The euros are here! Sarina Wiegman’s team will be looking to win back-to-back tournaments and there will be some phenomenal players from the two Manchester clubs over there. Let’s see who has made it in…
00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Houstonbets and today we're on a very exciting topic because the women's Euros is just around the corner.
00:07So today we're going to be talking about the England women's national team and the representatives from this wonderful city and region.
00:13Now starting in net and Kiara Keating of Manchester City is set to battle with Hannah Hampton and Anna Morehouse for the role of starting goalkeeper.
00:20This comes after the sad news that Mary Earps has stepped away from international football.
00:23Earps had made over 100 appearances for Manchester United before her switch to PSG in 2024 and played a key role in winning the Euros in 2022 and taking England to the final of the 2023 World Cup.
00:36Now in defence Alex Greenwood is the only Manchester City representative and will be targeting a starting role within Wiegmann's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
00:45Maya Letizia is less of a known quantity in the squad but will be looking to force her way into contention too.
00:50In midfield Ella Toon and Grace Clinton have both made the squad. The Manchester United pair have played big parts in the club's third place finish last season with Toon bagging five goals in 17 starts and Clinton operating well in a deeper role.
01:02City also have two in the squad with Jess Park and Keira Walsh making it in.
01:06Keira Walsh's qualities will be well known having been one of the most effective and well-known deep midfielders in world football over recent years while Park is a tricky winger slash attacking midfielder who's notched five goals and an assist this year.
01:18Further forward and Manchester City are the winners in this little competition for representation.
01:23Lauren Hemp has made it in which is no surprise considering how brilliant she's been since Serena Wiegmann took charge of the team with Chloe Kelly who's on loan at Arsenal from City also making her way in.
01:33Now there's a lot to be excited about and the reigning champions should really have the support of the whole country behind them as they look to get another Euros victory.
01:41That's all for now. Thank you for watching and follow Manchester World for more.
