00:00We headed up to the Kempton Blytheswood Square Hotel and Spa to try their brand new afternoon
00:04tea concept. The hotel recently unveiled the new menu, designed to coincide with the coming of the
00:10summer season, reimagining the classic tradition with a botanical twist. It was inspired by the
00:16Blytheswood Garden surrounding the landmark property, with items in the afternoon tea
00:20experience crafted in celebration of the nature. Set within the hotel's celebrated restaurant
00:26Eisc, it is a bright and spacious location to relax and comfortably enjoy the afternoon
00:32tea. It is very unhurried with everything moving in its own time. To begin, you and your guest
00:38or guests are asked to select either a fragrant fruit tea or a classic. All hot drinks are
00:44complimentary in the experience. Then you are brought a serving of strawberries garnished
00:49with basil, an unexpectedly delightful combination. The three-tier platter is then served. The
00:56bottom layer including a selection of classic sandwiches, chicken pesto, cucumber, as well
01:01as salmon and capers, a nod to the restaurant's seafood roots. The middle layer includes a plain
01:08scone and a fruit scone, with a generous serving of clotted cream and jam. And then the sweet
01:14section on top includes a delicious assortment of cakes, including a delicate chocolate plant
01:19pot and olive and honey cake, garnished with edible flowers. Each element in the afternoon tea has
01:27been crafted to be homage to the garden's floral charm. It's all very flavourful but also light
01:32and fragrant. It's perfect for summer.
