00:00How exciting is it to be here tonight, your first Tony nomination?
00:04No, I know. I was so surprised. I mean, I had not anticipated a Tony nomination, so for me, I'm just over the moon.
00:14Talk to me about Tony nomination morning. Where were you? Who was the first person you told?
00:19Marie called me. I was washing my hair, and I guess she had called me earlier.
00:24It was not in my consciousness at all that I would be nominated.
00:32And she said, do you have a Tony nomination?
00:35And I was just stunned and beyond excited.
00:41And after I hung up the phone, I thought, I'm going to tell somebody.
00:46And I thought, you can't just call somebody and say, I've got a Tony nomination.
00:50Yes, you can.
00:50Well, no, I thought of one person, but my mom would have so loved that moment, this moment.
00:58And I would have brought her, and she was in my corner for my whole life.
01:03And of all the people I know, she would have been happiest.
01:06So I have to carry her with me, and I am.
01:08And I love that. And what would you say is the most special part,
01:12and also maybe some of the most challenging parts of live theater?
01:15Of live theater? Well, the whole setup is a challenge.
01:20You've got to bring what you've consumed, the whole play.
01:27For us, it was a two-character play, nonstop talking,
01:32and you want to give it to the people who bought the tickets to come and see it.
01:36You want to give it to the very best of your ability with all of it.
01:41And we were lucky. Jen Silverman wrote the place, a wonderful writer,
01:46and gave us scenes of substance to do.
01:53And I wouldn't have this nomination if Jen Silverman hadn't written every word.
01:59Well, I know that there's so many, a lot of people have been calling this
02:03such a thrilling season for Broadway.
02:06What is one show outside of your own that you have really enjoyed watching?
02:10Oh, my God. It's a great time.
02:11I would say every show on Broadway, don't miss O'Mary.
02:17Good night and good luck.
02:19Well, now I guess people can see it streaming on Netflix.
02:21Don't miss that.
02:22But every show has something of, I think it's maybe Broadway's best season in years.
02:28Don't you think?
02:29It's been incredible.
02:30The one show I haven't seen is Jonathan Goff playing Bobby Darin.
02:34That's on my next week list.
02:37So, yeah.
02:38So many...
