00:00Hi everyone and welcome to the Senate Democrats Ask Me Anything. You're going to get four hours
00:06of Democratic senators. We're trying to get just about every senator to participate and you can
00:11ask them anything. And we are here to show what's going on with this horrible bill. Trump calls it
00:19a big beautiful bill. Let me tell you, it is ugly. And the closer you get, the uglier it looks.
00:26It is so nasty. It is so cruel. It is so mean. It's the largest cut in health care that we have
00:33ever seen. It cuts Medicaid back dramatically. It cuts ACA back dramatically. It cuts, it makes
00:40private insurance such that even if you don't have Medicaid or Medicare or ACA, your rates are
00:47going to go way up. It's going to cause so many hospitals to lay off hundreds of thousands of
00:53people, hardworking people who need the jobs. If you're in a rural area, the likelihood is
00:58your hospital will shut down. Now Donald Trump is being just a fucking liar about this. He says
01:07it won't cut anyone's benefits. That's a lie. He said it won't close any hospitals. He said that's a
01:13lie. He said that it's just going after fraud and abuse. Bull. Ask somebody who is losing their
01:21health care why they're part of fraud and abuse. Ask the senior citizen who can't pay for their
01:27prescription drugs why that's part of fraud and abuse on their part. It isn't. And he is so full
01:33of it on fraud and abuse and going after fraud and abuse that they just pardoned a big nursing home
01:38operator who had years sentenced in jail because he ripped off his workers. That's fraud and abuse,
01:46Mr. President. That's who you should go after. Not pardoning the guy and going after working
01:51people. And it's not just bad on health care, as bad as that is. And by the way, we just learned
01:56it's also going to make Medicare, senior citizens on Medicare, it's going to make that more expensive
02:02and more difficult as well. So wherever you look at health care, it is slashing. People will have less
02:07health care. And that's dramatic. Another thing it does. Most Americans, 80% believe we should feed
02:14hungry children and other people, senior citizens who need food help. Veterans who've just come back
02:21and need food help. This cuts more money out of food is helping feed hungry people. It's called
02:27SNAP the program than any bill ever has. How the hell do you take food out of a kid's mouth? And finally,
02:35one of the other things it does. We've had great, we've transformed America so that we're moving to
02:40clean energy, to wind and solar. The bill eliminates all that because the fossil fuel industry has the
02:47Republican senators and Donald Trump in their vice grip. And they eliminate, here we say we need a lot
02:54more energy because of all the AI and everything else. And yet they're cutting off the cheapest, cleanest
02:59form of energy we got, which is solar. All because the fossil fuel industry knows that clean energy is the
03:06future and they want to kill it. So this is one big, ugly bill. And you know why they're doing it?
03:11It makes it even uglier. Tax breaks for billionaires. These, they're few, this little small group,
03:19these billionaire buddies of Donald Trump. They want to pay less taxes. Imagine taking food out of
03:26babies and children's needs. A children who, a child who's hungry can't learn. Cutting health care
03:33for veterans, for senior citizens, for little people. It's just terrible, terrible, terrible
03:39for the tax breaks. So the, what we call this bill, it's a betrayal. Everything Donald Trump
03:45said in the campaign, he's betraying the working families of America just to help the billionaires.
03:50So my first question is from Susan Lambert's audience, a creator based here in DC. Hi,
04:05Suzanne. Thanks for sending in the question. The question is this, am I voting for the big,
04:10ugly bill? NFW, as they say in Brooklyn, no fucking way. I am not voting for this bill. I wouldn't,
04:15it's the, one of the worst bills I have ever seen. And what are Democrats doing to stop this bill?
04:21We are doing, we are pulling out all the stops. We are using every tool in the toolbox to try and
04:26stop this bill. We are obviously telling our Republican colleagues how bad it is, but that's
04:32not going to do it. Here's what's going to do it. Abe Lincoln, he said, public sentiment is everything.
04:37So we are all over the place in Republican states, in Republican districts, letting the public
04:43know how bad this is. Of the six congressional, of the seven Republican congressional districts in my
04:49state, where Republicans are in charge, I've been in all six talking about how bad the Medicaid cuts
04:55are, talking about how their hospitals will close, talking about how the average citizen is going to
05:03pay $500 to $1,000 more on their energy bill, on their heating bills, because of what Trump has done.
05:12We had a great rally on Thursday about what they're doing on clean energy. And the labor union guys
05:18all showed up, carpenters and laborers and pipe fitters and everybody else, because this bill is
05:25going to throw them out of work. We estimate that millions of people are going to lose their jobs.
05:31And we're letting people know, you work in a hospital, you might lose your job. You work for a new clean
05:37energy company, you might lose your job. And we're letting people know how bad this is for them.
05:42You're not going to get the kind of food help that you need to feed kids. And that's going to hurt our
05:47farmers. I see Senator Klobuchar walked in. She's one of our experts on farmers coming from what she
05:53calls Minnesota. And so we're fighting every step of the way. We're letting the public know, the public,
06:00the calls are pouring in. And we'd say to you, our audience, call your senators, call your congressmen,
06:06tell them how ugly this bill is. Tell them how mean this bill is. Tell him we do not want to see the
06:13Republicans and Trump betray America for just to help a few billionaires. We can stop this bill.
06:20And if you live in a state with just Democratic senators, I'll bet you got friends, relatives,
06:25you know, who are business associates who are in other states, Republican states, make sure they
06:31call, make sure they write, make sure they pick it, make sure they protest. Public sentiment is
06:37everything. The public, the more they learn about this bill, the more they hate it. Let them know,
06:42let them let their senators know, let's beat this monstrosity. Up next is Senator Klobuchar,
06:49who is appropriately dressed in green. I said she'd talk about farmers.
