00:00So, hey gang, look, I'm down at the Avon Chamber of Commerce.
00:03I'm talking to my friend, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Tom Downer.
00:06We're talking about the 20th anniversary of the Hendricks County Rib Fest and Barbecue.
00:1220th anniversary.
00:14Tom, have you been President for all 20 years?
00:15All 20 years.
00:16All 20 years.
00:17It's going to be a great one, guys, this year.
00:18They've got some new stuff going on this year.
00:21You may have seen these around town.
00:22Kind of gives you a list of everything that's going on.
00:24Tom just talked about some of these.
00:26So, at 9 a.m. in the morning, we're going to start off with a 5K and a riblet run.
00:31What is a riblet run?
00:32Is that you're running to get ribs?
00:34Is that what that is?
00:35Actually, we did that one year.
00:36But, no, the 5K is obviously what it is, a 5K run.
00:40The riblet run is for our little people.
00:42Oh, little kids.
00:43Little kids.
00:43Oh, kids.
00:43So, they just got, you know, they dash for about 100 yards.
00:47Okay, cool.
00:48And back.
00:49And they get a little metal, a little something.
00:51Okay, good, good.
00:52Guys, like I said, it starts at 9 a.m.
00:54The food starts when?
00:56At 10 a.m.
00:57At 10 a.m.
00:57This is a long day.
00:58So, you can come out a couple times.
01:00You come out in the morning and get something to eat if you want to.
01:03And then when it's not too hot, you know, a lot of people, like, maybe come out at lunchtime
01:07and have lunch with your family or whatever.
01:09And then come out in the evening again and have dinner.
01:11So, you can have three meals, actually, at the Rip Fest if you really like ribs that much.
01:15But while you're out there, there's going to be a whole bunch of other cool stuff going on.
01:18Obviously, so, it says the craft fair from 10 to 8, right?
01:23Correct.
01:23It's going to be like flea market, like craft stuff, kind of thing.
01:26Craft stuff.
01:26We partnered with the Plainfield Lions Club.
01:30Okay.
01:30And it's been a fundraiser for them for the last four years.
01:32Oh, cool.
01:32So, I've got an entire building set up, a lot of vendors there, a lot of great stuff.
01:38Fantastic.
01:38It's fantastic.
01:40From 10 to 8, we've got the Business Expo.
01:43That's where we'll be.
01:44So, a lot of cool local businesses out there, guys.
01:47Great place to come out and have a conversation.
01:50If you don't want to go into somebody's business when they're, you know, running their business
01:54and feel like you're kind of bothering them while they're trying to run their business,
01:57this is a great place to come out and just talk to people.
02:00We get a lot of people that come out that don't even know we're in the area.
02:04So, come on out and see all the other vendors that are out there that you may not even know
02:08about that are into Danville, Avon, Brownburg, Plainfield, West Indianapolis area.
02:12There's going to be a whole bunch of people out there.
02:15And then from 11 to 5 is the Celebrate.
02:19What's this?
02:19I can't read this.
02:20Yeah, it's a new program we have going on this year.
02:22We've got a couple of new things really geared toward families.
02:26One is a children's entrepreneurial farmer's market.
02:29Oh, cool.
02:30So, all the kids, it's basically teaching them how to run their own business.
02:33Yeah.
02:33And so, they have to make what they sell.
02:36Really?
02:37Whether that's a bracelet trinket, whether that's a dozen cookies.
02:41Okay.
02:41All kids.
02:42That's just a kid's area.
02:43It's all kids.
02:44We're looking to have 25 to 35 vendors there with doing that.
02:50So, what we did in addition to that in the same area to really get families in there and enjoy that whole environment is we've got a touch-a-truck.
02:58You know, those tend to be, have become very popular for families to, you know, to see a bulldozer, to see a firetruck.
03:08Okay.
03:08To see, you know, all kinds of-
03:10Being heavy equipment, you don't normally get a chance to see.
03:12Yeah, and our little kids like to play at home, you know, so now we're seeing it in real life.
03:16Okay.
03:16Fantastic.
03:17So, that's up until 5 o'clock, right?
03:19You've already got a full day from the rib run at 9 all the way up to touch-a-truck at 5.
03:23Then, the fun starts, right?
03:25The music starts.
03:265.30, we got Toy Factory, and at 8 o'clock, we got Crush.
03:30What kind of music is this, Tom?
03:31Well, Crush is our headliner.
03:33It's a Bon Jovi-type style music.
03:36Toy Factory is for everyone.
03:37You'll love it.
03:38A lot of instruments being played with that group.
03:41Cool.
03:41Like I said, Crush is more of a Bon Jovi group.
03:45But yeah, it's a great time.
03:46So then, after that's Fireworks.
03:48Well, that's correct.
03:50Fireworks are at 10.
03:5110 o'clock, okay.
03:52In between that, the bands will stop about 9.45, but in between that, we have our Balloon Glow.
