00:04critically wounded at a campaign rally in Bogota on Saturday.

00:08Hospital officials confirmed that the 39-year-old was in critical condition and undergoing emergency

00:13surgery.

00:14His wife said he is fighting for his life.

00:16A 15-year-old boy was arrested at the scene with a firearm in connection with the attack,

00:21which wounded two others.

00:23Colombia's president Gustavo Petro condemned the shooting, canceled the trip to France

00:29U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the attack an attempted assassination, while

00:34leaders in Chile and Ecuador also condemned the violence.

00:37Colombia will hold a presidential election in May 2026, marking the end of Petro's term.
