00:00I mean, if you don't win, is that a bad signal as we head towards July?
00:08It is one thing I was thinking about coming to Dauphiné. Of course, the competition
00:16here is amazing. It's almost the same as Tour de France for the GC and some hard stages,
00:24time trial. But yeah, I have to remind myself that I'm coming from a big training block
00:32and that we are tapering more for Tour de France and if something goes wrong that I don't win this
00:42race, I need to let go of this pressure. Like you said, that all the pressure is on me. I have to
00:50let it go this time and try to enjoy the race, see how the legs are turning, try to be, yeah,
00:58of course, as best as possible, try to win. But yeah, a lot of times we saw that Dauphiné is not
01:09the true indicator where you will finish at Tour de France. So yeah, let's kick it off tomorrow
01:17with a good start. I hope everything goes smooth. I hope we have some great battles on the climbs and
01:24in the time trial. But yeah, we will see what we have. Not too much stress, not too much pressure.
01:32Cheers, Gregor. Ciro, do you want to come up with a question for Tadej?
01:37Yes. Ciao, Tadej. Thanks for the opportunity. Ciro from Gazzetta here. Just was wondering if,
01:45obviously I think that you find found the time a little bit to follow also the Giro. The finishing
01:52has been in a certain way surprising. I was wondering if from your point of view,
01:58there are some lessons can you take as you and as a team from the Giro for the Tour or the races
02:08will be completely different with different riders and so there is nothing to share on this side. Thanks.
02:16Oh, definitely. Definitely. I think we can take a lot of, yeah, there was a lot of things happened
02:24in Giro and you can take it all in yourself and study a little bit. It was a good opportunity to
02:35to see the race and, yeah, because in the Tour can be like similar situations at some point. And yeah,
02:44I think more everyone in cycling followed the Giro and I think everybody see other things where,
02:56what could be, what could be, what you can take from it, but definitely was, yeah, it was nice Giro and
03:04we all learned something from, from that Giro. I think each person differently, but yeah, it's always,
03:15you always learn from all the races that you watch actually. And yeah, so Giro was, it was good to watch.
03:25Thank you, Giro. Daniel Fribe.
03:30Thanks. Um, we just had Remco in a press conference talking about his numbers and suggesting they were
03:37really good. I just wondered where yours are compared to previous years and also whether you've put
03:43the emphasis on anything different in your Sierra Nevada camp compared to the same period last year.
03:51Well, last year, obviously at the Giro, but is there anything different in what you're prioritizing
03:56before the tour this year in terms of your training? Well, uh, yeah, more or less, uh, this year,
04:06uh, was similar plan to 2023, but then I broke my hand and I could not train like I wanted. So
04:14it's the first time for me that, uh, I mean, first time coming out of proper class, classic season
04:21and, uh, restarting differently training. And, uh, yeah, I was in Sierra Nevada quite early doing
04:29good, uh, good trainings, uh, really quality training. Um, for sure. I would, I would want to,
04:37to have even more time to, to, to, to do different stuff and, uh, prepare more for, uh, certain things.
04:45But, uh, so far, I think the, uh, yeah, the leading training to Dauphiné was good in Dauphiné.
04:51We get some, some speed in the legs and then, uh, we see what we can improve. Uh, if there's some
04:59room for improvement or just, uh, to relax after the Dauphiné, maybe, uh, just like maybe, uh, after
05:06the Dauphiné, maybe one day more on TT bike than plant or something, or one more day of, uh, certain
05:13intervals. But yeah, more or less, I think, uh, I'm on the right way and we will see, uh,
05:19uh, quite soon if, if the numbers and the legs are good, uh, in a few days.
05:28The moment, the numbers?
05:31Yeah, the moment, the numbers and training for me are good in December, February, April,
05:37whole year round. They are quite good. Maybe in November, they are not the best, but,
05:41but yeah, uh, I'm pretty happy with, uh, with the numbers.
05:49Cheers, Daniel. Uh, Sam from NRC, do you want to come in with a question?
05:53Yes. Thank you. Uh, uh, so I'm Sam de Vogt from Dutch newspaper NRC. Uh, my question is a bit related
06:00to the last one. Uh, I wanted to ask in your preparation for the tour, um, have you done or
06:06are you doing, uh, something different, uh, this year compared to other years to be better than ever
06:12at the start of the tour? Not only training wise, but maybe equipment wise, tactically wise,
06:17uh, other aspects. I mean, we all know that, uh, yeah, I changed the coach and trainings a little
06:25bit, uh, in, in the last two years, uh, which, uh, yeah, uh, I'm not saying, I will not say that,
06:34these kinds of trainings are better for me, but, uh, just a bit of a change after four years was nice.
