ACT Chief Minister Andrew announces funding for Tuggeranong | ACT budget 2025-26

00:00It's wonderful to be here at Arendale with Caitlin Tuff and Dave Smith, both
00:06representing this area in the Territory Parliament and in the Federal
00:10Parliament, to announce a package of budget measures that really go to local
00:18issues in Tuggeranong that have been raised by both in their considerable
00:24engagement with this electorate over the last 12 months. What you'll see in the
00:31budget package is consistent with both the plan we took to the October 2024
00:38election that outlined a range of local priorities for Tuggeranong, as well as
00:45some really important partnerships between the ACT and Federal Labor
00:51governments to deliver bigger transport infrastructure projects jointly and that
00:58is a really important part of both the Federal and Territory Governments ability
01:03to deliver projects in the ACT is a close working relationship and the capacity to
01:09jointly fund projects means things happen quicker than they would otherwise and so
01:15this package includes around 15 million dollars of initiatives specific to
01:21Tuggeranong suburbs including shopping centre upgrades here at Arendale but also
01:26five million dollars towards footpath renewal which is an important local
01:31government responsibility that we take seriously together with improvements to the
01:36Tuggeranong Escape Park to a range of playgrounds across Tuggeranong, lighting and
01:42safety upgrades in areas that people have specifically requested as well as a range
01:48of bigger projects that support better transport access to and from the Tuggeranong Valley and
01:56Monero Highway and Aqua Driver, two good examples there of projects underway jointly funded between the ACT and Federal Government
