Introduction to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final prophet in Islam, believed by Muslims to be the last messenger sent by God (Allah) to guide humanity. He was born in the city of Mecca in present-day Saudi Arabia around the year 570 CE, into the respected Quraysh tribe. Orphaned at a young age, he was raised by his grandfather and later his uncle.
Known for his honesty and integrity, he was given the title "Al-Amin" (the trustworthy) by the people of Mecca. At the age of 40, he received his first revelation from Allah through the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) while meditating in the cave of Hira. These revelations continued for 23 years and are compiled in the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) preached the message of monotheism, social justice, and moral conduct. He faced severe opposition in Mecca but later migrated to Medina, an event known as the Hijrah, marking the beginning of the Islamic calendar. In Medina, he established a growing Muslim community and laid the foundations of an Islamic state.
He passed away in 632 CE at the age of 63 in Medina, where he is buried. Muslims around the world regard him as the best example of human conduct and follow his teachings, known as the Sunnah.
