An international legal battle is unfolding between French President Emmanuel Macron, his wife Brigitte, and American right-wing commentator Candace Owens. The Macrons have filed a 219-page defamation lawsuit in Delaware, accusing Owens of spreading a “relentless and unjustified smear campaign." The lawsuit claims Owens falsely alleged that Brigitte allegedly was born a man, assumed another person’s identity, and is related to her husband.
The suit also accuses Owens of promoting “outlandish” conspiracy theories for profit, including claims of CIA mind control, incest, and fraud, while selling merchandise like a fake Time Magazine cover shirt, which sold out and was later restocked.
In response, Owens’ team called the lawsuit an attack on her First Amendment rights and said she had requested an interview with Brigitte before releasing the podcast. With thousands awaiting Owens' next livestream, the controversy appears far from over.
