00:00I think I'd be a little careful, Lex. I don't think that packaging is going to contain that kaiju.
00:05Here's your look at McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse, The Superman Movie, Lex Luthor, and Baby Kaiju.
00:10The Superman Movie
00:40He has invented the means by which he can multiply his hatred for the Kryptonian superhero and banish him from Earth forever.
00:48Baby kaiju, a genetically grown creature, is unleashed into Metropolis.
00:51Increasing in size and at an advanced rate, he soon becomes a threat to the entire city.
00:57That baby kaiju reminds me of a sea monkey.
00:59Well, except for sea monkeys don't last as long.
01:01Sea monkeys, you also have to feed yeast.
01:03And sea monkeys technically don't grow to large, massive sizes and destroy entire cities.
01:08Either way, though, let's take the tape measure now and see how tall the new Superman Lex Luthor stands.
01:13Then, of course, we'll also have a look at the baby kaiju.
01:16Taking the tape measure as promised, Lex Luthor is going to stand at 7 inches in height.
01:21That works out to be a figure that's 18 centimeters tall.
01:24Going considerably smaller, down to there,
01:27the kaiju is only going to be standing at 2 inches in height, or roughly about 5 centimeters tall.
01:32While maybe not making as much sense when we had him displayed with Cabell,
01:36at least when you're displaying Nicholas Holt's Lex Luthor along with David Cornswet's Superman,
01:41sizing really isn't as much of the issue.
01:44Nicholas Holt actually stands at 6'3", David Cornswet is 6'4",
01:48so at least the sizing of these two figures make a little bit more sense.
01:52Unlike that Superman, though, this is at least being released as a deluxe theatrical edition.
01:56That means then that Lex Luthor gets a few extra frills that the other Superman never had before.
02:01Though, in the upcoming review, we will also be looking at the deluxe theatrical edition of Superman
02:05that's going to then give him a few extra things that the basic release of that David Superman never really had before.
02:12On to, though, the accessories that come in clear with this version of Lex Luthor.
02:15First, the figure does come in clear with the display stand.
02:17It really isn't that much different at all from the one that we got with the Superman.
02:20It's a little bit maybe darker in color, but the plastic does change from time to time.
02:24I mean, it still has the DC logo branded down below, still has the pegs off to the far corner.
02:29This version of Luthor also does come included with a sort of an illustrated card rather than source material
02:35to bring then in Superman's.
02:37One thing I do wish, though, is that they could have kept the border around this.
02:40Now, again, we're only comparing really the DC Multiverse basic release of Superman
02:44against what would then be a theatrical card.
02:47The theatrical card of Superman, I would imagine, would work the same where it's not going to have also a white border.
02:52If you look at the back of the cards, too, the cards actually look very more similar on the back.
02:56The real name, funny enough, though, for Lex Luthor is N.A.
02:59Why does it say N.A.?
03:01We already know that his name is Lex Luthor.
03:04Baby Kaiju, I don't think, really has a name other than just being called Baby Kaiju.
03:07Why is his real name N.A.?
03:11I'll leave it to you to decide.
03:13Though Timejumper, who's already seen the movie, will probably already tell me,
03:15well, that's not really Lex Luthor.
03:17That's a clone.
03:17Oh, just give it away to everybody.
03:19I don't think he's a clone.
03:20Or is he?
03:21On to, though, the rest of the accessories that come in clear with Lex Luthor.
03:24The figure does have a little baby Kaiju.
03:27First of all, I was surprised that this Kaiju actually did possess some poseability.
03:31You can take the arms and you can move them back and forth.
03:33I mean, really not by much, though.
03:34That's about as far as you can really go.
03:36You can also rotate the head back and forth, too.
03:38Now, there is a mega figure version of the Baby Kaiju.
03:41Not so little anymore.
03:43I would love to get my hands on that one as well.
03:45I would imagine it's probably going to be very similar to the look of this Baby Kaiju.
03:48But again, like we find out in the movie, it's going to start to grow in size.
03:52It's obviously not destroying much in the way of cities right now.
03:54Unless you have like little tiny Lego buildings.
03:58Then it would be able to smash through that.
04:01All in all, though, it's a nice little included accessory.
04:03I do kind of wish, though, that Luthor could have come include with some hand accessories
04:06rather than just also a Baby Kaiju.
04:08To be fair, though, he does also have some swappable hands right now.
04:11He does have, I guess, sort of somewhat gripping hands.
04:15He does also have a closed fist.
04:16And he also has a pointing hand, which is actually very similar to the hand that he has over here.
04:21It's just, it's flipped onto this side.
04:23So he has this kind of hand.
04:25And then he has, which is actually funny, though, because like, if you look at Corrin Sweat's Superman,
04:29he had actually a very similar style of hand.
