An Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after takeoff on Thursday (June 12), claiming the lives of 241 people on board, the airline has confirmed.

00:25The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which departed from the city of Ahmedabad in western India,
00:32plowed into a residential area, crashing into a hospital complex and a medical student
00:37hostel.
00:39At least five medical students were killed, according to an official from the Medical Association.
00:44Indian Home Minister, Amit Shah, confirmed that he met the sole survivor at the hospital.
00:49A doctor there identified him as Vishwashkumar Ramesh.
00:53Another medic said that Ramesh described how the aircraft began to descend shortly after
00:58takeoff, then suddenly split in two, throwing him out just before a loud explosion.
01:03A viral video appeared to show a bloodied Ramesh walking away from the crash site, with bystanders
01:10rushing behind him.
01:11Ramesh, who still had his boarding pass with him at the hospital, told a local newspaper
01:16that he saw bodies and wreckage scattered across the crash site.
01:21He had been visiting family in India and was returning to the UK along with his brother,