06:39So that gave me a bit of, uh, room for improvement. And yeah, last year I cannot compare this year to
06:49last year because, uh, I, I was right here and the Giro more or less just, uh, yeah, um, rest and
06:58recover and then do a few sessions. But, uh, you already had the legs for the grand tour ready. And this
07:07year I'm coming from classic season. So yeah, uh, the training, um, compared to last year, it's like,
07:16I would, I would say that it falls behind a little bit for like, uh, for grand tour because you're
07:22different training, uh, differently all the spring. But, uh, yeah, we, we were in Sierra Nevada where most of the
07:32teams were there, we could do a race there. It was really hot. So good, uh, good hit adaptation and
07:40stuff like that. Just, uh, good roads to train. And yeah, but nothing, nothing crazy. I would say
07:47it's, uh, you cannot do much, uh, differently. Uh, I think. Thank you. Thanks. Um, Shane Stokes,
07:55Jonathan, do you have a question? Uh, hi, Teddy. I'm Shane from Velo. Um, yeah, I'm curious, uh,
08:03last year you obviously did the Giro, um, which brought you to the tour. This year you've just
08:07done one stage race, the UAE tour in February, and then just one day races. And I'm wondering,
08:12can you talk us through the reason for that very different approach? Um, and even when you don't
08:17do the Giro, you tended to do more stage races in the past. So I'm curious about that. And also,
08:21because you don't have the reassurance of racing recently, um, and feeling, you know, really good
08:26in a race, are you keen to try and do something good early on the Dofni for your own peace of mind?
08:33Yeah, no, like I said before, uh, I have to get rid of that mind, uh, mentality that I need to,
08:39to win this race because, uh, yeah, exactly. I didn't race a one week race, uh, since UAE tour and
08:46it's completely different races as well. So, uh, yeah, totally different approach than last year.
08:52But what's the reason behind it? Because, uh, yeah, I don't want to, um,
08:57I just want to experience new things, not to be bored and, uh, always all over doing the same
09:03thing because, yeah, probably I wouldn't last long. And that's, that's the main reason I think why
09:10change the, the program here and there. But, uh, yeah, unfortunately stuck with the tour every year.
09:16Does it take courage to do a new approach to a formula that's been working really well for you?
09:22Because you do a different approach with Giro last year?
09:24Yeah, I mean, I think, uh, changes are good. So, um, at least for me, uh, changes here and there,
09:34I think, uh, can, uh, can benefit you in, uh, in a good way. Uh, for sure in my case, uh, I gain a lot
09:42of experience, uh, to ride in the bunch or, uh, to have a different speed, uh, understand the race
09:50differently because, uh, yeah, I race, uh, all kinds of, uh, terrains and races. So it's not just, uh,
09:57one week races, uh, from going from, yeah, I don't know, from Paris to Catalonia to Basque and then
10:05Dauphiné or Swiss. It's just, uh, I think those are, those kinds of races are more or less always,
10:11uh, the same, the same outcome and, and with the classics is always a little bit more interesting
10:16in my opinion. So, yeah. Thank you. Thanks Shane. Uh, Jimmy, do you want to come up with a question?
10:25Uh, yes. Hello today. I'm Jimmy from Danish newspaper Extra Blood. Um, I think a lot of
10:34people have been looking forward to seeing you and, uh, Jonas Wengegold once again, uh, battle each
10:39other. It's been almost a year since you've done that. Um, how do you look forward to that, uh,
10:45experience and how do you see Jonas as a competitor right now? Yeah, I really looking
10:51forward. I think he's in, he looks in good shape as what I saw. So I think, um, yeah,
10:58we can expect that he will be in super good level and I'm really looking forward to see that,
11:04uh, because he had a tough, uh, tough spring. Um, and yeah, I, I think he will be super good.
11:13I'm really looking forward. Uh, I hope I will, uh, I will, uh, we can battle it out, but yeah,
11:21also I cannot, uh, forget about the others. Uh, it's not just focus on Jonas, uh, uh, but some
11:28of the other contenders. Um, but anyway, yeah, I'm really looking forward to, to race against, uh,
11:34against him and, uh, and Rimko for example, and see how it goes. It's gonna be fun to watch on the
11:43TV and, uh, I hope also fun to race if there's good likes. Cheers, Jimmy. And we'll get to the last
11:50couple of questions guys before locking off. Uh, Bram, do you want to come in with a question?
11:55Yes. Um, Bram from, uh, IDL, uh, also from the Netherlands, a little follow-up on, uh, Giro,
12:05because, um, we saw you supporting the team UIA, uh, the whole Giro d'Italia. Um, but how did you
12:11look at this, uh, yeah, amazing, uh, last weekend and also the, yeah, the amazing ride from, uh, your
12:17teammate and good friend, uh, Isak Dal Toro? Yeah. Um, I think we can all be proud, uh, how the team,
12:26managed to, to finish. He was, uh, I mean, uh, the team was, yeah, phenomenal. There were some ups and
12:34downs, uh, some sickness, some crashes and like it's part of, of the sport and, uh, Isak was a little
12:43bit of a surprise to everybody to, to be so good and, uh, almost, almost pulled it off, uh, with the,
12:50uh, with the Giro win in GC. Uh, but yeah, I, uh, I was supporting, uh, the team or every day,
12:59all day long. And, uh, yeah, it was a lot of times training long, long days and, uh, looking, uh,
13:06on the phone or listening, uh, the last, uh, the last hour of, or two hours of training,
13:14yeah, just listening the, the race. And yeah, it was, uh, fantastic to watch, uh, to watch
13:19those guys, uh, racing so well.