04:31I know it's, I know it's not the same.
04:33If he did want to change out the hand, though, it's just a case of holding onto his forearm,
04:36just popping off the peg, popping the hand off from the peg,
04:39and replacing then with a hand.
04:41There you go.
04:42So these hands are now very, somewhat close to one another.
04:45I think I probably will just end up having him display.
04:47I don't really think that, like, these hands change all that much for his posture
04:50or the way he's standing.
04:52There is actually rather something interesting about my version of Lex Luthor.
04:55Should we talk about it first, then talk about his heads?
04:58Okay, we'll do that.
04:59Getting this guy in the packaging, I don't know if you noticed at the beginning,
05:02but you may already notice it now.
05:03Now, I've got this kind of rippled area of his shoulder.
05:07I don't know how it got there.
05:09My guess is the way that they put it in the packaging,
05:11they probably lifted up the shoulder by accident.
05:14So if you're, like, putting it down,
05:16the clamshell surrounding that probably would have lifted up the shoulder.
05:19And he spent all this time with the shoulder plastic peeled or curled up like this.
05:25So unfortunately, mine is a little bit damaged.
05:28This side isn't bad at all.
05:29I mean, it's come pretty conformed to the rest of his shoulder.
05:32But unfortunately, this side, he's got this big air hole.
05:36He could blow right in there and keep him cool.
05:38Yeah, I'm going to see if maybe I can heat this up just a little bit.
05:41The thing that's really a detriment to this figure is the fact that all the top of his torso
05:45is very soft plastic.
05:47Soft on the front, squishy on the sides.
05:49And that is also one thing that's contributing to the fact he's got himself now free air conditioning
05:53in the tops of his suits.
05:55Again, I'm going to see maybe if I can take a hairdryer,
05:58soften it up just a few passes,
05:59and then I'll see if I can hold down this and cool it down
06:03so that it looks like this and it doesn't look like this.
06:07To look at this, though, I can't help but wonder,
06:09why wouldn't they have just used harder plastic?
06:11Does it benefit at all for this figure having this?
06:14I mean, I can understand maybe with the shoulders,
06:16using a softer plastic then may allow his arms to rotate all the way around.
06:19But it comes at the price, though, of his torso being so very squishy.
06:24The head sculpt, though, for Luthor isn't bad.
06:27Sort of in the way that I don't like Korn Sweat's Superman suit,
06:31I feel like Nicholas Holt is a good look to Luthor,
06:34but every single time the guy talks, I feel like his voice is too high.
06:39I don't know, maybe it's just me.
06:40He does also have, though, three alternate head sculpts,
06:43being that this guy is a theatrical addition.
06:45So he has this version face.
06:47Then he has one that's very similar, which is this one right here.
06:51It's funny, though, enough that I'm looking at actually both these heads,
06:53because I think that this one looks more like Nicholas.
06:57What do you think?
06:58Also, I couldn't help but also notice, too,
06:59that his chin seems a little longer on the alternate than it does on the original.
07:05I think for me, I'm going to probably display him
07:07either with this head sculpt or the other option.
07:09The figure does also have a smiling face.
07:12All of these head can be swapped out.
07:14You just hold on to the torso, as squishy as it may be.
07:17Pop the head off from the peg.
07:18Find the head that you want to then use.
07:21Do you want to go with this one or do you want to go with the smiling one?
07:23Okay, we'll go with the smiling one.
07:25In preparation to this, I also went in there and heated up the socket.
07:28I had a hard time earlier trying to get this onto the ball peg.
07:31Even now, I really have to fight to get that on there.
07:36Give me strength.
07:37There we go.
07:38And then it's on his neck.
07:40Again, I like the look of the smiling Luthor.
07:41Or, I don't know, he kind of does come across like he's a little bit of a man-child.
07:45I shouldn't even say that to man-childs out there.
07:48If you're a man-child and you still enjoy watching these reviews,
07:50despite my feelings of Lex Luthor looking like a man-child,
07:53I apologize in advance.
07:56Again, looking at his suit, the suit looks pretty good, though.
07:58I mean, the suit and the vest are all one piece,
08:01and the one piece is a very soft plastic.
08:03His arms, at least, and his legs, at least, are a harder plastic.
08:07The coloring of his legs aren't really quite the same color as the purple,
08:10but I think it's pretty close.
08:11Now, if you had another suited character, whether it maybe be the Scarecrow,
08:15it could also have been maybe the Court of the Owls.
08:17We've also got a set of that with Nightwing.
08:19You probably could easily then use the torso piece,
08:22or really the whole entire body,
08:23and then just use Lex Luthor's head sculpt and swap it around that way.
08:28From what at least I remember,
08:29I think Scarecrow had a few issues where he had too much paint built up.
