Transcript
00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today, we're counting down our picks for the most impactful,
00:09most protected, and flat-out coolest finishers used by female WWE superstars.
00:20Number 10, Last Call, Melina Perez. There have been a lot of cool-looking finishing moves
00:27utilized in the WWE women's division over the years, but Melina's last call remains as stylish
00:33as the former Divas champion herself.
00:43The maneuver is sort of like a modified Canadian destroyer, a Sunset flip powerbomb that requires
00:49total cooperation to pull off smoothly.
00:57The last call appears superbly impactful, often causing Melina's opponent to look totally done
01:05for the night. Melina has shown the ability to hit the last call from multiple angles,
01:10which is always the sign of a great finishing move.
01:21Number 9, Mickey DT, Mickey James. There's been a lot of discussion over the years
01:26about the validity of the DDT as a finishing move. Ever since Jake the Snake,
01:30Roberts, first popularized it back in the 80s, today, the DDT is largely seen as a transitional move.
01:37But that hasn't stopped women wrestlers like Maryse and Mickey James from employing it as a match ender.
01:42Mickey DT!
01:47And Mickey James with a back press hooks the leg! James up, 1-0!
01:51Ultimately, a wrestler needs to put a unique spin on the DDT in order for the audience
01:56to suspend their disbelief and fully embrace its impact.
01:59Here we go!
02:01Alexa Bliss planted by Mickey James!
02:05James leaping into the air achieves this via her implant variation,
02:09while she's also used her Mick kick as a finisher in some matches.
02:12Oh, there's a Mick kick for the SmackDown Women's Champion!
02:17Number 8, K.O.D, Bianca Belair The success of the K.O.D, a.k.a. The Kiss of Death,
02:23speaks largely to Bianca Belair's incredible strength and conditioning as an athlete.
02:28It hits this! It is over! The Kiss of Death! Thanks for coming, Dakota!
02:34This is a finishing move that shouldn't feasibly be able to be performed on everyone,
02:38yet Belair has silenced all doubters by consistently dropping fools with the K.O.D at every turn.
02:44The fact that this move is basically a sit-out variation on Kenta Kobashi's iconic burning hammer
02:49just adds to its modern legacy, lending it a protected and fearsome status.
02:54On one good leg, K.O.D!
03:01One, two, three!
03:04The K.O.D also requires a lot of trust on the part of Belair's partner,
03:08since a fall from that position could potentially be risky to the head and neck.
03:12K.O.D!
03:16Cover!
03:20Number 7, Soul Snatcher, Soul Ruka.
03:23Meme and gif culture has made so many of us watch and re-watch spectacular wrestling moments,
03:29sometimes mere minutes after they've occurred.
03:31This is a woman, like Zoey Stark, who has found herself on the long end of, well, maybe her
03:37emotions right now, because...
03:38And just got on the wrong end of Soul Ruka!
03:43Soul Ruka's Soul Snatcher has certainly gained a lot of traction on social media,
03:47but we wouldn't still be talking about it, or including it on this list,
03:51if it weren't seriously impressive.
03:53The champion who drops her face first, and then here it comes!
03:56Soul Snatcher!
03:58Granted, we're not entirely sure if Soul Ruka's inverted somersault adds a ton of impact to
04:03this variation on DDP's diamond cutter, but who cares?
04:06When a finishing move looks this good, we're willing to take all of Soul Ruka's insane athletic
04:11ability to the proverbial bank.
04:13Oh, Soul Snatcher!
04:14I gotta see that again, baby!
04:20How to win!
04:21Number 6.
04:22Bank Statement.
04:23Sasha Banks.
04:24If Sasha can get this locked in, the bank statement, one week from tonight, Becky Lynch
04:29could be forced to tap out.
04:31Professional wrestlers are required to put a lot of thought into their finishing maneuvers.
04:35This includes whether or not to choose a submission move over an impact finisher.
04:39Sasha Banks' bank statement is a variation on a crossface that admittedly doesn't trap her
04:44opponent's arm.
04:45Then again, the fact that it still looks so punishing, despite the omission of this important
04:49detail, speaks a lot to how Banks makes it work.
04:53Here is Sasha Banks!
04:55What I was trying to say is, bang out on the bank statement!
04:59She sells the strain and tension, utilizing every part of her body to make the bank statement
05:03feel gruesome.
05:04Banks' work as a heel has also ensured that she'll kick at an opponent's outstretched hands,
05:09should they think about grabbing for the ropes.
05:12These little touches make all the difference.
05:14I'm Sasha telling Bianca, I'm the reason you're here!
05:19Number 5.
05:20Glam Slam.
05:21Beth Phoenix.
05:23Look at the strength of Beth Phoenix!
05:26Glam Slam!
05:27In a WWE match, both competitors must place the utmost trust in each other in order to
05:32ensure that the match looks great, while also keeping everyone safe.
05:35That's why face-buster maneuvers such as Jade Cargill's Jaded or the Glam Slam by Beth Phoenix
05:41are so impactful.
05:43To no avail!
05:47Face first!
05:48The latter chicken wings her opponent, before dropping her down, wheelbarrow style, into
05:53the mat.
