00:00Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:29My name is Belen de los Santos.
00:31I'm from the Teresor Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:33We begin with the news.
00:34Iran fired on Friday dozens of ballistic missiles towards the territory illegally occupied
00:41by Israel in response to Tel Aviv's onslaught against nuclear facilities of the Persian
00:47nation during the early hours of June 13th.
00:51According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran, the Persian nation has launched
00:56the Operation True Promise 3 aimed at giving what it describes as a destructive and precise
01:02response against dozens of targets of the Zionist regime.
01:06Iran's response follows a message from its supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, who vowed to
01:12respond with force to the Israeli attacks early Friday morning.
01:22And Iran raised a red flag of revenge at the Hamkara Mosque in the city of Qom after Israeli
01:29attacks on Friday.
01:30Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that after the attacks perpetrated by
01:35Israel that the country would certainly face a painful fate.
01:45Precisely in this context, the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei addressed the
01:49nation ahead of the attack on Israel, warning the Zionist regime of the consequences of
01:56the strikes.
01:57The Zionist regime has made a great mistake, a great failure, a blunder whose consequences
02:09will lead it to ruin, so help it God.
02:18The Iranian people will not forgive the shed blood of their precious martyrs, nor will they
02:24overlook the violation of the country's airspace.
02:30In addition, the Iranian Supreme Leader stated to have the full support of the armed forces
02:36are prepared and have the backing of the country's leaders, as well as of all the people.
02:56Similar messages have been issued today from all the various political factions, as well
03:03as from all the various social sectors of the country.
03:11Everyone feels that we must act with force against the perfidious, infamous and terrorist
03:17Zionist entity.
03:23We must act with force and, God willing, we will act with force and we will not spare them.
03:31Life will be better for them without a doubt.
03:41Also in this context, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, Alba TCP, condemned
03:47the attacks perpetrated by Israel against Iran and warned that they put the world peace and
03:53the international security at risk.
03:55In an official communique, the regional bloc accused the Zionist regime of being once more
03:59the perpetrator and cause of havoc and distress suffered by the countries of West Asia and
04:06of completely ignoring the rules of coexistence between states.
04:09The text also considered that the Israeli aggression is a threat to all humanity with unimaginable
04:16consequences and reiterated the full solidarity of the bloc's member countries with the Iranian
04:22people and government.
04:29Cuba also condemned on Friday the Zionist attacks against Iran and blamed Tel Aviv and Washington
04:35for the consequences of an unjustified war against the Persian nation.
04:40In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Havana said the attacks
04:45violated the United Nations Charter and the international law, including the principles of sovereignty and
04:52of non-threat or use of force against the territorial integrity of any state.
04:56The text accuses the United States of supporting Israel with military financial logistics and political
05:03aids, without which the Zionist state could not carry out its aggressive policies.
05:09The Caribbean island also reiterated its solidarity with the people and government of Iran and called
05:15the international community and the United Nations Security Council to end the aggression with
05:21the impunity of the Zionist regime.
05:30And now let's take a closer look at which areas were targeted by the Iranian retaliatory attacks
05:37on Israel.
05:41The missiles reached the city of Tel Aviv, the headquarters of the Defense Ministry of the
05:46Zionist regime and several points in the city of Haifa.
05:51The Dimona Nuclear Power Plant, the Financial Center of Tel Aviv and the Ministry of Economy were also hit.
05:58The missiles also fell on Tel Aviv Air Base and the gas platform of the coast of the Gaza Strip.
06:05This action came after the Zionist regime carried out a series of attacks in the early hours
06:12of Friday against several Iranian regions, causing the death of high-racking military officers
06:19and nuclear scientists.
06:22As the Israeli regime launches renewed attacks on Iranian nuclear power plants in Natanz, Tabriz
06:28and Shiraz, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the IAEA expressed concern about the consequences of these strikes.
06:37At an agency meeting, Director General Rafael Grossi said they are currently in contact with the Iranian nuclear
06:43safety authorities to assess the status of the targeted facilities.
06:47President Tan's nuclear plant located in Isfahan is considered the most important in the nation and has been the target of multiple attacks in the past.
06:56After the recent Israeli strikes, the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization unveiled that contamination has been detected inside the nuclear site, but not outside the complex.
07:08In this regard, the IAEA Director General stressed that nuclear facilities must never be attacked, regardless of the context or circumstances.
07:23In this regard, the IAEA was informed of the military operation launched by Israel, which includes attacks on nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
07:40We are currently in contact with the Iranian nuclear safety authorities to ascertain the status of relevant nuclear facilities and to assess any wider impacts on nuclear safety and security.
07:55At present, the competent Iranian authorities have confirmed that the Natanz enrichment site has been impacted and that there are no elevated radiation levels.
08:08They have also reported that at present, the Esfahan and Fordow sites have not been impacted.
08:16This development is deeply concerning.
08:18I have repeatedly stated that nuclear facilities must never be attacked, regardless of the context or circumstances, as it could harm both people and the environment.
08:34Such attacks have serious implications for nuclear safety, security and safeguards, as well as regional and international peace and security.

09:05Welcome back to From the South.
09:06U.S. citizens have been rallying against the immigration policies of the Trump administration.
09:11More protests supporting the cause burst out lately in several cities of the country.
09:16Seven days after the onset of demonstrations, President Trump ordered the deployment of over 4,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles City in his attempt to repress protesters, as the police could not stop them.
09:30Meanwhile, the California governor's office filed a case in federal court to demand commanding again the National Guard, which had been suspended by the Court of Appeals.
09:41Even though the spread of troops to quell rally cities such as Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Boston, New York and Chicago have joined mobilizations in rejection of the repressive immigration model implemented by Washington.
09:55We stay in the United States, as on Friday, Jennifer Vasquez addressed ahead of his court hearing the status of husband, Kilmar Abrego, a Salvadoran migrant illegally deported, who was returned to stand trial in the U.S.
10:14Kilmar was taken on March 12th, and it was not until yesterday that I was able to visit him for the first time.
10:26I'm grateful for everyone who has been fighting for this milestone and this fight to bring my husband back home with our children.
10:37In other topics, this Friday in the Vatican City, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Ordinary Republican Sistory to establish the date for the canonization of Eighth Blast, among them Venezuelans Jose Gregorio Hernandez and Carmen Rendiles.
10:51The Supreme Pontiff summoned the Cardinals present in Rome to participate in this meeting, in which the cause will be voted on, in addition to the two Blast from the Bolivarian nation.
11:02There are also Ignatius Chokrala Maloylan, an Armenian from Lebanon, Peter Turrod from Papua New Guinea, Vicenza Maria Poloni from Italy, as well as Maria Troncati, and also Pier Giorgio Ferasat and Bartolo Longo, also from Italy.
11:20The canonizations are expected to take place in mid-October.
