Elders Bairnsdale livestock manager Morgan Davies said it was a "really strong result".

00:00Very, very positive result, 2,350 odd cattle yarded, mixed quality yarding, but there's a
00:05lot of killed black steers and blitz steer wieners that sold to us certainly at Deera
00:10Tramp across all the sale that was Deera. Who was buying today? Yeah, look, JBS, local
00:17restockers, a couple of other feedlot operators, so yeah, every one that usually represents
00:23Bensdale plus a couple extras was here today. So price-wise, how would you price the market today?
00:29Oh, look, I suppose a fortnight ago or three weeks ago when we had our last sale, you could
00:33buy steers under $4. Today it was very, very hard to do that. A lot of black steers make
00:37it 4.30, 4.40, 4.50, and that didn't matter what weight the steers were. They all made,
00:43you know, up to 4.50 really and 4.70 in some circumstances, so it looked very strong. The
00:49heifers, again, were pretty similar, really. They were, you know, not many heifers under
00:53$4. They kicked around that for the Benarind heifers, and then they got cheaper as the quality
00:57sort of dwindled off, and certainly wasn't playing a quality cattle yarder today.