05:53Granted, the wrestler on the receiving end of the Glam Slam has some time to brace herself
05:57before going down, but the end results remain the same.
06:00A win for Beth Phoenix.
06:02Glam Slam!
06:07Beth Phoenix will be a first come WrestleMania!
06:10Number 4.
06:11Black Widow.
06:12AJ Lee.
06:13This serpentine submission hold is truly one of the greats from WWE's women's division.
06:18It's also one of those finishing moves that's remained closely tethered to a single superstar,
06:22AJ Lee.
06:24So much so that it hasn't yet been adopted by anybody else.
06:27This is what helped AJ win last night, the submission maneuver.
06:30Look at Paige trying to fight out of this.
06:32This octopus hold can be applied to all but the largest of opponents, as Lee takes hold
06:37of an arm while wrapping her leg around her victim.
06:41AJ with a submission maneuver lined in.
06:43Oh no, this is bad for daddy.
06:48She actually calls it the Black Widow.
06:49How fitting.
06:50Don't look at him.
06:51They fell!
06:52The Black Widow looks painful, as all good submissions do.
06:56It was truly an iconic aspect of Lee's impressive offensive arsenal.
07:00I guess my finisher was my favorite, which was called the Black Widow.
07:04Number 3.
07:05Lita Salt.
07:06Lita.
07:07Oh my god!
07:07Moonsault from Lita!
07:09Cover!
07:10Can I say it?
07:11Yes!
07:12Vintage Lita!
07:13There's been a long and storied history of professional wrestlers utilizing some sort
07:18of moonsault as their finishing maneuver.
07:20The prettiest moonsault ever from Tiffany Stratton comes to mind, as does the Eve Salt
07:24from Eve Torres and EO Skies take on the move.
07:27It may just be the Lita Salt that takes the cake, however, at least when it comes to WWE's
07:32Attitude Era.
07:33Into the match.
07:34I knew she was going to get into this.
07:36Godfather is reeling.
07:38Lita.
07:38Lita's a...
07:39Oh!
07:40Oh, Moonsault.
07:41I think a big point back for the right of the place.
07:43Lita gets some serious air while performing this move, backflipping and splashing onto
07:48her opponent with the greatest of ease.
07:50She used the move for a long time, too, debuting it alongside Ese Rios and then taking it with
07:55her for good.
07:56Oh, we're ducking to the Moonsault!
07:58The Moonsault!
08:00The Moonsault!
08:01Why God, Lita, did it!
08:03Number 2.
08:04Stratisfaction.
08:05Trish Stratus.
08:06The transitional move known as the Bulldog always looks cool, but it receives an extra
08:11layer of amazing whenever it's placed into the hands of Trish Stratus.
08:14This WWE Women's Division legend utilized a variation on the move as her Stratisfaction
08:19finisher.
08:20And now Trish with Stratisfaction!
08:23Stratisfaction here tonight on Sunday Night Inks is certainly guaranteed!
08:28Trish incorporated a running bounce off the ropes to add a little extra oomph to the proceedings,
08:33while utilizing her skill to make the humble Bulldog feel special.
08:36This has allowed the Stratisfaction to remain in the finishing move conversation all of these
08:47years, while so many others have fallen by the wayside.
08:51Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
09:01Devil's Kiss, Stephanie Vaquer, Booker T's favorite.
09:05Yeah!
09:08Stephanie, Stephanie right there, it's been a long week.
09:12Rose Plant, Bailey, a new finisher for a new Bailey.
09:16The referee never saw it!
09:18It's tended to an injury to Bailey perhaps!
09:21Face first into the canvas!
09:22Sharpshooter, Natalya, handed down to a new generation.
09:27She does not want to tap!
09:29She's fighting!
09:29Here we go!
09:31No!
09:31Karina has no choice!
09:33Watch your face, Alicia Fox.
09:35Scissor kicking her way to victory.
09:37Look out!
09:37Come on!
09:38Yeah!
09:39I agree that Alicia's an incredible athlete.
09:43One, two, three, and...
09:45Riptide, Rhea Ripley.
09:47Mommy's power pounds her opponents.
09:49A second riptide!
09:52Third of the match!
09:53Cover!
09:55Rhea Ripley wins the women's world title!

10:14Number one, Widow's Peak, Victoria.
10:16Oh no! Victoria with the Widow's Peak!
10:21Frightful.com's Sean Ross Sapp wrote an excellent article in 2021 detailing the fascinating process
10:27behind how some WWE wrestlers develop their finishers.
10:30Lisa Marie Varen, aka Victoria, told Sapp and Fightful how Molly Holly saw Roderick Strong
10:36utilizing what would become known as the Widow's Peak while working in the indies.
10:40How'd you come up with that?
10:41I didn't come up with Roderick Strong.
10:43Molly Holly went to an indie show and saw Roderick Strong do it.
10:48This elevated gory neckbreaker places Victoria's opponent behind her in a sitting position.
10:54Victoria then drops down, bringing her opponent with her and devastation ensues.
10:59It looks great while keeping both wrestlers safe from serious injury.
11:03Oh, and also, it's super cool to watch again and again.
11:18Which women's finisher do you feel is the most devastating?
