The cast of After This Death came out for the debut of the film from writer/director Lucio Castro at SVA Theater at the Tribeca Festival this week. We spoke with him and the film's leading lady, Mía Maestro who plays opposite Lee Pace. Castro's creation that blurs genres follows a woman played by Maestro after falling into a lustful affair with Pace's character, a mysterious frontman. She is forced to reckon with her own deep-seated desires and sense of purpose after he vanishes, leaving her caught between his toxic fans and ideals of what could be. 00:07Yeah, so it's the U.S. premiere of my film, After His Death.
00:10We're very excited because we shot it in upstate New York,
00:12so all our crew will be here, cast, and friends.
00:16The film is a wonderful tour de force that this woman goes through,
00:19and it's a very mysterious, special film,
00:23so we cannot wait for people to watch it.
00:25And the film is really this woman that's really at this point in her life
00:28where she needs to decide what to do when something really, you know,
00:31strong happens to her, so it's, you know, she's really thrown at her, you know,
00:36to make her really decide something that she needs to decide to, yeah,
00:40to change the course of her life, I guess.
00:42It was amazing. Lee and I have been friends for a long time,
00:45so, yeah, it's always good to work with dear, dear friends.
00:48I think it's a really special film.
00:50I think it really, it's a fusion of very different genres.
00:54It's shot in a very specific way as well,
00:56so I really hope that people are moved by it, but also surprised, you know.
