even till now, I have to say, I am in a state of shock.
05:57Honourable PM has called me and told me to be there at the site and look at the operations which are going on right now.
06:04If you ask me, I can only think about the passengers, their families, what they might be going through and especially the civilians who are near the crash site.
06:17A lot of relief effort has been done already right from Indian Army, NDRF, state police, medical departments including aviation concern departments. Everyone has attended immediately the fire department. To the best of their abilities they have been functioning here and doing the rescue operations.
06:47The plane crash was terrible. I've already told them anything we can do. It's a big country, a strong country. They'll handle it, I'm sure. But I let them know that anything we can do will be over there immediately.
07:12But it was a horrific crash. It looks like most are gone. They actually maybe have a couple survivors which is just hurt. But that was a horrible crash. Nobody knows. Nobody has any idea what it might be. I gave them a couple of pointers. I said maybe you'll look at this or that. You know, we saw the plane. It looked like it was flying pretty well. It didn't look like there was an explosion.
07:36It just looked like the engines maybe lost power. But boy, that is a terrible crash. It's one of the worst in aviation history. Yeah.

07:44The work that we build up with a village right now. It's been a terrible crash. It's been a bad crash. I think that it is a terrible crash. You know, we could be driving on the boat.