03:58Okay.
03:58Tell us about that.
03:59Balloon Glow is super popular.
04:01We have seven balloons out there.
04:04Three of them are shapes of different types.
04:07Like one's a big pig.
04:08Right.
04:08I.e. Ribfest.
04:09Right.
04:09Makes sense.
04:10They love it.
04:10Love it.
04:11But as it starts to get dark, they fire those up, and it glows.
04:15And I tell you, the people at the event just kind of gravitate to that.
04:18Yeah.
04:18I'll tell you what.
04:19If you want to have an Indiana sunset, right, at the Ribfest, when the sun's going down,
04:25and these things start to light up, and all this fire, and everybody's eyes.
04:29They're beautiful colors.
04:30Like you said, I think there was a piece of corn last year, maybe, or something like
04:32that, a pig.
04:33You know, unfortunately, last year, we had some weather problems, and we really didn't
04:36get a whole day.
04:38Maybe even, not even, really, a half day.
04:40Right.
04:40About 3.30.
04:41Yeah.
04:41So, come out this year, right?
04:43These guys really need support.
04:44This community needs support.
04:45The vendors that are out there, they put a lot of time and energy into making this food
04:49for you guys.
04:49And again, you can't control the weather, but if it's beautiful out there, please do come
04:53on out there and hang out with us all day long.
04:55There's going to be, there's a rib competition, right?
04:57There is.
04:58Best ribs, best sauce.
04:59Best ribs, best sauce.
05:00If I'm not mistaken, the locals, Double D BBQ has won the last two years in a row, right?
05:06Yeah.
05:06So, we need a new winner this year, guys.
05:08So, come on.
05:08We need some barbecue guys to step up because Double D's been doing it, and we need a new
05:13local favorite, if you will.
05:14Not the whole Double D's, but just, you know, a little fun competition.
05:17Right.
05:17So, Petting Zoo, if I remember last year, this year too?
05:21Petting Zoo is back again.
05:22Kids Inflatables are back again.
05:25Okay.
05:25Some different type of inflatables.
05:27Okay.
05:27You know, we always like to kind of change it up.
05:29Nice.
05:29We're super, super excited this year about Ray Skillman being our presenting sponsor.
05:35They've been fabulous partners with us, and we're looking forward to continuing that
05:40moving forward.
05:41Last question.
05:44Cashless, cash, tickets.
05:46How do folks need to think about being prepared to get there and buying drinks and buying food
05:51and that kind of thing?
05:52I appreciate you asking that because we, just like every place else, when you go to Game
05:56Bridge Fieldhouse or you go to the Colts game, you know, everybody's going to credit card
06:00only.
06:01Cashless.
06:01Yep.
06:02Cashless.
06:02We still have the ability to have people use cash and buy tickets to buy their food,
06:09but you don't have to wait in the line to get those tickets to buy food.
06:12You can actually just go up to the food vendor.
06:14Oh, okay.
06:15And pay with your card.
06:15Okay.
06:16So, no, you can buy tickets and use those, but they're not absolutely necessary.
06:20You can use a credit card if you go.
06:21If you want, if you have cash, you probably need to buy tickets.
06:23You do have to buy tickets.
06:23Because the vendors don't pay cash.
06:25Correct.
06:25Very good.
06:26If you're going to buy something directly, credit card's okay, but buy some tickets ahead
06:29of time, and that way you know that no matter where you're going buying drinks or food,
06:33then you can still get the product, right?
06:35You bet.
06:35You bet.
06:36Guys, again, I think this is a fantastic community event.
06:41We've been there for multiple years.
06:43We absolutely love being around there.
06:45June 28th, 10 to 10, Hendricks County 4-H Fairground.
06:4920th anniversary.
06:51I can't say that enough.
06:53And anything else you want to add?
06:55You bet.
06:55Appreciate that.
06:56Yep.
06:56Parking is $10 for the entire carload, whether you have two people in it or whether you
07:02have eight people in it.
07:04Parking is $10.
07:05We can take cash credit there as well.
07:08We do have some micro brewers there this year.
07:11Brewer Brothers here locally on the west side is going to be there, along with Micecraft.
07:18Everybody's heard of Micecraft.
07:19They're going to be there.
07:19We're going to have a little wine bar there as well.
07:23And then we've got our friends at Humanity Health CBD there.
07:25We'll be there as well.
07:26So, again, guys, can't say it enough.
07:28Please come out.
07:29Support the community.
07:30These guys put a lot of work into this event.
07:33It's a fun event.
07:35Who knows what the weather's going to be like?
07:37It doesn't matter.
07:37Put a rain cone on if it's raining.
07:39Put on your shorts if it's sunny.
07:40Come on out and support these guys.
07:41All right?
07:42Tommy, thank you much, brother.
07:43I'll see you June 28th.
07:44You bet.
07:44Peace.
