00:00Well, first of all, Republicans are having to clean up the enormous messes left behind by President Biden.
00:08The open border, that's what's happening in California there, and of course the massive deficit spending, which sparked 40-year high inflation.
00:15It's not easy. It's easy to be a Democrat, just spend money, mortgage our kids' future, promise people, never deliver on the promises, never get held accountable by the media.
00:23So it's easy to be a Democrat. It's pretty hard doing what we're trying to do.
00:26So I'm a big supporter of President Trump. He's doing things that no other president would do that need to be done.
00:32As far as it goes, I'm a supporter of what's in the big, beautiful bill.
00:36My problem is, because it's so hard, it's not going far enough.
00:40And if we just pass this, if it's a one and done, we will not be really addressing the major problem here in terms of massive growing deficits and debt.
00:49Yes, that's the top priority of government, is to protect Americans, to defend our border, defend our nation.
00:54So, unfortunately, the Democrats opened up the border, fled, millions of people fled in this country, some of them violent criminals, violent gang members, members of transnational criminal organizations, human drug and sex traffickers.
01:07That's what President Trump's having to deal with. That's what Democrats left for us.
01:11So, again, that takes money.
01:13And, unfortunately, they also pretty well mortgaged our children's future with massive deficits.
01:18President Biden had an average deficit of $1.9 trillion.
01:22Obama, his last term, $550 billion average deficits.
01:27Trump had to do deals. Democrats, $810 billion.
01:29Then, of course, we had the massive bipartisan spending spree in 2020.
01:33But we should have come down to a reasonable pre-pandemic level of spending and deficits.
01:38We didn't do that.
01:39The Democrats and President Biden just continued to spend.
01:43And, again, now it's completely out of control.
01:44We can't accept this as a new normal.
01:46What we are trying to do is take a look at the abuses of the system that put at risk the benefits for the people who truly deserve them.
01:54For example, there's a great article in the Wall Street Journal written by a father of a 17-year-old autistic child who's on a 10-year waiting list for home care because he's being crowded out by single, working-age, able-bodied, childless adults.
02:07That's what Obamacare did.
02:08And, by the way, that's the part of Medicaid we're trying to reform is the Obamacare portion.
02:14Now they call it Medicaid Advantage.
02:17For every dollar the state puts into a procedure for a disabled child, the federal government kicks in $1.33.
02:24For every dollar the state puts in for a single adult, childless, the federal government puts in $9.
02:38That has led to all kinds of waste and abuse.
02:40There's upcoding inside Medicare, which also is putting in threat the benefits for people that need it.
02:46So, again, there is all kinds of waste, fraud, and abuse in these programs.
02:49That's what Republicans are trying to root out.
02:51That's what President Trump is willing to do.
02:53Democrats, of course, don't care.
02:54They just don't care about spending money and mortgaging our kids' future.
02:57This is hard what we're trying to do.
03:00I think in good faith we're trying to work together, but it's very difficult.
03:04Now, I've had harsh words about the fact that we're mortgaging our kids' future,
03:09that we've incurred on average $1.9 trillion deficits,
03:13and we're going to incur another $22 trillion deficits over the next 10 years,
03:17and that's probably a rosy scenario.
03:18I've had harsh words for our current situation,
03:23and my only problem with this bill is it just doesn't go far enough to address that big mess.
03:28Well, nothing's really changed.
03:29I'll be sitting down with the White House economic team.
03:32I'm finishing up a report.
03:35I'll be issuing that next week that lays out exactly what this is,
03:39gives different growth scenarios,
03:40showing how difficult it is going to be to grow our way out of this.
03:43I'm all for economic growth.
03:45We have to address spending.
03:46We don't have a revenue problem.
03:47We have a spending problem,
03:49and this bill just doesn't go far enough to address that problem.
