00:00let's go to bryson at plus 750 a guy who you know drives the ball a long way but has that right to
00:05left shot shape and and the thing we've questioned all these majors is you know his iron distance
00:09control and now he just switched to these new la golf irons we talked about and had a pretty solid
00:14week at live uh you know in virginia and if he shows up where he can't control if he's hitting
00:20it straight and and the shot shape on the irons is looking good i mean do you do you like him as
00:25a guy obviously he's his two-time u.s open winner so he's he's going to be one of the favorites but
00:30you do you think he has the right profile of game the right shot shape for this place or is it again
00:35come back to just so you like bryson a lot this week a lot yeah because he drives it long and straight
00:41yeah sets up the whole game um he's he has been the best major player um i think you can argue
00:50probably the best major player of anybody in the world over the last uh six starts let's just look
00:57and see what he's done yeah he has finished in the top six five times in his last six major starts
01:03that's stupid uh not even scotty shepherd can even compare to that uh scotty shepherd he's done that
01:09three times uh he hadn't done it five uh so i think bryson is in the peak of his career right now
01:18uh the way he drives the golf ball uh the iron game uh which i'll talk about now you know the
01:25masters he was third or second to last in that iron statistic from shork's game perspective and then
01:31you go to the pga championship uh in both of these events he drove the ball fantastic like pga drove it
01:36the best of anybody in the field uh masters all the way up there was pretty solid too 100 but then at
01:42the mat just the irons right pga too he was around like of the 70 or so guys that made the cut he was
01:47like mid 40s so below average actually just just slightly gaining strokes approach um but if you
01:54think about it uh when you think about just the how they measure shot link and how they measure data
02:00when he is gaining so much off the tee with his distance he should have an advantage to gain strokes
02:08approach because of how close he is to the hole so it just shows you how really how poor he has been
02:13um with that approach game it's a it's a big big week for him as far as just his ability
02:18to play kind of more creative golf and kind of take the and if you go if you watch the youtube video
02:26which we did uh i i caught up on today between taco bell and duncan uh it was it was a nice little
02:32sandwich there uh 2.5 million views now on bryson's preview of oakmont which i thought i thought it was
02:40it was a great way to look at it i mean i guess the greens were rolling well five feet shorter than
02:44they will be the only the only thing i'll i just wanted to mention to you which is uh it was really
02:50interesting to hear him and his caddy kind of how they talk i thought that was kind of interesting
02:55the you know even just saying is this a 26 yard shot i was like who in their right mind knows how
03:01far 26 yards is there was one where it was bryson it was like a four it was it was an originally
03:07called out it was a 40 yard shot he said 40 39 yeah and then take a yard off and then the one that
03:13like blew my brain too was a putt that he had from uh like 40 feet and they're like uh yeah like this
03:20is like an 80 footer or something 65 footer it was like a 45 to 65 footer it's like what dude uh
03:25it's like they're speaking a foreign language like they talk grade they talk feet of putts
03:30he uses a clock system for you know most of his bag honestly kind of even in the longer eyes i thought
03:36it was is a 10 o'clock eight iron you know 10 38 iron with the putting i think that formula for
03:43these greens is going to be helpful yeah i don't i think these greens are really difficult to just
03:49have a general put off feel and put off for your eyes because they they most likely are going to
03:55break more than you think and i think players oftentimes when they get on really fast greens like
04:00this um they under read and you always have to play the higher and softer line and i'm i wonder
04:06if in his calculations and how he does things if that will be an advantage being a being an aim point
04:12guy is an aim point guy i i it's like a it's like a form it's well the part of it that he's taking out
04:17is the grade the grade reading right yeah that's where you're trying to read the slope um that was
04:22another interesting part of that video that that i don't know if this was just you know i don't know
04:26how much this was produced or whatever else but it was interesting that his local caddy and and his
04:31current caddy were under reading putts he was always over reading all those putts and they were
04:36under reading all those putts and again the greens were i think they were estimating between a 10 and
04:4011 that day and they're going to be rolling between a 14 to 15 this week so it's going to be a
04:44whole different type of challenge
