00:00Triumph are aiming for middleweight sports touring supremacy with the launch of their new sub Dash Pound 11, 0-0-0 Tiger Sport 800.
00:10Set to hit showrooms in March 2025, this new model plugs the gap left by the Tiger 850 Sport,
00:18filling the gap between the hugely popular Tiger Sport 660 and the Tiger 900 range.
00:24The Tiger Sport 800 promises to combine the best of both worlds, delivering more power and torque than the outgoing 850,
00:33with near-identical power output to the old Tiger 1050 Sport, which was discontinued in 2021.
00:41At the core of the new 800 is a 120-degree, 798 cubic centimeters, triple-cylinder engine,
00:48pumping out a very healthy 113 brake horsepower and 62LB, FT of torque.
00:57Triumph's focus here isn't just on headline numbers, though it's all about real-world performance,
01:03with 90% of the triple's peak torque available throughout the mid-range.
01:07These numbers put it directly in the firing line of Yamaha's popular Tracer 9 range and BMW's F900XR,
01:15which both share similar outputs.
01:19Interestingly, Triumph say the new power plant shares some limited hardware with their 765 cubic centimeters motor,
01:27including the same 78 millimeters bore.
01:30That said, with a longer 55.7 millimeter stroke and various other differences,
01:36the 800 triple is far from simply being a bored-out street triple engine.
01:41Related, Triumph Street Triple 765 RS Review
01:46Despite the extra muscle, Triumph have managed to shoehorn the 800 triple into the same tried and tested chassis
01:54as the Tiger Sport 660, with overall engine dimensions being almost the same.
02:00This means the familiar 835 millimeter seat height and the nimble, easy-to-manage nature of the smaller machine
02:08have been retained, keeping the 800 accessible for a wide range of riders.
02:13Whilst the frame and swingarm are shared, the new Tiger rides on more premium suspension.
02:19The Showa setup provides 150 millimeters of travel front and rear,
02:25with fully adjustable 41 millimeters upside-down forks and a Showa monoshock at the rear.
02:31Complete with rebound damping adjustment and a remote hydraulic preload adjuster
02:37to easily accommodate a pillion or luggage.
02:41Braking is handled by radial-mounted four-piston front calipers gripping 310 millimeters twin discs,
02:48complemented by a single-piston rear caliper with a 255 millimeters disc.
02:54All this keeps the Tiger's 214 kilograms weight in check.
02:58Triumph are pitching the Tiger Sport 800 as a dedicated road-focused sports tour,
03:05designed for long days in the saddle for both rider and pillion.
03:09There's no off-road pretensions here like with the Tiger 900 and 1200,
03:14and the 800 runs on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Road 5 tires.
03:20Comfort is front and center with upright, spacious ergos and a large windscreen
03:25that can be adjusted single-handedly on the fly and standard-fit air deflectors to shield you from the elements.
03:32Thanks to acclaimed fuel economy figure just north of 60 miles per gallon,
03:37the Tiger's 18.6-liter tank should squeeze just shy of 250 miles if you run it completely dry.
03:45For riders wanting more, there are over 40 accessories to choose from,
03:50including an Akropovic slip-on exhaust, heated grips, and a full luggage system
03:55with panniers that connect seamlessly with integrated mounting hardware,
04:00and a top box big enough to swallow two full-face helmets.
04:04Thanks to a 6-axis IMU, inertial measurement unit,
04:09the 800 comes with cornering-optimized ABS and traction control.
04:14There are also three riding modes to toggle between, namely road, rain, and sport,
04:20which are equipped to dull or advanced throttle response
04:23and electronic intervention relative to conditions.
04:26Cruise control and a bi-directional quickshifter come as standard,
04:30and the TFT dash includes phone pairing via the MyTriumph connectivity system,
04:35enabling turn-by-turn navigation, phone calls, and music control via Bluetooth.
04:40All that comes with an asking price of Β£10,995,
04:46with customers able to choose from four colors, including sapphire black,
04:51or for an additional cost, graphite, cosmic yellow, and caspian blue.
