00:00India's worst civil aviation disaster in almost three decades after an Air India-London-bound
00:06flight with over 240 people on board crashed shortly after takeoff.
00:11India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited the site in Ahmedabad where the jet crashed
00:17on Thursday, while investigators begin their investigation into what went wrong.
00:23With more on the story, we have Navadita Kumari in Ahmedabad.
00:27What is the latest on this deadly crash?
00:31Investigators are still searching for clues to the cause.
00:35Tell us more.
00:41Yeah, we are right at the site of the crash.
00:46If you see the building behind me is the building, hostel building where the plane came down burning.
00:53And we still see it's been more than 24 hours since this tragic crash.
00:59We still see smoke coming out of this building from time to time.
01:04There are a couple of people, probably people from the investigation team.
01:09They have been scouting through and scrutinizing every inch of that rooftop and probably collecting evidence.
01:19And if you, there are on my right at least four buildings, five-story building, which are of white in color.
01:27But most of them have now turned black because of the smoke that came out of the burning plane.
01:35And all those people living in these buildings had a very lucky escape yesterday.
01:41And we have been here since at least an hour.
01:44And we have been seeing hundreds of people, people from Ahmedabad traveling 15, 20 kilometers from here gathering.
01:52And they are very curious to know about this crash.
01:56They have been gathering to have a look at the debris and how this plane and the remains of the plane, which are very tiny in pieces, look like every now and then.
02:09The security forces have to ask them to leave.
02:13But they keep coming minutes after minutes in hundreds.
02:18And we know that this morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself also visited the crash site and also went to the hospital, met with the injured people, met with the lone survivor of this plane crash.
02:34So as to why this crash happened, we will only know after the investigation team have completed their investigation.
02:44And for that, we'll have to wait probably for a couple of days or maybe more.
02:49So we just are waiting for more information about the reasons behind this crash.
02:56So no concrete answer yet.
02:58But there are different theories going around about why this plane crashed.
03:02Some experts say the wing flaps played a role in causing this crash.
03:08As you said, it could be days, even months before we have a definitive answer.
03:12Any theory that is being prioritized?
03:15Some experts, aviation experts I've heard on talking on Indian television have said, looking at the last video of the plane before it went down,
03:32that probably the flaps of the plane did not work on time and pilot tried his best to put all the force and engine power to take it off.
03:44But the plane could not gain the height it needed to be airborne and take off.
03:51And that's why it came down.
03:54This is one of the theories others are also talking about, probably because of the heat.
04:00And maybe there was a fuel clogging in the engine.
04:04Or some are also talking about a bird hit, which is a high probability in Ahmedabad and has risen in the last few years.
04:14But to have a concrete answer, we'll definitely have to wait for now.
