A man has been arrested over a fatal shooting earlier this week in Wagga Wagga in the New South Wales Riverina. Emergency crews were called to a home in Ashmont on Monday where a 37-year-old man had been shot he was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

00:00New South Wales Police have arrested a man after the fatal shooting death of a
00:06Wagga Wagga man on Monday morning. Just before 3 a.m. on Monday June 9,
00:11emergency services were called to Connaughton Avenue Ashmont following
00:15reports a man had been shot during an altercation. Officers attached to Riverina
00:19Police District and New South Wales Ambulance Paramedics attended and
00:22located the injured 37 year old man, however he died at the scene. A crime
00:27scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers and
00:30detectives commenced an investigation under strike force Cervantes with
00:34assistance from State Crime Command's Homicide Squad. Following extensive
00:38inquiries officers arrested a 35 year old man at a home on Lady Lock Crescent in
00:43Narrandera just after 9.30 a.m. today. During a search warrant at the home police
00:49located and seized several clothing items for forensic examination. The man has
00:54been charged with murder and specialist aggravated break and enter. The man was
00:58taken to Wagga Wagga police station where inquiries continue.
