The Health Ministry hopes to implement the diagnosis-related group (DRG) payment model by the end of the year, says Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. 00:32We move, making small wins and building up the momentum.

00:39Beginning with this base MHIT product that I mentioned earlier.

00:44This will be a key driver for a value-based health care.

00:50DRGs incentivize efficiencies.

00:53That's what value-based health care would be, among others, driven by.

00:58And we expect that this will drive innovations to be more efficient and cost-effective.

01:04We expect this will drive innovation, particularly in ambulatory and day-care surgery kind of setting,

01:12and to expand the use of health technologies, which demonstrate strong cost-effectiveness,

01:19improving and improving health outcomes while reducing total cost.

01:25Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance, this thing called gear-up initiatives,

01:33particularly the health cluster, championed by EPF,

01:38will drive further investment into the health sector,

01:43particularly in the whole spectrum of health care providers,

01:46which is not limited to large, multi-specialty tertiary hospital.

01:55It is so very important to get that, the clarity on that.

01:59These initiatives will be coordinated by a joint ministerial committee,

02:04which will be announced shortly.

02:05We are now thoroughly intensively working, work in progress.

02:09And I believe many in this room are very well aware of the upcoming initiatives.

02:16I think you have also been communicated on this to be part and parcel of this strategic partner

02:21to have these initiatives driven.

02:26What about DRG, what's the timeline for that?

02:30Because IHH recently announced that it has been delayed,

02:32and I think Dr. Kuljit mentioned in the speech that you need EMR, more data and all that.

02:38So EMR, is that the timeline?

02:39Well, DRG, we hope by the end of 2025, before the end of 2025, we'll get to roll out.

02:56Groupers yang group-group, they're called diagnosis-related groups.

02:59They're groupers yang mudah, we can start off with the simple one,

03:02and then we develop the momentum and go for the more complex one.

03:05So we have the experience, and I think with the people, we'll get to the APHM,

03:27and MOF, and from other people.

03:31So I think before the end of the year, they don't say bila,

03:34but before the end of the year, I'm sure we'll get to the end of the year.

03:37Bermula dahulu, and then we build the momentum.