08:33They painted across the tops of his shoulders for reasons unknown.
08:36Maybe I might end up using the Court of Owls body for the alternate head sculpt.
08:39Because, again, I have, like, you know, rolling the dice here.
08:42I've got a few extra heads for Luthor.
08:43Maybe I might just end up using one of those.
08:45Use this, and then use it with the body of the Court of the Owls.
08:48But, again, like, overall, like, the body looks pretty good.
08:50I'm looking, though, at the legs,
08:51and I can't help but think that we've seen this before.
08:53A Joker?
08:54Maybe a Joker?
08:55Maybe it was, like, the Heath Ledger Joker.
08:57Really should have brought that figure in for comparisons.
08:59But, overall, I think the sculpting holds up generally well.
09:03I think, though, like, the bicep is maybe a little too puffy here,
09:06where it looks like he's barely fitting into the suits.
09:10Very massive in the biceps.
09:12Luthor, I didn't realize you were working out.
09:14But for the figure's articulation,
09:16yeah, we're going to go back to the head sculpt here.
09:17The head's going to rotate all the way around.
09:20I don't know why it was reluctant to do that.
09:21Head's going to look up a lot higher, though, than David's.
09:24Head's going to look down.
09:24You can also move it back and forth as well.
09:26As for his arms,
09:28now, again, you could maybe make the argument
09:30that the reasoning why they made the plastic soft like this for his torso
09:33was so that the arms could do what they're doing right now,
09:35and that they can also do this.
09:37Now, again, you can get a T-pose,
09:39but I don't know.
09:40I still feel like using a harder plastic
09:42would have worked a little bit better for the suits.
09:44He has a bicep swivel there,
09:45bicep swivel here.
09:47He has an elbow joint here.
09:48Double hinge, the same on this side, too.
09:50Hands rotate also all the way around.
09:52You can hinge them back and forth.
09:54The softer plastic does wonders, though,
09:56for Luther being able to rotate his...
09:57He can do the twist all night long.
09:59Rotate it forward and back, side to side.
10:02Legs do split out.
10:04You can take the legs and move them forward.
10:05You can move them back.
10:06There's a very mild, very, very mild swivel
10:09at the top of the thigh.
10:10More so, much more mobility in the knees
10:13because he has a double hinge there.
10:15One thing I will say, though,
10:16I want to make sure I kind of point out all the details.
10:18The top of his leg,
10:19the lower end of his leg,
10:20are more of a dark purple plastic.
10:22Yet the knee that's dividing the two villages together,
10:24you can see,
10:25is a little bit more lighter of a purple plastic.
10:27It's pretty close,
10:28but, I mean,
10:28now that you look at it,
10:29you probably can see
10:30it's not really quite the same purple.
10:33But again,
10:33he does have a double knee bend there.
10:36Of course,
10:36you've got the articulation
10:37where it counts as his ankle.
10:38You can rock it back and forth there as well.
10:40And Nicholas Holtz,
10:41Lex Luthor,
10:42does also have toe articulation.
10:44It's a nice-looking Luthor.
10:46I mean,
10:46I'm a little, obviously,
10:47bummed out by the fact
10:48that, again,
10:48this guy,
10:49the packaging,
10:49even when I opened up the box
10:51because I ordered this guy online.
10:52I mean,
10:52good luck even finding any of these
10:54as a Canadian collector in stores.
10:56Forget about it.
10:57However,
10:58though,
10:58I did order this guy online.
10:59Even when I kind of opened up the box
11:01the first time
11:01and I was kind of taking out
11:02the figures I was buying.
11:04I did notice,
11:05though,
11:05that Lex Luthor's shoulder
11:07seemed like it was a little curled,
11:08a little frayed,
11:09a little peeled.
11:10And I'm like,
11:11maybe it's just the plastic around it.
11:13You know,
11:13again,
11:13maybe it's distorting the way
11:15that the figure looks.
11:16No.
11:16No,
11:17actually,
11:17my shoulder on Lex Luthor was,
11:19again,
11:19you can see it right there.
11:20It's peeled up.
11:21He's getting free air conditioning.
11:22If you have picked up this Lex Luthor,
11:24let me know down below
11:25in the comments section
11:26if you've also had similar issues
11:28where his shoulder is curled.
11:30Again,
11:31one of the big things about that
11:32is using a softer plastic like that.
11:34It is going to be holding that form.
11:36So if it was put in the package
11:37the wrong way,
11:38it's going to stay that way
11:39even whether I take the packaging open
11:41or even if I open it or not.
11:43Now,
11:43again,
11:43with these two figures,
11:44there's a bit of a price difference.
11:45Lex Luthor,
11:46as a deluxe theatrical edition,
11:49sells for,
11:49I think,
11:50about like $8 more.
