00:00Newcastle United have announced their first team and academy retain lists ahead of the 25-26 season, starting with the first team and the club have confirmed they remain in contract talks with Callum Wilson and John Ruddy, both players out of contract on June 30th.
00:20Now, of course, Callum Wilson has been a phenomenal servant for Newcastle United, scored goals to keep them in the Premier League, scored goals to help them get Champions League last time around two years ago.
00:31It's been a fantastic player, 49 goals in total, third in Newcastle United's all-time Premier League goalscorer list behind Alexander Izak and Alan Shearer, who is, of course, right at the top.
00:42But the big frustration with Callum Wilson over the last couple of years, at least, or maybe he's five years at Newcastle, is injuries and this season he's been restricted to three starts, two in the Premier League, one in the FA Cup, away at Birmingham City, where he scored in that 3-2 and that was Callum Wilson's only goal of last season.
01:04So, I think, if it was up to Eddie Howe, I think you want to keep Callum Wilson around.
01:09Eddie Howe has worked with Callum Wilson for a very, very long time, first signed him at Bournemouth.
01:14It's got a lot of respect for the player, close personal relationship.
01:17I think in order to do that, Callum Wilson will have to agree terms over an incentive-based deal, which essentially, I think, would mean there's a pay-as-you-play deal.
01:27So, we're in space, seeing if Callum Wilson will agree to that.
01:31As I say, the club say the remaining talk, so no final decision over Callum Wilson's future yet, but that should be made clear over the coming weeks.
01:41John Ruddy signed a one-year deal after being released from Birmingham City last year.
01:46He's been hailed as a fantastic player around the dressing room, behind the scenes, setting standards on the training pitch, but, yeah, could leave this summer.
01:58It's been talk of potentially a return for Fraser Forster, where Tim Crowell has mentioned, but at Newcastle, we understand that Tim Crowell is unlikely to return to Newcastle.
02:07But Newcastle are being linked with those goalkeepers, because if they can sign Fraser Forster, which would probably be the most likely option, if John Ruddy is to leave, it would give Newcastle an extra place in the European UEFA Champions League squad.
02:24Squad rule is very, very different to Premier League.
02:27You've got to have four club-trained players in the UEFA squad to get the maximum 25-man squad.
02:34Fraser Forster qualifies under that, because he was at the club for a lot of years, before he only went on to play for Celtic, Southampton, and being the main two.
02:47He's been at Tottenham for the last three years, but he was out of contract.
02:50So, yeah, maybe, say, the goalkeeping situation is one to watch a lot of moving parts there.
02:56But as it stands, yeah, no confirmation over John Ruddy's future.
03:00The club say they remain in talks.
03:02One player who has agreed a new deal is Mark Gillespie.
03:06It's the third summer in a row that he signed a one-year extension.
03:11Mark Gillespie first joined the football club in 2021.
03:16That was last year.
03:18He made an appearance for the club.
03:20It was in a Carabao Cup tie away to Newport County.
03:24Mark Gillespie has established himself as essentially a key member behind the scenes.
03:31He will never come close to playing for any cast night again unless something drastically bad happens and tears out of injuries.
03:37But Eddie Howe really does value Mark Gillespie and what he brings behind the scenes.
03:41And that's why he's been handed a new contract.
03:44So, yeah, fifth choice, low fee, or low weekly wages, as I say.
03:49So, really no risks attached.
03:53Two players leaving the football club this summer.
03:56Lloyd Kelly has completed, or will complete, his £20 million permanent move to Juventus.
04:02Lloyd Kelly only joined Newcastle United last summer on a free transfer from AFC Bournemouth.
04:07But after being restricted to 14 appearances, was loaned to Juventus in January.
04:12That included a £20 million obligation to buy.
04:16Lloyd Kelly has hit the criteria for that, which is understood to be based on appearances and not European football, as previously reported early.
04:25But, yeah, that's all done and dusted.
04:27Lloyd Kelly will be joining Juventus this summer in Newcastle bank £20 million from his transfer,
04:34which has helped the PSR situation, and where hopefully Newcastle United can go on and strengthen the squad significantly
04:41during the summer transfer window.
04:44And then another player who was left at the end of his contract, which comes at the end of the end of the month,
04:48Jermain Lewis, signed from Norwich City in 2020.
04:54Arrive with a lot of potential.
04:55Had a really good season with Norwich in the Premier League, even though they got relegated.
04:59Was linked with Liverpool at the time, and it looked like a bit of a coup for Newcastle.
05:03So, to get Jermain Lewis through the door, but it hasn't quite worked out that way.
05:08Managed under 40 appearances in the time that he'd been at Newcastle.
05:12Loan spells at Watford, and then at the start of last season at Sao Paulo.
05:18Just hasn't worked out for him here, and, you know, feel a bit sorry for him.
05:22Because there was a period under Eddie Howe, when he first came in, where he got run the team,
05:26and he had looked to be, finally established himself in Newcastle,
05:30but picked up a hamstring injury away at the handfield in the December time,
05:34and never really recovered from that.
05:36So, a chance for him to get his career back on track by finding a new club in the coming months.
05:41On to the academy retainers, then.
05:44Newcastle have released six academy players, and they are J. Turner Cook, Ellis Stanton, James Huntley,
05:53Josh Donaldson, Harry and Rory Powell, the twin brothers.
05:57None of those players made a first team, or a competitive first team appearance for Newcastle United.
06:03J. Turner Cook appeared in a handful of friendlies.
06:06Ellis Stanton appeared for the, I say, the under-21s.
06:10It was a Newcastle United first team, essentially, in the A-League All-Stars game in Australia last summer.
06:16Again, it was a Newcastle first team game, but it was a team full of under-21s players.
06:23James Huntley, probably the biggest experience out of all those players,
06:27was being on the bench for the Champions League away tie in Paris Saint-Germain.
06:32And so, although he didn't make appearance for the football club, that was a real fantastic experience for him.
06:39Spent parts of the season on loan at National League Northside, spending my town.
06:44And yeah, Harry and Rory Powell, the twin brothers, Josh Donaldson,
06:48will also be leaving the football club at the end of the month.
06:52I see that there was no more specific 사항, but a fact, he's standing at the Royal British extベP.
06:55He knows which Decider is big no more.
06:56Amen.
06:56Perfungs of Stephen King with sang Bluetooth place.
06:58But if you know he was waiting for him,
07:00it's like him trying to get all the best and all the best ideas out.
07:02He knows where Peter has arrived for his fantastic season.
07:04But apparently, it is during the UK, his nature is portable as partners.
07:06So his history has has been the same.
07:08He's also replaced by Emmanuel动 Spearing,
07:14He said though路 on loan is lower than 300 pounds,
07:17he knows where Peter has had been the same image of asvers,
