00:41Donald Trump's travel ban on 12 countries went into effect on Monday.
00:47The United States president banned travel to the U.S. by citizens of 12 countries and restricted access for those from seven others.
00:55He had announced the ban last week, citing security concerns.
01:00The ban comes as part of Trump's escalating crackdown on immigration that has often pushed the limits of executive power and clashed with federal judges trying to restrain him.
01:11Groups that provide aid and resettlement help to refugees denounced the ban.
01:17They say the policy is not about national security, but instead sows division.
01:22In his first term in 2017, Trump had similarly issued an executive order banning travel to the U.S. by citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries.
01:35Israeli forces stopped a Gaza-bound aid ship early Monday, briefly detaining the passengers, including Greta Thunberg and other activists.
01:50The interception of the Madeline ship came as it entered Palestinian territory, where a long-standing blockade has been tightened by Israel during the war with Hamas.
02:00The Israeli Foreign Ministry in social media post gave updates on the situation, saying the passengers of the ship, which it described as a selfie yacht of celebrities, were safe and unharmed.
02:12The Foreign Ministry said the activists were being taken to Israel and expected to then return to their home countries.
02:20Organized by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Voyage had set out to protest Israel's ongoing military campaign in the Gaza Strip, currently one of the world's deadliest wars.
02:32Thunberg, a climate campaigner, was among the 12 activists aboard the Madeline, which set sail from Sicily a week ago.
02:39After a two-and-a-half-month total blockade aimed at pressuring Hamas, Israel started allowing some basic aid into Gaza last month,
02:48but humanitarian workers have warned of famine, unless the blockade is lifted.
02:56French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday slammed the withdrawal of climate funding by the US, saying it was time to reach an agreement for the entire planet.
03:06Macron said this as a welcome to delegates, including heads of states and environmental advocates to the French southern city of Nice, host to this week's United Nations Pushing Conference.
03:17He urged nations to turn decades of promises into real protection for the sea and commit to a moratorium on deep sea exploitation.
03:48More than 50 world leaders are attending the third United Nations Oceans Conference this week to confront growing threats to the ocean and the needs to transform pledges into protection.
03:59The UN describes the threats facing the world's oceans as a global emergency.
04:04Italians called to the polls until 3 p.m. Monday to vote on five repeal referendums covering controversial issues such as citizenship and the labour market.
04:22Called for by the opposition, they propose reducing the period after which one can apply for Italian citizenship from ten to five years
04:30and amending recent reforms on layoffs and employee protections.
04:38At least 50% plus one of eligible voters must vote for the election to be valid.
04:45Final turnout will be announced when the polls close.
04:51The majority of parties oppose the referendums, with some government officials urging citizens not to go to the polls.
04:59Analysts say the vote is a test for Giorgio Meloni's executive.
05:10Russia's defence ministry says that its forces have reached the western edge of the Donetsk region
05:15and that troops were, quote, developing an offensive in neighbouring Nipropachovsk.
05:20This would be the first time Russian troops have pushed into the central Ukrainian region in the more than three-year war.
05:31Kiev has denied Moscow's advances, which would mark a significant setback for Ukraine's already stretched forces.
05:38Kiev talks between the two sides remain stalled and Russian troops have made incremental gains elsewhere.
05:47Putin's forces also appeared to be within a few kilometres of the city of Sumy,
05:52three years after Ukraine forced them out of the northern region.
05:57Yesterday, one person was killed and another seriously wounded in Russian aerial strikes on the eastern Ukrainian Kharkiv region.
06:10Spain's opposition party held another protest this weekend against the government of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez,
06:16following the discovery of possible corruption cases and an amnesty deal with Catalan separatist parties.
06:24Under the slogan, Mafia or Democracy, the demonstration was attended by around 50,000 people, according to the government.
06:33The People's Party, or PP, say they were double that amount.
06:36The party's leader, Alberto Núñez Feijó, said that Spain needs, quote, a revolution.
06:45The demonstration was called after the leakage of audio messages from a former member of the governing socialist party
06:59in which favourable deals could have been offered to businessmen in exchange for compromised police information.
07:10President Trump is deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles, escalating a stand-off with California's state government.
07:18The move follows clashes on Saturday between protesters and federal immigration agents in the city of Paramount.
07:23Agents in riot gear used tear gas while some demonstrators threw rocks after a week of immigration sweeps that saw over 100 arrests.
07:34California Governor Gavin Newsom accused the federal government of deliberately creating chaos to escalate the situation.
07:42On Saturday, President Trump posted that if local leaders fail to control rioters and looters, the federal government will.
07:49Defense Secretary Pete Hexet also threatened to mobilize active-duty Marines.
07:56But Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass insisted state and local authorities had control and the Guard was not needed.
08:03The unrest also saw the arrest on Friday of union leader David Huerta drawing condemnation from senior Democrats.
08:10The Trump administration's threats come as the Los Angeles Police Department says protests across the city are now proceeding peacefully.
08:20Colombian senator and potential presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay was shot and critically wounded at a campaign rally in Bogota on Saturday.
08:31Hospital officials confirmed that the 39-year-old was in critical condition and undergoing emergency surgery.
08:39His wife said he is fighting for his life.
08:41A 15-year-old boy was arrested at the scene with a firearm in connection with the attack which wounded two others.
08:47Colombia's President Gustavo Petro condemned the shooting, cancelled the trip to France and promised a full investigation.
08:53U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the attack and attempted assassination while leaders in Chile and Ecuador also condemned the violence.
09:02Colombia will hold a presidential election in May 2026 marking the end of Petro's term.
09:08Turbay is a conservative politician who comes from a prominent political and public family.
09:11His maternal grandfather was president of Colombia from 1978 to 1982 and his journalist mother was killed in 1991 during a particularly violent period in Colombia's history.

10:08dan no doubt was a fashion icon and i think people connected with her because they could
10:25see her journey as well because she she wasn't into fashion in the beginning as as people know
10:30she was nursery school teacher and when she came to us she didn't really have any interest in fashion
10:37then she she met our clothes and everything changed so i think people resonate with that
10:42they could see through the years her style was changing as she evolved and developed her own style
10:58because she liked it so much she was really one of the first royals that we ever knew that was
11:03repeating outfits she would wear it again and again and she would match it with shoes and
