00:00um well um very simply um this week is going to be everyone is obviously talking about
00:10the three-way battle you pogat char vingegaard what's your reaction to that how do you see this
00:16week in terms of how important that three-way battle is um yeah i think it's uh for all of
00:26us just a first test to see where we're at in terms of shape um condition and just uh yeah general uh
00:37general race feeling um i think it doesn't necessarily have to be like a three-way battle
00:45because for sure there will be other guys in good shape as well uh and in dauphine it's often the case
00:50that uh if i look at myself last year uh some guys are in very good shape some are a bit in
00:57growing shape still so um yeah i think it's just gonna be day by day and uh i think this week it's
01:04important i'm just gonna gonna look at myself and make sure i uh i can do some nice things myself
01:10for my own uh yeah build up towards the tour and then uh i think i just have to
01:16to to be patient and then see where i'm at at the end of the week

01:32obviously there was still a gap between you today and jonas uh looking at your uh data your sensation
01:43how big is your confidence that this year this gap will be i don't want to say completely cancelled but

02:00uh for sure the confidence is bigger now than it was two months ago
02:06of course i had a good racing um load with the the classics and romandy then i had a very good
02:16training camp now uh in sierra uh i think the point where i'm at now it was uh
02:22probably around my shape of the tour last year so uh that's that's good uh it means that i will be i
02:30will be better in the dauphiné this year than last year uh so i i really believe that i can uh i can
02:36make a big step closer towards uh tadej and jonas in terms of climbing and gc so uh yeah for me it's
02:44also um pretty exciting to be here especially with the stage of saturday i think it's going to be a very
02:49good test uh with the crowd fair madeleine the big mountain stage i think it's going to be a very
02:55good test to see where i'm at now and of course i know that there is still some uh some room for
03:02improvement uh towards the tour so uh but for the moment yeah i'm happy where i'm at now and uh i
03:08believe that i can uh i can come closer to uh to tadej and jonas yeah

03:41yes hi remco thank you uh phil uh remco uh i just wanted to ask you something uh looking
03:52further ahead to the one of the key stages of the tour de france which is the climbing time trial
03:57in week two and i was wondering do you feel that a climbing time trial is something different
04:03than a normal one and why
04:05of course it's completely different um
04:09first of all i think uh
04:12yeah it goes up
04:15it's uh it's a mountain to climb uh a real time trial is is uh is different if you see for example stage
04:23five and stage i don't know the the stage of the mountain time trial uh but of course it's something
04:29different it's it's more about the watts per kilo um and a flat time trial is more about the watts per
04:36cda uh i mean i'm not the the the guy to uh to speak about the numbers i just try to push them
04:44so uh i think it's something completely different um so yeah i i don't consider it as an extra time trial
04:53actually uh i think it should be considered as an extra mountain stage it's more it's probably a bit
05:00like uh like a final mountain that you have to go up as fast as possible but the only difference is
05:05is that you have a small warmer before and that you have more fresh legs than on after a 200k
05:10stage for example um so yeah i think um the approach for that time trial is completely different
05:17also in terms of uh um nutrition and all that stuff it's going to be a different approach than a
05:24normal time trial uh material wise as well uh so yeah it's it's it's something completely different
05:31than uh than a normal tt can you maybe elaborate a little bit on the different approach in terms of
05:38tactics equipment and nutrition uh yeah tactics of course you want i mean i think it's more or less
05:50like three and a half k flat kind of before the climb uh so yeah you don't want to arrive in full
05:56lactate on the bottom uh so you just want to use that three and a half k as a bit of a warm-up let's
06:02say and then you just go all in from the bottom to the top uh in terms of nutrition yeah you want to
06:09be uh loaded but not too much loaded because you want to be light for the for the mountain
06:15um and yeah material i think it's something we're not sure about yet uh normal bike bike change uh tt
06:26bike yes or no i think that's going to be uh again the big discussion towards that stage for uh for
06:31all of the gc guys uh so yeah i think those three points are the are uh what is going to be
06:38important to decide before all right thank you uh louis please yes english or uh dutch also possible
06:49i prefer in english at this point but oh no no good for me good for me um um a lot of at least say
06:59um you have to see the bottom to enjoy the top more um yeah you had some bad luck of course uh the last
07:06year um can you explain um mentally um how you enjoying uh yeah being fit being able to to be top
07:16again uh these days uh in comparison to maybe a year or two years ago yeah i mean uh it's actually a good
07:25question because uh i don't know why but when i was uh taking the shower after training i was actually
07:31thinking about it that that it actually feels good to finally be in good shape again uh that i just feel
07:37good in my body the weight is good the numbers are good so you're you're i mean i feel happy to be to
07:43be back on on shape you know so uh i think it's actually a very nice question because i think
07:48um it's always i mean it's always easy to say uh to come back stronger from an injury because uh
07:56i mean you never know that beforehand so uh i think from the moment that you really feel okay i'm back
08:03on my level then you kind of look back into the difficult period like it it was all worth it to keep
08:09fighting to keep uh pushing myself but of course it's uh on the moment itself when you're in that down
08:15period it's it's never nice then you have to you really have to suffer through um but yeah like i
08:20just said now uh on my altitude camp and also just on on the bike now uh how i'm feeling how i'm i'm
08:27riding also with the teammates uh the numbers in in training in testing you just feel uh feel very
08:33happy and proud again to to be on on good shape close to top shape so i think that's uh i mean that's
08:40what what we're living for uh you don't live for the crushes but you live for uh aiming for good
08:45results you you aim for victories and i think uh yeah um uh that i can enjoy riding the bike
08:51again more now than i did two or three months ago so uh i think that's a bit the the story behind

09:19the coming week the result is it important for you where you finish in the gc and uh in the dauphiné
09:25uh i think it's always important it's an important race uh it's a road to stage race
09:31um i think every every leader in the team wants to to feel where he's at at the moment towards the
09:39tour um if he's far away from uh from other competitors their shape uh if he's far away from
09:47his own best shape so i think uh for me it's going to be a very important week uh i think it's unfair
09:53to say that i that i'm here without any ambition or uh without any uh i mean i i don't have any
10:01specific ambition but i think i'm here with ambition so i i want to do good i want to be up there
10:05uh i think last year i was not in a good shape and i finished eight i think or um yeah i don't know
10:13anymore or seven so it's even uh it's i mean it's it's it's not a bad result but of course it's not the
10:20the result that i that i want to achieve this year let's say uh i think it's a different approach that
10:26i had so uh yeah i think uh i'm gonna gonna give myself to the maximum and then uh and then see where
10:34i met at the end of the week um but it would be of course very nice to uh to feel that i can be up
10:39there to battle with uh tada or jonas and jonas probably so uh i think that would be uh they would
10:46already be be some good signs for me towards the tour to be up there against uh the two uh uh yeah
10:52main competitors for uh for the tour and for dauphine
