00:00But we're going to talk about our player of the season. I'll let you go first because I know you're all quite strong on this.
00:09Yeah, so I want to caveat this. I would say in terms of most impactful players, I would say Alexander Izak for his 27 goals,
00:17Sandro Tonali for being an absolute revelation in the number six row, transformed the team from December onwards.
00:23And I'll probably put Jacob Murphy in that. I'll put Jacob Murphy as a sort of a third in this list I'm going to say because of his assists and goals.
00:35I mean, goal contributions this season, incredible for him. But for me, the most consistent performer throughout the season, the seven, eight out of ten every week,
00:47sometimes even nine out of ten is Dan Byrne for me.
00:49He's everywhere at the minute. He's turned into a local celebrity. Everywhere you look, Dan Byrne's doing it.
00:58Cat and dog shelter. Wedding's left, right and centre. F1.
01:04Yeah, he was. He was on the grid last night, wasn't he?
01:07Oh, we're going to go. Oh, the wind, the wind.
01:10But no, Dan Byrne for me, just because of how consistent he's been, he's always, he's rarely dipped below his levels.
01:18I think he's just been a real consistent performer. What a season he's had. Stuff of dreams, scoring in a cup final.
01:26England.
01:28Yeah, everything. It's a fairy tale, isn't it?
01:30Yeah. The freedom of Northumberland. Just an unbelievable season for him and just a real top class bloat as well.
01:38Did you not get that for being Blythe Spartans Press?
01:41Sadly not, no. I'm going to put a request in. Next time I see Dan Byrne in the mix, I'm like, all right, Dan, put a word in for us.
01:47You look so much taller than me on this video. I know, because I'm a little bit ill. I'm a little bit ill.
01:51I'm a little bit ill-eyed. We're not, I think we're usually quite similar.
01:53Are we usually... Have you just noticed this? Yeah, I've just noticed it there. I was looking, I was like, what?
01:59I'm Dan Byrne. You're Dan Byrne. Yeah.
02:01Jacob Murphy. Yeah.
02:02Right, so yeah, that's my reasons for Dan Byrne. Just missed that contest. An unbelievable season. Top bloke.
02:09I say, if I had to give her an award for a player that came out and spoke to the press after games, it would be him as well.
02:15It's always him, yeah.
02:15It's always Dan Byrne who comes and speaks to the media after a game. So, for all those reasons.
02:19Take note the rest of you. You should be speaking to the media and the public.
02:24Because that's who you're really speaking to. You're not speaking to us. We are providing the questions and the voice for the people out there.
02:29So you should be speaking to the people.
02:31Agreed.
02:32Right, so I kind of agree with you. If I was to say who was the most consistent performer, if we're asking for the most consistent player at Newcastle United, I would say Dan Byrne.
02:42But if we're asking for the player of the season, I can't give it to Dan Byrne.
02:46Because I think seven out of ten every week doesn't win me the player of the season.
02:50Player of the season is a 20-odd goal striker. And that's what, Newcastle don't do what they do without Wieser.
02:56So it's an easy decision for me. Although what I will say is, because of the impact that Sandro Tornali had,
03:01I think he's very close. Jacob Murphy performed well beyond his capabilities. Most improved player would be Jacob Murphy.
03:09But I think one thing that kind of gets slept on as the season's gone on, because we haven't seen him for three months,
03:15was, in my opinion, even with Dan Byrne and the team, Lewis Hall was outperforming him.
03:19Lewis Hall, for the first half of the season, Lewis Hall was probably my player of the season.
03:23Oh, 100%. I can't disagree with him.
03:25He was incredible. Even when Newcastle were rubbish, Lewis Hall was still seven, eight out of ten.
03:29He was excellent. He was the only one. A couple of games we went to, he was like, who can you pick who had a decent...
03:33Lewis Hall was the only one every time. And I think that's one thing that people are kind of forgetting about,
03:38because Liveramento stepped in and did such a fantastic job.
03:41How good was he in the last sort of month of the season as well? He was unbelievable.
03:45But Sandro Tornali's impact has him up there. Murphy, incredible. And again, they wouldn't have done what they've done without Murphy.
03:52So if you're looking at stats alone, he's probably right up there. But it's got to be SAC.
03:57Players like him don't come along very often. Seasons like that don't come along very often.
04:01Although I'm pretty sure he'll replicate it again next season.
04:03And that just underlines how valuable he is to Newcastle United. Things can't be done without him.
04:09I think we're disagreeing, but agreeing at the same time.
04:12Because I would agree, if you're based on impact, which I suppose you'd define a player of the year off, it would be SAC.
04:18But for me, for Dan Byrne, it gets it because of it being the consistent factor.
04:21So I think you agree, Dan Byrne, on consistency.
04:24Oh, definitely, yeah.
04:24And I agree with Alexander SAC on impact and 27 goals of his score.
04:28Day one to now, if there was like a graph or a chart, Dan Byrne would be the consistent.
04:34There would be so few dips.
04:37He probably only made the odd mistake in the whole of the season.
04:42Yeah, incredible. I can't see, no matter whether they're signing centre-half, which I think they will,
04:46I can't see him dropping out of the team.
04:48No, I mean, he's faced challenges.
04:50I mean, first year, Sven Botman comes in, Dan Byrne moves out of left-back,
04:54and then he's back in the centre-half.
04:56And obviously, Sven Botman picks up, he always finds a way to stay in the team.
04:58And I think maybe people are like, oh, there's been injuries and stuff.
05:01No, I think that's more of the man that he is and the character that he is
05:04and all that he puts in, that he's going, no, you're not having my shirt off, mate.
05:08Yeah, the man who came in, what we thought was a placeholder.
05:11Someone who would just do a job until someone else came in.
05:13He's established himself as a leading character at the football club.
05:18Fair play to him.
05:19Incredible, incredible story.
05:20Fair play.
