00:00On the occasion of its 123rd anniversary, the Bureau of Customs received praise and

00:06plaudits from its guest of honor who hailed and congratulated the hardworking men and

00:10women of the agency for earning the public's trust and confidence through hard work, honest

00:16and sincere service.

00:18Our Christian Bascones has more details on what used to be government's poster office

00:23for cronyism, corruption and incompetence.

00:29President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the celebration of Bureau of Customs' 123rd anniversary where

00:34he congratulates all the customs employees who have been recognized for their leadership

00:39and support to the BOC and the objectives of the administration.

00:42He emphasized the importance of achieving public's confidence and trust through lending

00:47service with full honesty and sincerity.

00:50I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the recipients of the leadership award

00:55who have been recognized for their extraordinary work in support of the BOC's and this administration's

01:02objectives.

01:03We hope that you will continue to excel as leaders, for you will be the pioneers who

01:08will usher the Bureau into a new era of efficiency and integrity.

01:14This is important because when the public has confidence in the BOC, there is more compliance

01:20with tax regulations and therefore better utilization of taxpayers' money.

01:25And this is the kind of leadership that Filipino citizens require and it is what they deserve.

01:31The President reminded all the employees and officials of customs to always consider first

01:36public's interest and welfare.

01:38To all the officials, inspectors and BOC officials, always prioritize the welfare of the people.

01:46You have fulfilled your duties with integrity and have compassion for your fellow Filipinos.

01:54The whole country is watching, so we will continue to strive to pave the way to a new

02:04Philippines.

02:05Meanwhile, the Bureau of Customs presented their accomplishments for the entire year

02:09of 2024 with the leadership of Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, BOC's collection performance

02:16for 2024 marched higher than in 2023.

02:20During the year 2023, the revenue collection of BOC reached 890 billion pesos, while last

02:27year's preliminary revenue collection, which they got 4.6% growth and collected as much

02:32as 931 billion pesos.

02:34They also got a record high for anti-smuggling operations in the history of Bureau of Customs,

02:40where they confiscated 85 billion worth of smuggling goods with a total of 2,116 seizure

02:46operations.

02:47Mr. President, your clear and expressed directives to curb smuggling have yielded significant

02:55results towards the protection of our borders and the Filipino people.

03:02Taking it into action, we successfully conducted 2,116 seizure operations, confiscating 85

03:12billion pesos worth of smuggled goods, a record high anti-smuggling accomplishment in the

03:18history of the Bureau of Customs.
