00:00A California senator states he was forced to the ground and handcuffed for trying to ask a question
00:04during a live press conference. Now lawmakers are calling for Homeland Security Secretary
00:09Kristi Noem to resign. According to recent reports, California Senator Alex Padilla was
00:15forcibly removed and handcuffed during a DHS press conference in Los Angeles after attempting to
00:21question Secretary Kristi Noem about immigration policy. A video shared by Fox News Bill Mulligan
00:27shows a senator being pushed out of the room while stating, I am Senator Alex Padilla. I have
00:33questions for the secretary. In a second angle, the event shared by the Associated Press shows Padilla
00:38on the floor being handcuffed by FBI officers. Senator Padilla spoke with MSNBC after the incident
00:45and stated he was already inside the building awaiting a scheduled briefing when he learned
00:50of Secretary Noem's press conference a few doors down the hall. The senator stated he and colleagues
00:55have been looking for answers for weeks around the quote, increasingly extreme immigration
01:00enforcement actions. Padilla continued and shared his intentions in visiting the press conference was
01:06to learn new information from the secretary, reminding everyone he was there peacefully. But Noem has given
01:12a different version of events. Secretary Noem, who spoke with Fox News after the event, stated she was
01:19conducting a press conference to update everyone on the enforcement actions in LA and bringing peace to the
01:24community when, quote, a man burst into the room, started lunging towards the podium, interrupting me
01:31and elevating his voice. Noem continued to state the man never identified himself and was removed from the
01:36room, but as soon as he identified himself, appropriate actions were taken. Secretary Noem also stated she and
01:43Senator Padilla spoke after the press conference, during which she explained her perspective. Noem added that
01:49if Padilla had requested a meeting in advance, she would have, quote, loved to have talked and had a
01:53conversation with him. But some critics and lawmakers aren't buying her story and are calling for Noem to
01:59resign. Report State Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is one of those lawmakers who joined calls for
02:06Kristi Noem to resign, stating, it's time for Republican senators to speak up and support an independent
02:12investigation into what happened to Senator Padilla and it's time for Kristi Noem to resign. And while some
02:19critics online echoed the sentiment, others feel the Homeland Security Secretary was just doing her job.
02:25One ex-user wrote, he didn't say he was a senator until the Secret Service detail had already stopped him
02:30and were pushing him back. While another added, anyone can yell out, I'm a senator, he aggressively
02:36approached a cabinet member, he got what he deserved. But what's your take? Share your thoughts below and
