03:19After racing 13,000 kilometers, just over 1,000 remain.
03:25The distance that stands between the teams and a prize of 20,000 pounds.
03:32The finish line, Kaniyakamari, sits at the southernmost hip of India, where tourists flock for the sunrise,
03:42and the 41-meter Tirovaluva statue stands guard, a profound symbol of Tamil culture and philosophy.
03:51To get there, they must traverse the southern states, where life by the sea has shaped its traditions, from spicy fish curries to water-bound rituals.
04:04The most obvious route to Kaniyakamari is down the coast.
04:10Following along the coast may be the most direct route, but competition for tickets is fierce.
04:18And whilst travelling inland is a greater distance, heading via southern India's major cities offers regular services and well-connected highways.
04:32I think if we left Pangea and went inland, it does look a little more complicated.
04:37I think we'd have to overcome a mountainous area, and it just seems to look a lot longer on the map.
04:43Whereas I think if we stick coastal route, shorter mileage, surely the distance is shorter that way.