11:52If I'm kind of looking at the price
11:53of what I paid for Superman,
11:54I want to say that he was more
11:56around that $32 price
11:57where maybe even Lex Luthor was $44.
11:59So it could have even been
12:01a $10 difference between the two.
12:02It was also a $10 difference as well
12:04with the deluxe theatrical Superman
12:06that we will also keep
12:07popping that,
12:08keep plugging that,
12:09that we're going to be looking at
12:10in an upcoming review as well.
12:11The theatricals do seem to be selling
12:13for about $10 more.
12:14$10 at least,
12:15though,
12:15gives for Lex Luthor,
12:16not only a baby kaiju,
12:18but a couple of other head sculpts
12:20that you can also display
12:21not only with this body,
12:23but if you happen to have
12:24another suited DC multiverse figure,
12:26want to just decapitate
12:27the head on that one
12:28and use one of these
12:29Luthor heads instead.
12:30I'm glad,
12:31at least for the different asking price,
12:33Lex Luthor is justified
12:34by all the things
12:35the figure comes included with.
12:36You know,
12:36to add another $10 or so dollars
12:38on top of what a standard
12:39DC multiverse figure would be,
12:41you'd hope,
12:42though,
12:42that he would have
12:42just more than a baby kaiju.
12:44Having that he had
12:45two extra additional head sculpts
12:47and some swappable hands,
12:49I think myself
12:50can justify
12:50why the figure
12:51is asking for more.
12:53Even again,
12:53when we looked at
12:54the theatrical Superman,
12:55having three swappable face plates,
12:57then he's also going to have crypto,
12:58yeah,
12:59I think I could say
12:59that that's enough for me
13:01to spend the extra $10 or so dollars
13:03to get this figure.
13:04Granted,
13:04though,
13:04again,
13:04I had to order
13:05these ones online.
13:06I mean,
13:07the first thing
13:07when I first took
13:08Lex Luthor out of the packaging,
13:09I sort of first looked at the,
13:11and I thought,
13:12okay,
13:12maybe again,
13:12like the way that the clamshell
13:13is kind of squished
13:14against his shoulder,
13:16maybe it's making it look
13:17a lot more worse
13:18than what it actually is.
13:19No,
13:19getting Lex Luthor
13:20out of the packaging,
13:21his shoulder was curled like that.
13:23A lot of it is just,
13:24again,
13:25soft plastic
13:26plus forcing the figure
13:27into the clamshell
13:28equals
13:29sort of a frayed shoulder.
13:31I'm hoping,
13:32though,
13:32that it's not going to be
13:32an issue that's with
13:33all the Lex Luthor's
13:35because,
13:35again,
13:35using softer plastic
13:36like that,
13:37that could result
13:38in having free air conditioning
13:39on the side of his shoulder.
13:41If you have picked up
13:42Lex Luthor,
13:42let me know down below
13:43in the comments section
13:44if your figure
13:45has that same issue.
13:47Of course,
13:47we could have fixed
13:48this issue right away
13:49by just making the figures
13:50using a harder plastic,
13:51but I think making
13:52a softer torso
13:53probably could be contributing
13:54to why the figure
13:55has much easier time
13:57moving his shoulders out.
13:58It just means that
13:58with that goes the trade-off
14:00that unfortunately
14:01on my figure
14:01he's a little bit frayed.
14:03What do you guys think
14:04of Lex Luthor?
14:04Let me know down below
14:05in the comments section.
14:07Do you also feel like
14:08Nicholas Holt
14:08is a good choice
14:09for Lex Luthor?
14:11Ideally,
14:11though,
14:11I would have really preferred
14:12to have an older Lex Luthor.
14:14I can understand,
14:14though,
14:14with the changing of the guards
14:15they also want to bring in
14:16younger stars
14:18because we'd like to hope
14:19that if Superman
14:20does well in theaters,
14:22we're going to see,
14:23though,
14:23the superhero
14:23and the supervillain
14:25clash back and forth
14:27in future subsequent sequels.
14:30I can't,
14:31I could maybe get behind that.
14:32I still can't get behind
14:33the fact that I think
14:34he sounds a little too light.
14:36Nicholas Holt
14:36I don't think really has
14:37that kind of deep
14:38Lex Luthor voice,
14:40but again,
14:40what do I know?
14:41I'm just a deep-sounding
14:42old guy
14:43that's working behind
14:44the camera here.
14:44But again,
14:45if you guys did enjoy
14:46this video,
14:46yeah,
14:47do it as well.
14:47Throw it a like.
14:48You guys want to stick around
14:49for more so?
14:50I hope so.
14:51We are wrapping up things
14:51right now for Lex Luthor,
14:53but coming through
14:53the pipeline going
14:54thump,
14:54thump,
14:55thump,
14:56thump,
